Campus Housing: Living in a Dorm – The dorm experience is what attracted me to Augustana. Living in a dorm is cheaper than renting a apartment and I get more chance to socialize with people and to make friends.
The room may seem smaller than what I was used to but I have a great roommate and we get alone just fine.
Each building has a living room and a kitchen in which I enjoy backing cookies and talking to random people.

Majors: Psychology Is Great – I really do enjoy the Psychology program here. The professors try their best to help you with internships and doing research for grad school

Majors: Potential Job – I have not had an internship yet, but plan on having one after my Sophomore year. Sioux Falls is a large town so I am not worried with finding one, because the school has a good network with businesses in the town.

Majors: No Process – For my Exercise Science program there is no application process really. They look at all incoming freshman who have that as their intended major and look at grades, but we are a small school and our program is small.

Parking: A lot of the parking lots are pretty small. So you have to part far away or on the street sometimes.

Overall Experience: Great Experiences – Augustana is a great college. Students and staff are super nice and very helpfull. THe staff wants every student to succeed. The library is open all hours for students to study and use computers.I went to a University college before going to Augie and if i could i would have started at augie first.

Weather: Good and Bad – Spring is not too bad if it is raining you don't have to walk to far plus you can have an umbrella. the snow stinks but sidewalks and parking lots are always cleared. If the roads are bad some classes get cancelled.

Off-Campus Dining: Multiple Places – There are many spots to eat outside of campus pizza, burgers, juice stop, dairy queen and many others that are available to our needs. Cheap prices, great food easy access.

Weather: Midwestern weather is incredibly unpredictable. The winters are cold and sometimes the sidewalks are icy, but maintenance is pretty good about keeping them clear and classes aren't too far from dorms. Fall and spring temperatures fluxuate like it's nobody's business, so it's a good idea to bring a sweatshirt along whenever you go out!

Campus Dining: Food Is Always Available! The commons is always a good place to get your basic breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I love the Huddle! There is always an abundant variety of snack foods and drinks, and the replacement meal program is a life saver. With replacement meals, you can swipe your I.D. card to use one of your meals to get food (like a burger and fries, sub and chips, or a pre-prepared market meal). The Huddle is a great place to hang out with friends and do homework, but if you've got a class in 10 minutes you can always get your food to go.

Computers: The availability of non-personal computers on campus is good. There are two computer labs (that I know of; I own my own computer, so I don't use them much) close to the tech-support desk. I can go anywhere on campus and have access our wireless internet, and the speed and reliability is fast and strong. There are mini computer labs and printers in every dorm building; each student is given an account with a certain number of pages to keep track of how much they print. Laptops are always useful, however, especially when taking notes in class or doing homework. Not owning a computer isn't a big deal, however, since the computer labs in the dorms are always available.

Off-Campus Dining: The location of this school is very convenient for me. It is close to hospitals, jobs, stores, etc...

Facilities: The library at this college is excellent, there is plenty of room to study and it is a very warm and welcoming environment.

Transportation: Small Campus=Good Exercise – Because Augustana is such a small campus everything is pretty close so that you can walk or bike to lass without that being a hassle. I would say a good majority of the students choose to walk and or bike to classes, although some may use cars on those chilly, windy days. Buses are unnecessary fr transportation around campus and I have not heard of any that travel around the city. Augustana is in a location where if you really need something you can most certainly walk to a near gas station for food, or catch a ride with a friend which is what most people do.

Athletics: Sports Are a Big Part – Athletics are pretty big here at Augie. Overall, all teams are very competitive at the conference and even national level with many national titles won! I think that school spirit is pretty good for being such a small school but because we are a liberal arts school not everyone is as interested in all events. Our facilities are nice and new facilities are on there way making the next years to look forward to exciting. I think that Athletics are very important at Augie and play a large role in the atmosphere on campus.

Diversity: Quite Diverse – At Augustana admissions and the board does a great job of keeping our population very diverse. We are a Lutheran Liberal arts college, but being of a different religion does not cause any problem what so ever. Augustana does a really good job at accepting and including all people from different religion and backgrounds. I feel that overall for how small of a college we are we have a pretty well diverse population

Scholarships: The financial aid process was confusing. I am here on tuition exchange money, but scholarships at the school were relatively easy to apply for. There were a few scholarships that you had to come to the school and interview for so it made the competition tough. Augustana tries to provide as many scholarships for their students as possible though.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: School Inside Scoop – Augustana has a great faculty that is willing to work with students. All of my professors are willing to sit down and talk with me whenever I need to. The campus is open and green and all of the students are hard working and friendly. There are many study abroad options as well. The academic programs are rigorous, but it is enjoyable and challenging.

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Private School – Augustana is a private school so it is going to be a little more strict on policies. In the some dorms the peer advisors can be a bit strict about certain things like having the opposite sex in your room or hearing alcoholic drinks clinking or things like that.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Nice People – Everyone is extremely friendly. There are more girls than guys here. There is not much diversity but it has been getting better each year!

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Needs a Little Work – The faculty that works in the office is the good part about the financial aid process. They understand that it can be confusing and are more than willing to help. Unfortunatly, the problem is that you need to go to them, and you may not know if anything is wrong. There also seems to be a lack of scholarships that you can apply for, or so it seems since scholarship opportunities are not announced in any way.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The Augie Advantage – The Augie Advantage is exactally what it sounds like, the advantage that you need to get ahead. Augustana should be considered the Harvard of the mid-west. The school offers almost every field of study and promises to challenge in your studies to reach new hights. The professors are always open to helping you understand and are truly interested in your success, helping you to achieve the Augie Advantage.

Off-Campus Dining: A Taste of the Big Apple – Sioux Falls may be a smaller city, but with this restaurant so close you can take a trip to NY in 10 minutes. It is conveniently located in the revamped downtown area and across from the falls. The food is outstanding and they also have a Gluten free menu for all the celiac's out there. The atmosphere and jazz music add a great vibe that brings you back again and again.

Weather: Nothing you can help living in South Dakota but in the winter walking around campus is freezing!

1 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Not because of lack of places to live but because of the difficulties that Augustan poses for people to live off campus.
