Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Ave Maria offers a unique and fulfilling experience to its students by providing an excellent and well-rounded education, a Catholic foundation and community, and an opportunity for growth and spiritual development. Overall, it’s an experience that cannot be found anywhere else! Although Ave Maria is a new university, it has grown despite the hardships of the recession, demonstrating the determination of the school and student body. While this may not be the school for everyone, Ave Maria will definitely help you grow intellectually, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The combination of a liberal arts education and love for God helps to drive the University and its students. The University may not have the best sports teams and isn’t located in the most exciting town, but the knowledge and wisdom gained here is incomparable.

While the academics and modernity of the school are certainly impressive, it's the community and faith of the school that ultimately attract its students. Between the households and dances, essays and lectures, students at Ave not only gain an education but also an experience like none other. Ave certainly isn't perfect and it still needs a lot more work before it is fully developed, but considering the newness of it, the University undoubtedly has a lot of opportunity to grow. The current students are helping to build the foundation for one of the best Catholic universities around.

Weather: Southwest Florida, best weather there is probably.

Nightlife: Alright... The Nightlife. Here's your Ave nightlife in a painfully truthful summary, there's the Pub, there's the Gazebos, there's the infrequent single sex dorm room party (or the both which ends by midnight and will have RA's stopping by), then there's a few other locations that will pop up now and then, not as popular but that's for good reason.

I'll describe a typical weekend night here, at least from a party perspective. You'll hang out in a dorm room for a bit, with your friends. Around 10, you'll mosey over to the Pub, hang out there until 2. At 2 when the pub closes, you'll head to the Gazebos, they're in a field between all the dorms, decent size. Someone usually brings out speakers and now you'll hang out here until you decide to go to bed, or security stops by and depending on the person sometimes will give you a hard time.

Honestly that^ happens more often than not. There's a few exceptions now and then, and different groups of people do different things. It's not a party school. But, if you meet some good people- which is easy to do, you can make your fun.

Overall Experience: Ave has its ups and downs..... I'm annoyed throughout the year by different things, usually the lack of options on Saturday night, pretty much one option every weekend. But at the same time, the academics are great, the facilities/dorms are great, and I've met some great friends. Ave takes some getting used to, but once you start to figure it out it's not as bad.

Local Atmosphere: Very little happens in Ave Town. Few restaurants, a Publix, a gas station, and that about sums it up.

Facilities: Beautiful campus, maintained exceptionally well. 3 mile long entrance road having very detailed landscaping the entire way is a good example. All the buildings are under 10 years old, everything is well maintained and clean in general. Great facilities.
