4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Over all, I have really enjoyed my experience at BCCC thus far. I still have two more years to go, praying I get accepted into the nursing program this go around. The teachers I have had have been friendly and really know their stuff. The administrative staff are fairly friendly as well.

Online Courses: I have taken quite a few seated courses that are called "hybrid" and most of the work is done online on Blackboard. Its fairly simple to operate but it does freeze up sometimes. The way the teacher has the page organized makes a huge difference as well. I had to drop a class last semester because the teacher didn't have his page organized well and would not help me when I asked for help. There really is not a registration process the student has to do - the college has that done for us. Peer-to-peer interaction is done through email and discussion boards in an online class.

Academic Flexibility: The experience I have had at BCCC thus far has been good. The best part is the school is only 15 minutes from my home and it is somewhat cheaper than a university (but still hard to pay the bill). I believe most of the curriculum I have studied so far has been pretty good. The only frustration I have had was in my anatomy and physiology class last semester. My study group and I had a time with that teacher. I have not had to transfer credits: I have only gone to Beaufort for two years and do not plan to go anywhere else.

Facilities: The only thing that can set apart is that the faulty will actually sit and work with you through concerns.

Career Services: The services have been very helpful throughout my school.

Student Body: Students on campus are very diverse, not only in race, but in personality. The few classes I have taken on campus has been filled with very interesting people from all walks of life. Some of them I wonder why they are in college for their lack of motivation, but for the most part I have enjoyed getting to know the student body at BCCC.

Campus Resources: There is awesome resources for anything you need really. There is NClive that is awesome for doing research for your classes or just for general knowledge. The best thing about NClive is that if BCCC doesn't have the hard copy of what you are looking for, IE a book, then they can find it and get it for you within just a few days.
They are always having some sort of activities going on at cam[pus, wither it is dances, social gatherings, carnivals, or appreciations, there is something for everyone.
The campus security is also a very excellent resource, I don't think I have been to campus once without seeing campus police at least 2 or 3 times walking around. Not to mention they, to me, go above and beyond to keep all the students safe and are very helpful when you need them. I needed them to jump my car a few times and they were always very nice and didn't act as though I was bothering them to do it.

Student Body: I am an older student; therefore most students are younger than me. The students are fairly friendly and there are older students such as myself. The young students are not as friendly as my generation. The diversity is fairly open to any student. We have hispanic, african/american and white caucasian. The male and female ratio is good with a lot of females attending.

Campus Resources: There is a small fitness center. I wish they had a basketball court outside. There are no pool tables or other rooms where recreation is available. There are great academic resources however.

Campus Resources: Fairly easy to access computers through learning resource center or student support services. There could be more rooms that allow free printing of work related assignments, etc.

Campus Resources: The Library or Learning Resource Center is excellent and the staff very helpful. There is no athletic facilities to speak of save a weight room. There are several activities and several campus clubs you can join. Each club then hosts several activities such as job training or vocational resources offerred. Lunch is provided for the students free of charge once a semester. There are trips offerred as well as dances for charitable causes.

Academic Flexibility: I have received all the help I have needed at Beaufort CCC. The key has been to ask for help when I needed it. Teachers and those in position at Student Support Services have always been available to me with answers and pointing me in the right direction. If you want to succeed and make excellent grades and communicate that with my professors and other professionals, they are more than happy to help.

Online Courses: My experience has been to begin immediately to familiarize myself with the course contents, syllabus and every option listed on the on-line blackboard access. I like to jump right in and begin working. It is always a mistake to get behind. Sending e-mails to my professors should problems arise is a plus. I have received good response back from my professors who really care and want me to succeed in the course.

Career Services: The career center is staffed to help students with what they need. We are having a job fair next week! I am getting help with my resume and making sure that I am able to get it out to prospective employers.

Academic Experience: My major is Medical Office Administration, and my concentration is Medical transcription. This will allow me to work where ever I want, I can even do my job at home and still have time for my kids, and commute less. The possibilities are endless!! I love working with people, computers, and working in an office. This will help me fulfill all of these and actually enjoy working!

Academic Flexibility: I am currently unemployed, and am also a single parent. The flexibility still had to be there to allow time for school, study time and my family. Everything worked out perfectly! I am able to study while I am on campus and get all my homework done and turned in while at school. This way I am able to spend time with my kids at home.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I feel that I am getting everything I expected out of my education. I was told about benefits that I could recieve from being a military veteran. I would advise that you find out what all you can qualify for as far as financial aid goes! The more money, the better and easier college life can be. The college I attend now is staffed with veterans reps and other people who are trained to help you get everything you deserve!

Campus Resources: The computer network is great because we have labs in every building almost. Free printing from the labs and a nice quiet work area. We also have the public library which provides great assistance to computers as well, even wifi that is available to the public and students.

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: My school actually has a Academic Student Resources room, where they will help assist you in whatever is needed. Also, it is great because whenever you need to make up a test, you can do so at anytime period the teacher assigns. Which is usually about a week.

4 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I say that they give you what you need, and also put a limit to the amount you can take out in loans. Which in turn is very helpful, however, i feel that, they don't know a students situation and why they may need to take out more. You must have a certain amount of credit hours earned to receive more aid. All in all, it has it's pros and cons.

3 College Senior

Online Courses: I do not like online courses. I wouldn't suggest them to anyone who doesn't have great self-control. It is so easy to forget about the course work when your not in the classroom and constantly reminded by your teacher. You have to be equipped with a great deal of self-control and responsibility to be able to handle it. I think classes like math shouldn't be offered as a online course for some, because than you basically have to teach yourself. I was very forgetful on due dates and assignments. Being online and the ability to explore so much more can be very distracting.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: The on-line opportunities appeal to me. I have enjoyed taking courses on-line. I also take classes at the college and have enjoyed them as well. The instructors are knowledgable, and appear to want to help you in any way possible, succeed in your/their course.

4 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I had no problem applying for and receiving my Pell Grant. I was also a recipient of several scholarships available on campus. The process was easy and the staff were always willing to help.

4 College Senior

Career Services: We have a good career center, excellent student support service center and an excellent transfer specialist.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: BCCC has an amazing Associate degree Nursing Program. They have worked so hard to ensure students get quality education. I feel that BCCC student's success rate will increase due to the quality of education they are providing.
