4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There are several different types of guys AND girls at Avila. There are many people that are very friendly and want to get to know you. But there are also people that prefer to be left alone to study, but for the most part everyone is very nice, and you will always find someone to make friends with.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: I feel that the diversity is great on campus. However, the fact that it is a religious college I believe may impact some people's decision on choosing the university. I think the diversity may be greater if the University wasn't religious.

5 College Junior

Diversity: We have a ton of International Students. One of the missions of Avila is to be accepting of everyone.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Most of the professors are very knowledgable about their classes. The curriculum and grading processes are explained at the beginning of the semester and are very consistent. The work load was a little heavy. It would be nice if some classes lessened the work load so students could balance their classes more evenly.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The process wasn't difficult, I just didn't receive all the money I needed and I felt like athletic scholarship money was distributed unfairly.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Avila's nursing program has a very good reputation around the Kansas City area. It's the perfect balance of classwork and lab work.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: They have a Subway on campus as well as the cafeteria. However in order to eat in the cafeteria for non-residents is $50 for a meal card.

3 College Junior

Majors: Avila needs to have a program set up to help people in the Art Therapy program to work in. It is very discouraging to not be able to see first hand what it is like. Some of the graduate programs I have looked at state that you need to have at least a year in the field to apply.

3 College Junior

Academics: The school needs more instructors and knowledge of the major,

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Avila is a small campus so you get to know everyone pretty well, which can be comforting at times and you don't get lost in the crowd like you can at bigger schools. It's close to downtown Kansas City so there is always something to do.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The area is more of a suburb which makes the rent extremely high.

5 College Junior

Athletics: The athletics at Avila are not the best, however the students the school recruits have the drive and determination to never give up.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Suburban location, but close enough to the city to enjoy it.

3 College Freshman

Parking: The resident parking is limited but all parking is relatively close to campus.

2 College Freshman

Nightlife: Avila is a hands on school, it is also a religious school and a dry campus so there is no nightlife like D1 schools

5 College Freshman

Majors: Avila University has the best Radiology program in Missouri

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I received a good amount of financial aid, the financial aid office and employees were very efficient and knowledgeable. Everything went smoothly and they are good at notifying me if there are any questions.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a variety of close affordable restaurants to eat at around the Kansas city area, as well as entertainment events, sporting events, nice parks and shopping areas. The Plaza is a K.C. Favorite as well as numerous indoor and outdoor malls. Student discounts are available and welcomed at events and restaurants.

5 College Freshman

Majors: The support received from counselors are bar none. You get a team of support even before you step foot on campus. I think anyone would thrive in this environment.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Campus live is fun here at Avila. As with everything it is what you make it.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Most areas of the campus are very comfortable and up to date.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Avila is a beautiful campus and I have felt very safe here. There have been a few incidents with theft in the parking lots, but we are in Kansas City.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: I haven't had any problems with the financial aid at Avila. They have been very helpful in the whole process.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Kansas City is known for its barbecue and there are tons of great barbecue spots, by far the best I've had in my life. There are tons of great places to get good food from and the off-campus dining is some of the best!

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The newer dorms such as Avila Hall and Thompson are made of suites and is more suitable for the college lifestyle. If you are a freshman you are more than likely to end up in Carondelet or Rigeway and those aren't the best of dorms. I stayed in Carondelet my freshman year and it wasn't the best compared to being in the upper echelon Thompson Hall.
