3 College Sophomore

Academics: I am the only Physics and Secondary Ed major in my grade. Nobody really knows what it's like. So although I LOVE being these majors, it's not a very prominent major.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: It's a difficult course load. Being a liberal arts school, you have to take a lot of additional classes. Although this can be a little annoying sometimes, I really enjoy that I am becoming so well read in so many areas of knowledge.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I'm not in a sport, but they seem to be okay.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: Workout facilities: poor. Everything else is fine. A little old, but you can get what you need. But there is plenty of green space (we're right along the Missouri River), and campus activities are abundant.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: There are so many things, it's kind of indescribable. But the most unique thing is that we're Catholic. Our dorms are single-sex, we have monks and nuns sitting beside us in class, and the main focal point on campus is the abbey.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I personally don't live off campus. The school highly advocates for living on campus all four years so it is difficult to get off campus. But if you manage to get there, accommodations seem to be pretty good.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are students from all over the world. Most students are Catholic, and a lot of us are Caucasian but there are definitely people from other ethnicities. I'm sure there are some people that aren't heterosexual, but they don't speak up much. Understandable since many Catholics don't accept gay marriage, but gay people shouldn't feel like we won't accept them as a person.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Maybe it's a little strict for some people, but I believe it's only for everyone's best interest. So I'm okay with it.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I don't go off campus very often, but when I do I am never overwhelmed by the choices nor underwhelmed. It's just alright.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: When you think about Catholic relationships, that's my school. Everyone is very courteous to one another, they dress pretty modestly, and mostly you date to marry. But I'm ok with that. It seems more genuine than relationships that the media represents.

Local Atmosphere: It's a small town. For some people, that's the worst. But for me, I enjoy it. There are things to do, and it's easy to drive into the town over which is much bigger. You just feel good in this atmosphere.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I haven't experienced any trouble in this area because it has never come up for me. That being said, I believe the safety and security on campus is good; I feel safe on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I am a Physics and Secondary Education major. Being a double major is hard, so it is very nice to have two great departments. Although the Physics department isn't very large, the professors are incredible and are always there to make sure you're doing well. The education department is very large, so it is extremely easy to get help. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience thus far as a Physics Ed major.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: It is difficult to get into the education department at Benedictine, because you have to complete a portfolio. However, I am glad it is difficult to get in because teaching is, in my opinion, the most important career someone can pursue, so it is vital that only the best get in. Physics isn't so hard to get into, but you have to know what you're doing (GPA has to be at least a 2.75). So overall, it takes dedication to get in, but that's important, so I really like it.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: I love living on campus. No building is more that 10 minutes (if you walk slow) away from any of your classes. The dorms are single sex and have visitation rules, but the rules are not overly strict (between 12 pm and 12 am on week days; 12 pm and 1:30 am on weekends); there is still plenty of room to hang out with friends of the other gender. I am a supporter of the visitation policy, because it makes it easier to make friends with the people in your dorm. I am able to make close friendships with other girls, without guys being in the way. In my dorm freshman year there was a chapel, which I could visit 24/7 and which had Eucharistic Adoration during the week. The staff is friendly - we have great RAs and RDs.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I really like my classes. There are not enough class offerings or enough options for majors.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I like the academics overall, but I wish there were more times for each class.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are people from many different walks of life but there are overwhelming majorities.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I like going to football games, and they are fairly well attended but no other sports are very big on campus. Intramurals are awesome.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I like most of the strictness but the visitation policies for the dorms are too much. We should be allowed into opposite gender dorms on weekends or at least in the mornings.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Less than half of the students drink and very few do drugs. It is not really much of a problem.

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is generally very nice. There are all four seasons, but it does not bother me.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: You can get scholarships through the school, but you have to work hard with financial aid to get them.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The security guards have a great presence on campus and overall I feel very safe.
