Academics: APU is a high quality university. I am very impressed with the level of the courses I have taken. The programs are well structured and the courses are rigorous. The instructors and staff are exellent.

College Senior

Scholarships: I have just started the scholarship search so do not yet have any experiences to share.

Weather: The weather is exceptional! Always warm, usually dry. Always sunny.

Local Atmosphere: Azusa is a very nice community very close to Los Angeles. THe weather is great and the people at this campus are wonderful.

Scholarships: Applied for financial aid via fafsa. Will be completing my portion with the school in the near future.

Parking: Pain in the BUTT – Parking on campus can be a nightmare! Freshman don't have cars and though that's a nuisance sometimes it's also a blessing. For those living on campus, cars are good for getting you on and off campus, that's about it. DON'T GET TICKETED FOR PARKING IN THE WRONG SPOT! They will charge you out the butt!

Guys & Girls: Everyone is friendly at APU!!! The returning students are always helpful and welcoming to new students. Everyone is polite and has manners. I have yet to meet a rude person.

Majors: Emphasis in Success – The instructors are all nice and understanding. Very approachable. There isn't a wide range or variety of majors to choose from, but they are condensed and intense. Very much intended for the serious student.

Diversity: Predominantly Caucasian – The diversity is some-what lacking. Although the classes are average to small in comparison to state universities, white/Caucasian students are over represented.

Facilities: The facilities are always clean and upkeep. There are a lot of areas to sit and do work, in-doors and outdoor areas. There are also plenty of places to eat on campus as well as off campus within walking distance.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: No Answer – I have not lived on campus while at APU up to this moment.

Drug Safety: None at All – During my first year at APU, I have never noticed any alcohol or drugs on campus. Students are very respectful in obeying school rules of no alcohol or drug use on campus.

Scholarships: Easy and Helpful – Simple and faculty very helpful with any questions regarding financial aid situations. They make sure that you complete all paperwork before the deadline so that you won't lose your financial aid. If there are any questions that you have, they will try to answer them as soon as they can. They are willing to explain every detail you would need to know about financial aid if you are confused.

Local Atmosphere: Fairly Urban – Azusa is a growing town with new shopping centers and is within a reasonable drive from several major cities including LA and Pasadena. The only thing to consider is it's not in the safest neighborhood, but the Campus Safety and local police do an excellent job of keeping people safe and educated.

Weather: It's almost always sunny at APU, as it is located in beautiful Southern California! There are, on average, about 5 rainy days per month in the winter/spring. The rest of the days are nice and mild. In the summer, though, the temps can rise to 100. But this summer we didn't have very high temps.

Local Atmosphere: Within an Hour of Downtown LA – Azusa is a small town with a mall next to the school, it is also within an hour of LA and attractions such as Disneyland and California Adventure. Also, APU is only 15 minutes away from San Dimas where there is a water park so there is always something to do off campus.

Health & Safety: Personal Safety – There are always security members ready to escort you to your dorm if you feel uncomfortable and they are always quick to arrive.

Scholarships: Covered Most of My Tuition – I recieved a decent amount of scholarships and ended up having to pay very little. Thankfully, the bulk of my tuition was paid for with scholarships.

Guys & Girls: Guys and Girls Seem Very Christ Centered – Those in my class are dressed respectfully but not uptight. Good looking group of young people. And all seem like they have a good head on their shoulders.

Facilities: Working Professional – They treat me as a working professional with a life outside of school.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Pretty Strong – The school is pretty strict about maintaining good grades but I wish they had more opportunities for you to stay focused like encouraged quiet atmospheres in libraries or had midnight breakfasts more often. Midnight Breakfasts are when professors come around 10pm-1am to review material before finals

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Not Very Aware of Any of This – APU always has something exciting going on but it is not necessarily partying or anything. More like clubs and volunteer opportunities or concerts all of which are pretty interesting.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Nothing Difficult – I declared my major as English, so I became an English major. End of story, no application.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Sketchy Area – The one thing you wouldn't know from a campus tour during the day is that Azusa is sketchy at night. Students are constantly getting emails from Campus Safety asking if anyone has information about crimes that happened near campus. Definitely never walk anywhere alone at night. That makes it hard to really do anything unless all your friends want to go too, or unless someone has a car.
