3 College Freshman

Nightlife: There is always a party going on

2 people found this useful Report
College Freshman

Nightlife: Its great if you want to be drunk or get drunk and raped.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Being a relatively small school, Bentley's nightlife simply cannot compete with others such as UMASS. However, Bentley does have a reputation of "going hard on the weekends" and between greek life and athletic teams, there will always be a big party nearby on the weekends.

College Junior

Nightlife: I live on North Campus where there are 24 hour courtesy quiet hours, so I wouldn't really know much about parties and stuff. However, the big place for Bentley students off campus is Skellig, a local bar on Moody St.

2 Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: On campus you can occasionally find a good party. When there is good party off of campus it is beyond capacity and unless you are wasted its no fun because you can't move. Off campus, there is really only one bar within a reasonable distance that people attend and thats only on Thursdays, Skellig. It is this sketchy bar that survives off of Bentley students on Thursdays. So, if you are looking for a lot of fun parties, Bentley is not the place to go.

The party scene at Bentley varies from group to group and can be a bit of an adjustment for freshmen. Not everyone on campus drinks or parties, but those who do take it seriously. Everyone’s “welcome back” parties will die down in the beginning of October, then comes everyone's favorite: the Halloween parties. Of course, there are also random weekend parties, themed parties, finals parties, and farwell parties. Be sure to include the random nights of drinking too: Wine Wednesday and Thirsty Thursday are quite popular. It’s a sure bet that when going to an on-campus party, you will know at least half of the people there. Dorm room parties are fun when you’re a freshman—especially if you're going to upperclassman rooms—but come sophomore year, the crowded beer-pong parties can lose their appeal. So, feel free to explore some of the off-campus Greek parties, which can be a great time and allow you to meet new people every time.

Going to clubs or bars in Boston can also be a great time. The only drawback is that in order to make it back to Harvard Square on the T, you will have to leave the club early because the subway shuts down at 1 a.m. The shuttle now runs later hours though, so if you just get a cab to Cambridge, you can get back on campus before 3 a.m. Or you can grab a group of friends and take a cab back to the University.

Club ListingsWhat's This?

Tequila Rain

This nightclub extension of Jillian's is respected amongst the most faithful clubbers. You'll be coaxed in by the hottest top 40 beats, but don't worry if you weren't planning on clubbing because the dress code is sexy casual. With monthly and weekly events, such as Cuervo Nation, Buff Fridays, and wet t-shirt contests, there is a reason for everyone to go to Tequila Rain.

The Roxy

A great club to take a date, the décor and vibe is a bit more mature and established than the Lansdowne clubs, but a good change nonetheless. The Roxy caters to a diverse population as it hosts "Chippendales" for the ladies every Friday and offers a reward card for frequent clubgoers.

Bar ListingsWhat's This?

The Skellig

A traditional Irish pub in the front, a old-fashioned bar experience in the backroom. While the Skellig probably wasn't opened with the intention of being a college bar, it definitely knows how to show Bentley students a good time. Local bands play the backroom every Thursday night, the unofficial Bentley night, and most times, they are surprisingly talented. The 21-and-over law is increasingly enforced as the night goes on and more people want to get in.

The Wave Sports Pub

The closest bar geographically to campus, the Wave is the newest addition in Thursday night bar hopping. A cover charge of $5 is sometimes collected, but there's always $1.50-$2 drafts, which make up for it. On Thursdays, the Wave is hit up for some early night pool before heading over to the Skellig.

Joe Sent Me

The Tuesday night bar to be and be seen at is Joe Sent Me, known simply as "Joe's" to Bentley-ites. Tuesdays are College Party Nights with 8 oz. $1 drafts. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday bring live music, and a newly opened patio could make Joe's even hotter. Don't expect a glitz-and-glamour décor here, but the spot is so popular that is was chosen by one of the contestants on ABC's The Bachelor to watch her episodes a few seasons ago. The 21-and-over requirement is more relaxed on Tuesday nights, just make sure you're with a group of good-looking girls!

Mad Raven

Although right next to Joe's on Main Street, the Mad Raven is typically the hang out for Brandeis students, and since Bentley and Brandeis students don't mix, you'd be hard pressed to find a Falcon in this joint on a regular basis. It's still worth while to check out, and who knows, maybe there's hope yet for Waltham collegians from different sides of town to bond over a good beer.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

The Pub

Usually has activities and games including themed nights. Also has pool tables and foosball.

Bentley Campus

Jillian's of Boston

Jillian's is a great place for those of drinking age (six full bars!), but even those under 21 can have a great time here. Above the first floor, Tequila Rain, is the giant arcade floor-a virtual indoor amusement park. From virtual bowling to basketball to skee ball to pool tables galore, this is one place sure to please everyone in your group. Most nights are 18 and over, but some Fridays and Saturdays can be 19 and over to weed out the college kids from the older high-schoolers.

The Backstage

The Backstage, located in the basement of Spruce Hall, offers pool tables, foosball, air hockey, darts, and a free soda bar (but no alcohol). During the week, students can see bands, comedians, or even take part in some karaoke.
