When people reflect on their college experience at Birmingham-Southern, they usually talk about what great opportunities they have access to, and what an outstanding education they're receiving. For the price of the school, there's got to be some kind of long-term benefit. It's no secret that if you graduate from BSC, then you're pretty much guaranteed to get a job in the metro area right out of college. Students also talk about the lifelong friendships they formed, and all the different kinds of people they met while at Southern. It's the kind of place that alumni love to come back to and reminisce about, as well as encourage their kids to come.
The whole school feels like one big family. While there are struggles, it seems as though everyone at BSC is looking to improve upon their mistakes and make it a place that everyone can enjoy. The administration is always changing curriculum to fit the needs of the students, and the students are always challenging the faculty in order to improve upon the status quo. Academics are a high priority at Southern, but it's still possible to have a life while you're here, as well. BSC is an exception to most of the stereotypes for the region, because it is always growing and changing. Some people come to the South and expect to find people in the Dark Ages. At BSC, however, it's clear that people are looking towards the future.
