4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Our campus has a strong anti-rape policy. There are posters in every girl's bathroom with statistics and numbers to contact. We also occasionally get cards from pregnancy clinics in the area in our mailboxes. The guys I've meet, and also my male friends, are very aware of sex assault and rape and work to prevent it. I'm really impressed by this.

As for drugs, one of my co-workers, two years ahead of me, put it perfectly and simply: "People talk". It's very gossipy of who smokes, snorts, drinks what, and she said that dealers last only a few months, really. Have heard of people getting busted for pot, fined, but not expelled or anything extreme. Just confiscated.

Really, you've gotta be your own judge of what you want to do, what you feel safe with, and for the love of all things holy, be smart. If you do get into drinking and smoking, do so recreationally. No one likes that premature alcoholic you need to babysit at every party.

One thing I dislike is the library closes at midnight, which sucks because it's nice to take the building to upper campus if you live up there instead of having to walk through the forest in the middle of the night. Yeah, the path is lit, but it's still sketchy and it's worse in winter when it's freezing and there might be ice. If it is a far distance, like from a place off-campus, I'd say get someone to walk home with you - guy or girl. Company is good for everyone.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Given the small student body, this sort of thing rarely happens, although cases do arise.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: As ling as you stay with your group you'll be fine. Most assaults occur when female students are in the surrounding neighborhoods on morning jogs.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The rule of thumb is to avoid walking alone at night. This applies mostly to off-campus housing but also to on-campus. Staying with a friend or two at all times is the best way to stay safe.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Campus security tries hard to respond to personal safety issues and campus crime, however they are usually distracted by relatively minor incidents, such as drinking at parties, that don't disturb many people nor have had complaints.
