2 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is not much diversity on campus. The majority of students are Caucasian. However; the school does offer different clubs and multiethnic programs for students to take part in.

Nightlife: Azusa Pacific is a Christian university. The school is in an area where there is not much nightlife and the school prohibits any kind of partying.

Health & Safety: I leave the library at 1/2 in the morning at times and I feel pretty safe. We have campus safety who walks back and forth from the campus to the apartment/dorms, as well as shuttles that you can escort you back to where you need to go within APU.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: I dont drink or do drugs at all, but I know people that do. They don't pressure you at all. The drug scene isn't that huge, but for the people that do drugs- everyone knows about it.

2 College Junior

Nightlife: There isn't much of a night life here. We make the best of what we have, and if you're looking for some night fun you usually have to do some driving out of Azusa to find something to do.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Directly around campus, there are mostly fast food places. If you are looking for something quick and inexpensive, you'll definitely find it here. Some of the recommended places that students often go to are Alberto's Mexican Food, B-Man's, and Siam Palace Thai Cuisine. There are also a Burger King, Yoshinoya, Chipotle, Panda Express, and a new Chick-Fil-A across the street from East Campus. If you are looking for nicer, sit down restaurants, it would probably be best to have a car, as they are located farther away.

Facilities: APU just recently remodeled the gym on campus, and it is significantly better than it was last year. There is a weight room, an elliptical/treadmill room, and an area to do lunges and situps. A locker room with bathrooms and showers was also added just this past year. The hours were also expanded in order to allow more students to utilize this resource.

3 College Senior

Diversity: The school has a very hard policy against homosexuality. Some students would say that the policy is unnecessarily harsh.
In terms of ethnic diversity, faculty and staff discuss the importance of diversity. Minorities are very much outnumbered here. Overall, the campus is fairly homogeneous in terms of ethnic diversity and economic status. Most people are white and from the middle class.

Athletics: Sports are a huge thing on campus and fun to attend/participate in

Computers: Many to use in the library...also has an Apple store.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many cheap options around campus that meet a wide variety of likes/needs.

Overall Experience: APU's mission statement says it best: "Azusa Pacific University is an evangelical Christian community of disciples and scholars who seek to advance the work of God in the world through academic excellence in liberal arts and professional programs of higher education that encourage students to develop a Christian perspective of truth and life."
Azusa Pacific University offers its students an experience that is truly livechanging. Students leave ready to engage the world and impact it for a purpose that is greater than themselves. That's what APU is all about.

Weather: Southern California, need I say more?

5 College Junior

Transportation: APU offers a trolley system to get students from campus to campus as well as a shuttle system available through the night that I mentioned in the Health and Safety section. APU also has a system to pick students up from the airport that need a ride back to school.

4 College Junior

Parking: APU students desiring to park on-campus are required to buy a parking pass for the year which covers them in their living area as well as APU lots not reserved for faculty. APU's west campus lot is so large that a spot is always available. The living area parking is sometimes hit or miss but APU is very accommodating

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: APU does a great job of keeping drugs off of the campus. Campus Safety deserves much of the credit for that. But, APU students are a large part of that as well. The vast majority of APU students are driven and focused individuals that do not find interest in drug use.

College Junior

Greek Life: APU does not offer Greek Life. Although, it does offer many types of themed housing and clubs that allow students to connect in a meaningful way.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: APU definitely has a lot to offer as far as late-night activities. With LA around the corner students can go to events in Hollywood, Santa Monica, and many other places. However, the school prides itself on being an exciting yet safe enviroment for students that does not allow on-campus parties.

5 College Junior

Athletics: APU is a NCAA Division 2 school with 19 Varsity Sports, and was the NAIA Director's Cup Winner from 2005-2012. Additionally, it is the only Christian school with a Football team in Southern California, as well as the only Division 2 Football team in Southern California.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: APU students are passionate, determined, and possess a zest for life not seen in many other campus communities. This has resulted in mission teams going to 20 different countries per year, 125,000 hours of service in 2012, and and an impact on the world unmatched by other Universities.

5 College Junior

Diversity: Azusa Pacific has students of many different ethnic groups, backgrounds, and experiences. This includes 282 international students representing 30 countries as well as more than 50 different denominations of Christianity.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Students prefering to live off-campus can choose from a few great and inexpensive apartment complexes as well as affordable housing in the surrounding areas.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: APU has great housing for students ranging from Freshmen to Super Seniors. One advantage is that housing becomes more independent each year. For example, as a Freshman you have no kitchen, a group bathroom (besides the suites in Engstrom) etc. As a Sophomore you have a living room, bigger kitchen, and a student's independence slowly grows into apartment syle living. Additionally, most students live on-campus all 4 years which makes the community great and lessens the stress of having to find off-campus housing.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: As mentioned in Local Atmosphere, APU has more than enough off-campus eateries in the area surrounding it. They include Applebee's, Chipotle, an Italian Restaurant called Dalia's, Subway, Pizza Hut, Wing City, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, McDonald's, KFC, Alberto's, Marie Calendars, Falafel Me, Juan Pollo, Little Caesars, Taco King, Max's Mexican Restaurant, a few Chinese eateries, Tutti Frutti, Pinkberry, and Yogurtland, all within a quarter mile of the school. Additionally, a Chick-Fil-A and Habit are going in across the street and are scheduled to open Spring 2013.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: There is a wide range of eateries on APU's campus. They include every type of food a student would want to eat. Although APU does not have outside vendors on-campus that students can charge meals with, they have options for Mexican food, sushi, barbecue, sandwiches, and a buffet style cafeteria for students.
