Nightlife: Enjoy the Music of Music City – The nightlife at Belmont consists of a few off-campus parties, house shows, and a plethora of concerts. Jam sessions are scattered throughout campus at night. A lot of the clubs are 21 or older, although there are a few that are 18 and up. Transportation is basically non-existent. There is the public transportation system, but it isn't the safest or most dependable. There are taxis though.

Overall Experience: Blessed Beyond Belief – I have had an amazing time thus far at Belmont. I have learned so much about myself through my interactions with other students both in and out of the classroom. My values and beliefs have shifted, and I consider myself to be a more mature, happy, and confident person than when I graduated from high school. I love the community feeling Belmont offers, and everyone on campus truly looks out for one another. Belmont really feels like home, and I am proud to be a student of the university!

Guys & Girls: The guys and gals of Belmont aren't your typical college students. For the most part, girls are always dressed to impress. The boys are generally rocking the musician hipster look or the frat look. Although 10% of the student population is involved in Greek life it does not create a divide within the student body.

Drug Safety: Low, but Very Protected – Just like any college campus, there is a drug scene. But more students choose not to be involved in it. Belmont recently passed a tobacco-free campus policy, so students who smoke cigarettes must do so off campus. In addition, Belmont has a no alcohol tolerance policy. Of course students hide alcohol in their rooms, and some parties do happen in on campus apartments, but almost all parties are off campus. If students are caught with alcohol, paraphernalia, drugs, etc. they will be severely punished.

Diversity: Not Your Average Southern, Christian University – Belmont's campus is more diverse than one would expect from a southern Christian University. Minorities make up about 11% of the student population. However, students who are of minority background are welcomed with open arms on campus. The majority of students come from middle class families. Political beliefs range from each end of the spectrum, as students come from all parts of the country. Most students are Christian, and there is a strong Christian environment on campus. Then again, students who choose not to make faith a part of their lives are not burdened to.

Facilities: AWESOME. Belmont is a school of some of the nicest people I have ever met. You can walk up to anyone here, talk to them, and they are incredibly inviting. This is not because it is a southern school, it's because it's Belmont.

Athletics: Athletics are decent at Belmont. We are well-known for our basketball team, but that is about it. Go down the street to Vandy for athletics.

Diversity: Belmont is a multi-faceted school often known for its famous music programs but it can boast of more. Belmont has a top-notch nursing program, wonderful Psychology department, various great doctorate programs and multiple other prestigious academic programs. The campus is a little small but beautiful. The students are culturally accepting, typically liberal (but many conservatives exist), hipsters. However, the student population goes beyond that. Although the school disagrees with homosexual activity, the students are all incredibly accepting. I have plenty of openly homosexual friends. Religion is present but does not overwhelm. Overall, GREAT SCHOOL.

Health & Safety: No Troubles – I often take late night walks around campus, often by myself. I have never felt a reason to be insecure by myself. Even so, I know there are resources for me if I ever do feel uncomfortable.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Teachers Are Fantastic – The teachers at Belmont have always been such a great resource. There has never been a class where I feel uncomfortable approaching a professor about a concern I may have.

Local Atmosphere: The Great Outdoors and Loud Music – Nashville is a city for everything, especially for music. There are also great parks offering hiking trails, camping opportunities, and rock climbing. Nashville is also home to many college and universities, including Belmont, Vanderbilt, and Lipscomb. There is a great indie scene of artists, musicians, and writers throughout Nashville. Definitely check out Centennial Park's replica of the Parthenon.

Majors: Music Major – It is great to be a music major at Belmont University because it is a music school. I know that I will enjoy it in the fall because my dream is to be a singer/songwriter. Unique aspects of my program is that there are many chances for you to connect with more well-known songwriters in this program, so it is great and very convenient for those intending on being a music major.

Academics: Music School – Belmont University is a music school and being that I am majoring in music, it is great that I will be attending Belmont in the fall. It is known as a music school in the state and in the country and it is specializes in things of music.

Local Atmosphere: Music City – My school is located in Nashville (aka Music City), so there are a lot of restaurants and other places like bars, music venues, museums, etc. The night life is great and there are many events that take place in Nashville such as festivals like the African Street Festival and even more!

Local Atmosphere: Lots to Do – I am from a small town so when I moved to nashville it was like a whole new world. there are so many thins to do and place to go.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I will be moving there in about 10 days but from the looks of it, there are great cafes and different venues where something is always going on! Being in Nashville, there is the Country Music Hall of Fame and several star tours which are always fun! I liked the Studio B tour that takes you into the Studio B recording studio where legends recorded many albums. It even has THE piano Elvis played on while he recorded there!

Academics: Good Reputation – I have heard very good things about the rigor of the academics at Belmont. I also know that they are very well-known for their musical theatre and music programs.

Weather: What can I say?- its hot in the summber and cold in the winter, that's how it is supposed to be, no hurricanes comming to middle tennessee any time soon...maybe a tornado every few years but never head of Beelmont University being dammaged, we did have a flood a few years back but I don't think capmus was affected much.

Health & Safety: Great Place to Be – At belmont there is very scarce need for security, but a few weeks ago when there was an incident they let the student know swiftfully to be on guard from a local teenager who had tried to steal from a student, the student was apprihended and the police were contacted. I have never felt unsafe on campus.

Academics: Computer Science, the Way to Go. The computer science program at Belmont is great! The professors of the program are very tight knit and plan their curriculums to prepare us for the next class and the job market beyond the classroom. The workload is veryt manageable as long as you keep to the 12am due times and don't slack off. The opportunities for internships are plentiful, I'm an intern right now, for the summer, and one of my Professors turned me on to it and gave me a glowing recommendation. The best part of it all is how easy it is to learn in such a pleasant environment with such nice professors and classmates.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Awesome on All Levels – The school is great all around, being near downtown Nashville it's perfect for finding things to do on weekends. There are always things going because it's a music school. Constantly music events are happening.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The classes at Belmont are very good and class size is low 20-30 not usually more than that.

College Senior

Diversity: The Composite of the Racial/Ethnic Population – There is a mixture of diverse cultures that attend Belmont University.

College Senior

Campus Housing: My Personal Epilogue Page – Having a specific major at Belmont University in the field of Broadcasting Journalism is dream that is materializing with concrete evidence of an Honorary Certificate exemplifying attained goals. This major has offered necessary curricula-focused academics that has enriched my cognizant aptitude to become proficient as a Newscaster or Media Programming Announcer. In lieu of documenting past and current events through individual/group classroom experiences, the workload has effected understaning of broadcasting, structured/depth interviews, the degree of attention given to specific news, equal assess, and many other facets of television production. I anticipate woking with a major television network in the near future,

Most Belmont students will tell you that if they had to do it over again, they’d choose Belmont every time. So, despite parking issues, rising tuition, and strict behavioral policies, students are truly glad to be here, and it shows. University president Dr. Robert Fisher (around here, he’s affectionately called “Bob the Builder”—you’ll figure it out when you see the construction trucks on campus) likes to say Belmont is a “small town in a big city.” Because it’s such a tiny school on an enclosed campus, the community atmosphere at Belmont is incredibly strong. Professors often give out their personal cell phone numbers to students who need extra help, and they genuinely want their students to succeed—not just in their classes, but in life. Most students find one or two professors in their major who become almost like surrogate parents. They’ll counsel you through the stress of finals and help you find fantastic internships. Because many professors are former professionals in whatever field they teach, they have experience and contacts that are immeasurably valuable to students —in this town, the people you know have the potential to open doors for you.

Nashville itself is probably one of the biggest selling points for the University. It’s an incredible town full of opportunities for young professionals in every major. Nursing students may do clinicals at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, one of the top hospitals in the world. Students who like to write might find a public relations internship at one of the music labels in town. And of course, if you want to pursue a career in the music business, there’s no better place to be. So is a Belmont education expensive? Yes. Make no mistake about it. But if you feel it’s the right place for you, you’ll leave knowing every penny was worth it.
