Athletics: I here the atheletics are good at Ave Maria. I have not been to any currently but hope to see some hopefully this year.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics at Ave Maria are just beginning to come into their own. Facilities are not great, but projects are underway as far as a football stadium. The basketball teams (men's and women's) are easily the most fun sporting events to attend at the school.

3 College Senior

Athletics: Small School: Small Sports – We're great at basketball and that's about it for now. Because it's still a small school and the focus is academics, the fans are rather limited but growing. This situation is actually likely to improve in the coming years. C+ for the hope and the fact that since it's a small school, you know all the players.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Entering With a Bang – The basketball programs are the best- Women with the conference title, and the men with the runner up conference title. The soccer programs are still entering, and we just began a football team this past season.

2 College Freshman

Athletics: Words Cannot Express Our Shame – Both Men & Women's basketball and soccer are good. Our football team sucks. Like for real. Men's baseball is adequate, girl's softball is promising. Cross country has suffered the loss of their coach and nationals runner so...not so hot.

Although the athletics at Ave Maria are by no means bad, studies and academics take priority for most students here. However, lots of students participate in at least one sport, so student involvement is undoubtedly good. School spirit is somewhat lacking, but more people have started to attend games, and it is steadily improving. Furthermore, Ave just opened its newest sports facility, the Golisano Field House, which is certain to help improve the quality of the sports even more. This facility not only provides practice space for basketball and other indoor sports, but it also has a new and fully equipped weight room.

Intramural and club sports are probably just as popular—or even more so—than the intercollegiate sports. There are games and practices going on all the time, and quite a number of students participate in them. The team spirit in the club and intramural sports is definitely not lacking. In addition to the Field House, Ave Maria students also have the option of working out in the fitness center on the second floor of the Student Union, which is well maintained and equipped with many different fitness machines.

Most Popular Sports
The most popular sports on campus are basketball, football, baseball, and soccer.
Most Overlooked Teams
Rugby, rowing, and golf are the most overlooked teams on campus. Although there is active participation in all three, they tend to get overshadowed by other, more popular sports.
School Spirit
The school spirit here is pretty good considering the small student body, but it could be a bit livelier. The most spirit comes out in Dorm Wars, but as far as actual sports events are concerned, the students aren't as enthusiastic as they could be. The boys' sports games garner much more attention than the girls' teams, which can be upsetting, but at least school spirit is shown. However, Ave Maria could definitely afford some more athletic zeal.
Getting Tickets
Students can get into home games for free, but tickets for away games are harder to come by.
Best Place to Take a Walk
There are a few off-campus parks that are really nice for talking a walk. If you're looking for a place on campus, the nicest would probably be next to the canal, which has the loveliest sunsets in Ave.
