Health & Safety: Campus Security--Very Effective – Campus security is very active; they have security guards posted outside all residence buildings, and you have to show your ID to get into the residence halls. Two of the three dorms even have card readers in addition to security guards. You can also call campus security to walk you to any one of the Berklee buildings. They have a hotline you can call anytime. Occasionally there is theft, but I haven't experienced it, and I don't personally know anyone who has.

Drug Safety: Clean as a Rusty Whistle – Berklee is a pretty clean campus on the surface. Musicians and cigarettes seem to go hand-in-hand here, because almost everyone smokes. The school in no way promotes this sort of behavior, in fact, the administration just passed a new rule stating that smoking was forbidden within 25 feet of all campus building entrances. Drinking is a pretty standard activity on weekends, but I've rarely seen anyone get out of control who was a student at Berklee. The student population is generally very focused and professional. We have our fun, but our goals generally outweigh our good time. Beyond that, drug use isn't drastic, and it also depends on the crowd you hang out with. Smoking is a pretty common activity amongst students, but again, it's never to the point of causing problems.

Nightlife: Bring Your Own, Make Your Own – Berklee is a very big school, and though we have many clubs and activities going on, the nightlife aspect is really at the mercy of the city of Boston. There are no sororities or frats, and many clubs are performance-based. So, students often venture to other campuses, have house parties, go to/play in shows, etc. Most of the clubs are 21+, or are pretty expensive. The most fun I've had is at friend's houses, where we spend hours simply playing music together, cooking, partying, and overall making our own fun. I feel I've gotten to know people a lot better when the atmosphere is more personal, with a good crowd.

Campus Housing: Apartment Life – I don't necessarily live on campus, but I live very close. Living in an apartment has taught me a lot about being mature, and how to take complete care of myself. I've become an excellent cook and often make food for friends, which is a great social outlet on nights when there isn't a lot going on. It's peaceful, clean, and a great study space. It's wonderful to be able to be at school all day and come home to a place that's truly one's own.

Scholarships: Not Very Successful – You can always get loans and such to pay for your schooling, but scholarships through the school are incredibly difficult to get. The school is supposedly raising its scholarship funds, but it is still a competitive and unreliable source of financial aid. It is also a very expensive college.

Weather: Does Affect, but Not Much – Boston gets a little bit of everything, heat, rain, snow. However school is off during most of winter, so snow is rarely an issue. and the buildings are relatively close to each other so walking outside during say, the rain, shouldn't be too much of a problem. There are plenty of nice days wheather-wise.

Campus Strictness: Berklee has the usual college rules relating to hat is acceptable behavior on campus.Have common sense in your social behavior,"don't act like a fool".

1 College Student

Athletics: The Athletic Activity at Berklee Is Almost None at All. Berklee is a College of Music;it is not a traditional University with a Athletic department. If you come to Berklee looking for a football and/or basketball team team to support on weekends you are certainly at the wrong place.

Guys & Girls: The Guys and Girls at Berklee Are Very Talented – You will find some of the most talented musicians in the world at Berklee. There are students from all over the world and there are many styles of music that you will hear and possibly get a oppurtunity to play and learn from these wonderful student musicians. How can you not love Berklee?

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Scoop of Joy – I love that its like some kind of high school musical shoot, everyone is comfortable enough to just break into a tune with their resp instruments and things just go from there. its overwhelming to see how everyone is as good or much better sometimes, but i wouldnt give away any of it for a thing. The internships offered are out of the world and the name speaks for itself.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I Love It Here – I cant express enough. It is very different from where i come from and what i know. i learn something new everyday and feel like a true American citizen (even though i'm not!)

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: It Is Diverse – There are people from all over the world at Berklee as one of the best things about the college is their International audition and interview process which allows students to participate by just having to travel to a neighboring state or else in their own town. Plus though the tuition is high, the technology, experience and scholarships are worth it. Everyone is welcome, you just need to have a little musical talent :)

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Take the "T" – There is good public transportation. You simply buy a "Charlie" card and swipe it to get into the train station and on the bus. I would not recommend biking, it is a little dangerous with the congestion.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Don't bring a car to Boston. It is too difficult to park it unless you live several miles from Boston. Tickets/fines are $30. Meters are maximum of 2 hours, so not much time to do anything. There is some free parking, but it is almost impossible to get. The garages are typically all day for $30 or more.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: Required Pesonal Computer – Berklee requires that all freshman buy a Mac with all the required software. For the price, it is a great buy and everything is configured and ready to go.

Local Atmosphere: Boston has to be one of the best cities I have ever been. The atmosphere is great: great food, people, and wonderful social scene. It is also a huge historical city, being one of the first big cities in the US, it houses so many old buildings, graves, and other major historical areas from which our country was built upon.

4 College Junior

Academics: Best Contemporary Music School Around – I came to Berklee to gaina greater knowledge of music today. over two years I have learned so much, that I am now able to hear notes, scales, and other unique musical things that I wasn't able to understand before. I have a also progressed in my main instrument of study a lot. I also am able to compose for other instruments then my own.

Off-Campus Housing: Everybody Finds One – I live ON CAMPUS, but all of my friends have a place to live nearby. Wether it´s on walking distance or a few subway stops away, there´s always an apartment available. Boston is a student´s city, so there´s always space for someone. It´s kind of expensive, but if you ever go to Boston, the last thing to worry about is where to live: because EVERYBODY FINDS ONE.

Facilities: very good availability and access for practice and rehearsal studios

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Berklee Is Awesome – The school, students, and faculty make this school so great. There are so many people from different parts of the world, different ages, and from all walks of life. For the most part a lot of the teachers want to see the students succeed and they are always accessible and willing to help. Also the amount of jam sessions and music related things that go on at this school are great. The information give is great and its a school that you can handle or you can't. You have to love what you do and focus.

Local Atmosphere: In my opinion Boston has the vibe of a suburb. Although it's a city I find there isn't too much to do especially if you aren't 21. Being from New York this city seems quite boring but there are some cool things to check out. The upside to this city is that you can go and see lots of great live music.

4 College Freshman

Academics: New Student at Berklee – I'm a transfer student at Berklee College of Music. I wouldn't know quite yet what it's like to be a music business major at the school yet until I'm allowed to declare my major after my second semester. I must say that the classes required and the workload looks like it will be a lot but wort the effort and hard work. Some of the upper semester students have gone out into the industry and got great internships and jobs at different record labels, music publishing companies, studios, and a lot of other great places.

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Most Teachers Are Considerate – Students are expected to get their work done on time and to have good attendance. Poor attendance affects your grade. Pretty strict about missed quizzes and tests. Strict deadlines for enrollment, registration, adding/dropping/withdrawing from classes. No dress code. No ID required to get on campus.

1 College Senior

Athletics: Not a Priority – Berklee is not really focused on sports. I think it has a hockey team, and that's about it. I think Berklee has partnerships with nearby bigger universities like Emerson.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Variety of Places – A lot of fastfood, sandwich/burrito places, pizza joints, and Asian food places right by campus. A few minutes away is Newbury Street, home to many trendy and more expensive restaurants and cafes. Also a few minutes away is Prudential Center, which has a food court offering fastfood, cafe food, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, pizza, a rotisserie, ice cream.
