Campus Dining: Campus food is much like fast food. But there are many places to go eat on campus. Students can choose to go to the cafeteria which is almost like a buffet. Most students choose to go to the Spartan Spot to eat more like fast food and hang out. There is also the Cart to get snacks.

Academics: Aurora University have many resources that all students can take advantage of on campus.

Overall Experience: I Love It – Aurora university is a great school and place to be. You make wonderful friends and the small class sizes and the one on one respect from the teachers make it so much easier to stay on top of your course work. I love just hanging out on the Quad with my friends and there is always something to do! I would choose my school again because I love the small class sizes and how close you get with everyone in your major. You become one big family

Campus Housing: Campus Living – The dorms are very nice at Aurora university. However we are a growing school and many people want to live on campus which makes the living situation slightly more difficult. They have extended rooms that involve 3-4 people living in one room. However they are building a brand new Dorm so the problem shouldn't last much longer. Upperclassman however can live off campus and their are plenty of houses and apartment complexes around campus to provide the close distance to campus.

Academics: Aurora University has wonderful academics offered. We are known for our College of Education, Nursing and Social Work. The professors are wonderful and willing to help you when ever it is needed. The work load is about right but some times can become stressful as at any university. The curriculum and registration process are very smooth and there are always people to help. I came to Aurora because of the small campus and class sizes. I love the atmoshpere that is here and the people are great to be around!

Greek Life: Greek life on campus is very important. Recently, Greek organizations were not allowed on campus because they did not give back to the campus enough. However, that has all changed this year. All of the Greek sororities and fraternities have come together. Greek Council monitors all the sororities and fraternities to make sure that they adequately contributing to the campus. Greeks are recognized at almost all campus events, and Greeks play a huge role in community service events. These events are usually open to Greeks and non Greeks alike. Even if you are not part of a sorority or fraternity, you will likely interact with one of these groups at some point. I would recommend to everyone that Greek life is fun and rewarding. It really helps you to get connected on campus. The Greeks do not have housing at Aurora University, the city of Aurora prohibits it. This means that you will not find frat parties at Aurora University. However, Greeks are still very connected to each other and the campus. Greeks are well liked by non-Greeks, and Greeks are constantly working to make sure that Greek life is respectable.

Off-Campus Dining: A Bit of a Drive – Aurora University is located in the middle of a suburban area. This is NOT a college town. However, the positive side to this is that there are plenty of places to eat within ten miles. The negative side to this is that there are very few places that are within walking distance. To the east of Aurora University you can find great authentic Mexican food. To the west and north there are many chain restaurants and you can always find something you will like.

Academics: Social Work – The Social Work program at Aurora University is selective. You must apply to the program at the end of your sophomore year and have met the prerequisite classes and GPA requirements. You must also pass a background check. Once accepted into the program you will have to take two years of social work classes and complete an internship during your senior year. The curriculum is rigorous. Most faculty will tell you that Social Work curriculum is the second most demanding workload, right after the nursing student curriculum. In the Chicago area, Aurora University is very well known, and respected for it's social work program. It continues to grow and excel.

Drug Safety: Not Much – There are very few drug users at Aurora University, although drinking is heavy. Even though we are a dry campus, there is a normal college obsession with drinking parties. If people are doing drugs, it's usually just pot.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Lots of Jocks – Because of AU's small size, a large majority of the student population are jocks. If you enjoy lots of football players and soccer girls, this school is for you.

Local Atmosphere: Little to Do – Aurora is a town with very poor, but also very rich. Aurora University is located in a middle to well-off neighborhood. We are about 50 miles west of Chicago, so a trip to the city is not far off. The school is literally in the middle of a neighborhood, which makes it hard for expansion, parking, and off campus living. Students who do choose to rent near campus get frequent complaints from neighbors.

Facilities: Great Teachers – If there is one thing that you want to go to Aurora University for: it is for the professors that teach there. They are some of the most inspirational people to be around. Esspecially if you are apart of the nursing program!

College Sophomore

Nightlife: I Don't Apply – I have seen people run around going to parties, but I am in college for classes, not for fun, so I wouldn't know. Sorry

3 College Sophomore

Computers: Crowded, Usually Broken, Wireless Down – It always seems that the labs at Aurora University are crowded during times from around 10 am - till about 7 pm. There are two computer labs on campus, Dunham Hall labs and The Library labs. The labs at Dunham are used for classes and the Library are almost always full. It always seems that when you need to use a computer or printer or copier or scanner, there is always something broken. Also the Wireless internet around campus seems to go down every other weekend or so.

Facilities: Fitness as Au – We have a new turf field that is great for athletic, but we lack the on campus fitness. We have a small weight room and fitness center which both are in two different locations. This is inconvenient because you have to do one workout and then get your stuff to go to the other building which most of the time the football team is in the weight room taking it up and most girls dont want to work out with tons of boys. If only we would build a recreation center that includes weights, cardio, and an indoor track. I feel more people would be willing to increase their fitness levels.

Weather: The weather at AU is the typical Chicago weather including the cold winters. This effects students when having to walk to class in the below zero wind chill. Classes typically never get canceled even though most of our students are commuters. Otherwise the weather is typical weather for school/Illinois

Campus Strictness: Strictness at AU Sucks – AU has dumb campus rules. It all starts with the parking because everyone whether you are an on-campus student or computer, you pay the same for a parking permit. They do not monitor how many permits they give out so most of the time you pay to park where non parking permit people do (streets around campus). They also restrict what lots you can park in. The commuters get to park wherever they want where on-campus students have to park in the two most inconvenient lots.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: Drinking Over Drugs – I do not here a lot about drugs compared to what I hear about drinking and the house parties that occurred over the weekend. Drinking at AU is more popular.

2 College Senior

Greek Life: Greeks at AU – Aurora does not have a Greek Life. We have two sorority/fraternities that people can join but the campus as a whole does not really know about them. Aurora mainly has groups/clubs in which do most of what Greeks would do at a larger campus.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: Campus Safety – I feel pretty safe on campus with campus safety just being across the campus. I see campus safety making rounds, driving around the campus to monitor crime, and over all just keeping this campus safe. We have had some unusual crime but as a campus we have overcome it. Like usual campuses you want to keep you doors locked at all time because campus safety cant prevent everything. Of course campus safety does not like drinking in the rooms or people being loud so minimize this in order to not get caught.

4 College Senior

Academics: Most students came to Aurora University for the size and atmosphere. The professors here at Aurora get to know you on a personal level which helps you in times of need. You can turn to them for support or advise or typical school help. Professors go out of their way sometimes to get you the help you need. Any other school you are just a number, but here at Aurora University you are (insert name, class) etc

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Nightlife at Aurora University happens for any aged student whether they be 21 or not. There are very few clubs around unless you go into downtown Chicago. Most people enjoy going to typical house parties because its free, you can hang with your friends, be social, and usually are not far off campus.

4 College Senior

Athletics: Fan Support – Aurora University has many different sports going on at one time and we always have fans to support us. Parents, alumni, neighbors, and students all come to support the Spartans every chance they get. Most times in the fall soccer games occur before or after a football game which allows fans to see more than one sport play. With the unbelievable support from the fans, the spartans go out and have great games.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Aurora University has many different shopping area around which makes it easy for student. Not only are there strip malls with local stores in them and a mall, but we also has a huge outlet mall that is only about 15 minutes away. It lets students get off campus, shop, and have a good time!

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Small Classes, Accessable Staff, Tutoring – The class size is small, 30-35 students. No 100+ lecture hall classes here. Getting access to the staff for clarifications on the material is not a problem, and the school offers tutoring for those that need additional help.
