Off-Campus Dining: A Lot to Choose from! There are many dinning options located in and around Aurora University. The university has a total of three locations to eat at or carryout. They've all got healthy options such as, soups, salads, yogurts and fresh fruits and vegetables. Outside of Aurora University there are many restaurant options that are quite affordable for the student on a budget. One of my favorites outside the University is Famous Dave's. They mainly serve barbecued meats and a variety of sides such as, fries, salads and cornbread.

Overall Experience: Compared with other colleges, the cost is affordable and the staff is great. I would choose Aurora University again for these reasons. The coursework generally integrates real-life experience, which helps me with retention and application.

Transportation: I carpool from a town 40 minutes away almost every day, so the cost is gas. I have taken the train from Aurora to Chicago and that was good, but I do not have personal experience of public transportation inside the city.

Campus Dining: Dining Options – I do not have a meal plan and I live off-campus. The on-campus food court in Dunham Hall where I am most of the time sells ridiculously expensive, yet simple sandwiches. I only buy coffee there when I really need it!

Overall Experience: Both my husband and I mistakenly went to Aurora University. I graduated (no thanks to them...a LOT of problems along the way), but they have completely screwed my husband over. They NEVER give you any information about what you have to do for the program...such as due dates, what steps to take to make sure you're all set, etc. Student responsibility is one thing, Aurora U is just negligent. They don't care about helping students complete the program and they do not help anyone with program requirements.
They actually had my husband registered for a class and then said he couldn't actually do it because he didn't fill out 1 piece of paperwork correctly...they had a whole year to tell him this, but never told him until he was in the actual class. They took our money for the class, but won't let him actually do the coursework.
AVOID AUROR U AT ALL COSTS. They don't care if you don't finish, because then while the program is taking you extra time, they're collecting more money from you.

Campus Strictness: Some What Strict – AU is not too strict. We had at many times a person dressed in a Gumby costume running around entertaining us students. The ones in that costume are students. Not much complains about Gumby. Campus safety how ever plans to track gumby down.

Drug Safety: Nothing Too Serious – Aurora University is a dry campus. Not much peer pressure goes on and the policies against drugs and alcohol is enforced by campus safety.

Athletics: There is some fan support and the athletes work hard. Yet, it is still a bit average. The athletic facilities need to expand. There is only one Activity room, or better known as dance studio, and it is always occupied. So, students who just want to dance independently do not have the chance to. There are no tennis courts on campus either, so those who do not drive, are not always able to have access to the courts out of campus. Over all, the school is growing and needs to expand athletic facilities to meet the growing and diverse students living on campus.

Majors: The Joy of Teaching – I enjoy my career I have choosen, yet this field does has it's ups and downs. The tiime put into to become a elementary teacher seems dreadful. Honestly it doesn't seem like you have done much until a student has learned a new concept.

Academics: My Program – I am currently enrolled at Aurora University's Bachelors program. My advising counselor was great and very helpful with getting me enrolled yet my financial advisor did not give me any help with how to pay for school.

Local Atmosphere: Aurora University feels like walking into the city, it's very easy to get lost. Yet the scenery makes the effort to find a building worth it. With their colorful gardens, and lovely homes the school is located in between. Aurora University's atmosphere is calming and makes learning at their facilty enjoyable.

Guys & Girls: Aurora University's student population is very traditional. Aurora consists of a 3 to 2 ratio of female to male. Many students often sport a sweatpants and t-shirt look while upper classmen who may have internships will sport a more business casual look. Aurora University students are comfortable in their skin and dress how they please.

Academics: Intimate Atmosphere – Aurora University is a small campus that hosts about 4000 students both undergrad and graduate. This provides for small class sizes and a chance for students to get to know their professors. Aurora University operates with an excellent staff always available to help students with any of their needs. Aurora University is well known for its social work, nursing, and education program.

Local Atmosphere: Fun Area – Located just outside the heart of downtown Aurora, next door to the city of Naperville, and just a short trip from Chicago, Aurora University is an ideal place to attend school. Students can enjoy unique restaurants and a pretty rive walk right in downtown Aurora just minutes from campus. Aurora University is also just minutes away from Chicago Premium Outlets and Fox Valley Shopping Mall. Students may also want to venture to downtown Naperville to enjoy another river walk as well as some unique shops and a fun night life. Aurora University is also just minutes from Hollywood Palms Theater, a unique dinner theater that also hosts many special events with well known Hollywood Celebrities. Finally, students are also just minutes from the Aurora transportation center in which they can hop on the metra train and take a short ride down to the City of Chicago to enjoy museums, Navy Peir, unique restaurants, shopping and much more!

Scholarships: Could Be Much Better – They don't care about your problems, they just want your money. The workers in fa are very nice, however.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: If they weren't so money-hungry, I probably would do it again.

Academics: If you choose to be an athletic training major, be prepared for a major workload and no social life. However, the satisfaction of completion is amazing.

Parking: Twenty Five Dollars? At Aurora there is really no need for a car if you decide that you want to live on campus because of the proximity of classes are as well as your dorms. If you decide that you would like to have a car the school charges only twenty five dollars per year for parking on campus. On top of that great deal, there are many side streets that you can park on that is walking distance to any of your many destinations.

Campus Strictness: Living Life on Campus – The strictness is put into the hands of the individual. On campus you will not be able to abuse any type of substances. There are quite a bit of rules that you need to follow but if they are not followed it is once again all on you personally. You live your life with the intention of becoming a adult and the people of Aurora help with that. The consequences whether they are good or bad will be enforced.

Health & Safety: The safety felt when walking into the campus is like when you walk into your own home. Aurora is a small campus that is protected well by security and filled with students, teachers, and advisers to make sure that you will never feel threatened. The feeling of security is one that seems to be valued and it is a comfort to students who are leaving home for the first time.

Scholarships: I received a good amount of financial aid the first few semesters I was at Aurora University; however, due to the fact that I am still considered a dependent, my father made more money this year and as a result I got almost no aid from my school this year. I also work full time while out of school and only 1 day a week when school is in session, so it is VERY hard for me to come up with just about any money to pay for school. I would definitely consider outside sources for aid when applying here because it is costly each semester, especially once you get into your chosen program.

4 College Junior

Diversity: There is a diverse population of students and faculty on Aurora's campus. They are also very accepting of all backgrounds. I never hear or see people be discriminatory of other students because of their beliefs, attitudes, or physical appearance.

2 College Junior

Academics: Registration Process – The registration process at Aurora University is quite painstaking. They do not allow you to sign up for courses via the internet as most colleges/universities allow you to do. You must register in person and with an advisor that follows your area of study and sorted by last name. You must make an appointment with your advisor; the advisors are VERY hard to get in to see. They are always booked with appointments by the time you call, no matter when you call. Then, the classes or professors you wanted are gone by the time you get in to register. This definitely is a downside to Aurora University that I did not expect to encounter.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: Its Average – needs improving in the gym, and needs a little more advertising

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Aurora University is a small campus that is surrounded by neighborhoods. So there are housing and apartments students can search for if planning to be a commuter.
