Facilities: Love this campus. Only school that gave me the option of commuting and everyone is here to help when we need it.

Athletics: Since I lived off campus and am not a huge sports fan, I never really got involved with any sports or watched any games.

Campus Housing: I never lived on campus and actually never entered a dorm because all my student friends were also commuters.

Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: I did very little after-class hanging around campus or fellow students. AU is a dry campus, but I did hear a few times about people partying. AU often does late night events such as bringing in a magician, having a dance, or feeding us pancakes during finals week. I never was available to/chose to drive back on campus for those events, but they sounded like fun.

Diversity: If you are looking for a lot of diversity, then come to AU and be the diversity. Since I was a Sociology major I heard a lot about social justice and equality issues, so my classroom experience was very accepting and encouraging of diversity. The student body, I feel, is quite friendly. As far as diversity goes, many students (such as myself) were Caucasian and of Protestant or Catholic background. There is an LGBT club on campus.

Health & Safety: I was a commuting student. That being said, I never had a safety concern while taking morning, afternoon, or evening classes. The campus is surrounded by a subdivision and it always felt like a very safe one. The campus counseling center is also very welcoming and the employees are present on campus during activity fairs and such to make their presence known.

Local Atmosphere: I'm an Aurora native, so I'm a bit biased. The Aurora area is familiar and I like it. For attractions/activities, there is a free zoo in Aurora (Philip's Park Zoo), the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall, RiverEdge Park, the Brookfield Zoo nearby, SportsZone (with mini golf and go-karts), many forest preserves, Six Flags just over an hour away, Chicago about 45 minutes away, downtown Naperville, Luigi's (laser tag, arcade) a few blocks from the campus, Brunswick Zone (bowling, laser tag, arcade), Starved Rock State Park (waterfalls!) about an hour and a half away, the Fox Valley Westfield Mall, and others places. There are a lot of Latino businesses with great authentic food. There are also numerous thrift shops nearby (which I consider a staple), and nearby Aldi and Big Lots grocery stores to help keep the grocery bill low. If you drive five miles in any direction you'll find the same chain stores like Walmart, Best Buy, Chile's, Panera, etc.

Off-Campus Housing: I got married shortly before transferring to AU, so our housing hunt was different than most college students' will be. I did not have a roommate, but a husband instead. We rented from my in-laws' property, so there was no extended search. On campus I did often see posters listing available apartments or rooms in houses where other students wanted to add a roommate so they could split the rent.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: You will always see people playing a sport on the quad.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: So far everywhere there is diversity.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Everyday the dorms are cleaned .

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: We have police officers patrolling inside and outside campus. We also have alarms in case of emergency.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: In my school they offer counselors to students who need help filling out their FAFSA.

2 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The president actually sent a nasty email to the whole student body stating that if someone broke the rules not only would that person be punished, but the whole dorm and or sport team would be punished. Kinda Nazi-esque...

2 College Junior

Greek Life: Very few fraternities are on campus. So only a couple have representation.
