3 College Senior

Computers: Computer access is OKAY. There is a 24-hr computer lab in the library with printers. You get $50 of print credit each semester, which is more than necessary.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The printing is easy with cheap printing costs.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: I have no complaints about the computers on campus. They work really good and there is numerous computers on campus available to use when ever you please.

2 College Junior

Computers: The computers are still running XP. They are all linked together, which is nice and all, but..... XP's was released 10 years ago, and the tech they use is just as old! additionally, about once or twice a semester, the Wi-Fi is completely dead for about 3-4 days(occasionally as long as a week). In fairness, the Internet speed is VERY good(generally speaking) when it is working, and the IT department gives out free Ethernet cables.

3 College Junior

Computers: Efficient, but Not Best – The computer labs at Austin College have a reasonable number of computers and are usually not busy, except during finals week. The computers are not the newest but serve their purpose. The wireless network is acceptable and printing is easy.

Most of the students on campus have their own laptops and carry them everywhere. Most everyone in the WCC is on their computers, and if not, you can be sure it is beside them. In the spring, people will be spread out on the lawn with their computers. There are computer labs around campus, in the residence halls, Wright Campus Center, Abel Library, Hopkins basement, and the Roo Suites Commons. You can always find a computer open, unless you are trying to print something during lunch in the WCC. The biggest problem is usually that the printers will be out of paper. Many students carry paper to the printer just in case. Each student gets $50 in print credits each semester, so many students use the school computers rather than bring their own.

Ethernet hookups are provided in the dorms, Abel Library, and the Wright Campus Center. However, most students make use of the wireless system, which can be accessed almost anywhere on campus, even outside. The network can be slow, especially during prime times for Internet usage, but that can happen when you have a few hundred people on the internet at times. While it is slow at times, it is usually reliable, even if it's taking a long time to think occasionally. The IT center offers students free computer diagnosis and repair. The staff is a bunch of techies who will tirelessly and obsessively pore over your computer until the problem is resolved. They also work hard to keep the system running smoothly. If there is a problem with the wireless network, even if it is the middle of the night, they will be on campus working to resolve it. So, even when there are issues with the server, it's usually repaired within a few hours.
