Computers: The internet is terrible and often goes out around finals time--horrible. Other than that, it's usually not too difficult to find a computer or a printer, plus you usually don't have to pay extra to print.

Athletics: There is a high percentage of students on campus involved in athletics because we are a division 3 competing school. However, there are not a lot of people in attendance at sporting events. We could do a lot better. It's nice that anyone could get involved in athletics if they wish, but the attendance at events is mostly from a select few students and the community.

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on Augustana's campus, but like any area it is important to keep your doors locked for general protection. There is a campus security system that circulates the surrounding area of Augustana's campus to ensure that the perimeter is safe.

Off-Campus Housing: I'm not staying off-campus. but after searching I was very pleased. There is a wide selection and the prices are decent. Just make sure you start looking very early!

Campus Strictness: They are pretty strict when people do get caught drinking underage and with drugs, but most of the time if it's something small, people will get warnings. But if you get caught with alcohol and your under 21, you get kicked out of Augie. They take it very seriously--however, there is still a lot of partying going on campus so it's only when people get caught. I like the strictness but I know many would dislike it.

Off-Campus Dining: With it being in the Quad cities, there is a vast selection of fast food and dining areas. There's a lot too choose from the Golden Corral to Thai Quisine.

Weather: During the fall and summer the campus is beautiful! The only thing that is bad is between winter and summer where the hills get extremely muddy. During the winter, though, the maintenance really work to keep the sidewalks clear.

Scholarships: Augustana is very helpful. I would not be attending this school if it wasn't for the aid they have given me. however, things get lost easily and people forget to call back so you have to stay on top of things.

Computers: The Internet at Augustana is incredibly slow. It is near impossible to get WiFi in the dorms. Most students buy WiFi hubs for their own rooms, which helps with the Internet sometimes. Internet access is best at the library. The labs at Augustana are available in the Library, Olin, and Hanson. Most, if not all, students have their own computer on campus. Printers are used by some but not necessary.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of restaurants around campus that vary in price. Two good places to check out for students visiting are Arthur's and Whitey's. Whitey's give a student discount and a lot of the time we get coupons in the mail for special student discounts at restaurants around the Quad Cities.

Academics: The accounting program is designed for success. The teachers work very closely with the students to make sure that they stay on track and are taking the right classes. Each class is only offered at a certain time so as to make sure the students are learning the right information at the right time. By having classes set up like this, the students begin to familiarize themselves with other students in the major so as to form study groups and learn from one another. The department also works very hard at making students aware of all of the internship opportunities available and stress the importance of having an internship with this field of study.

Diversity: Augustana as a school is amazing. The campus is wonderful and beautiful and eay to navigate. The classes are well placed and the timesfor them also very advantagous. Academically, I've never had a bad class and all of my professors care about whether or not I'm doing well both in their class or others or personally. I love my classes. The divesity on campus is also really great. Granted we so not have a lot of variety ethnically, but I can say that Augustana makes an effort to welcome diveristy and to encourage the students to do so as well. Augustana also does a lot to help their students financially. I come rom a family with one parent able to work andhe makes only 300 a week plus a small commisison each month that ranges from 300$ to 2400$ Anually we make less than Augustana's tuition each year and yet, because I make the grades and they actually cae about me attending, I am able to continue going to shool there. I love Augustana and I wouldn't chage my expeiences there for the world.

Academics: I came to Augustana because of the campus and the high rate for students who were accepted into graduate programs after receiving their undergraduate. Classes on campus are generally intense but completely worth it. Students can find themselves growing both academically and emotionally. The professors are very consistent about reaching out to students and providing answers/help. Classes require work and participation but if you are looking for a real, holistic education, then all the work is worth it.

Guys & Girls: People in general at Augustana are friendly and well-meaning. Both genders are welcoming and interesting. We have a wide range of activities and clubs for all different kinds of people/interests. Some people dress in trendy styles, wear polos, nice pants or dresses and heels (girls obviously) and some show up to class in sweat pants. Its all about what makes you comfortable and no one really cares. Augustana is not a dry campus but there are plenty of opportunities if you desire a variety of culture and people.

Transportation: The bus system is very convenient at Augustana. We have busses that leave the campus to go to surrounding areas and those that leave everyday for Chicago. Carpool is the other great option, especially if you live in the area.

Computers: The computers in general are fine, but the internet is the problem. It is very slow throughout campus, especially the computers in the library. But the wi-fi in certain areas around campus are fine for laptops.

Facilities: My school is small and thus there are many opportunities for many interactions within various groups. My school provides students with an insight on various diversity and many opportunities to be involved on campus and volunteering off-campus. There are many opportunities to start early networking skills through close relationships with the professors and faculty in getting help for internships or in general getting a job or volunteer opportunity in the area of study you are interested in.

Weather: The weather at Augie is not that bad... I really enjoy it and is the same like at my hometown, so I'm used to it and have no complain. The weather may be crazy at times, its been raining a lot lately...but now it's just getting cold, but I love winter weather here, especially the snow.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: One of the first things someone will ask you upon just meeting you is which Greek group you're a part of. So, it's a pretty prevalent part of Augie, and offers many opportunities you can't access as a non-Greek.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: There are always parties on Wednesdays to Saturdays. There are lots of really fun annual parties on some weekends. People can go out to the bars pretty much any time they want.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Not much variety, and you have to drive pretty far to get anywhere.

Weather: I love the weather here. The weather recently has been very nice in which we've had sunny days with temperatures in the 60's to 70's mostly. But once winter rolls around it gets very cold and for a very long time. It also snows quite a bit but the campus does whatever they can to clear the pathways in order for you to get where you need to go. But other than the winter the weather is awesome.

Majors: The Engineering Physics program here at Augustana College is nice in that you can take many courses that may interest you but they can be very difficult. I have had my bumps in the road where I would try very hard to do well but my test grade would not reflect that effort. Plus the workload can be overwhelming at times but doable. But if you manage to keep your head up and trying hard you will succeed in what you desire like I am.

Campus Housing: Depending on the dorm that you choose you can have a great time here. My freshman year I lived in one of the nicer dorms known as Swanson which comes complete with carpeted floors, air conditioning, and your own little convenient store. My sophomore year Erickson Hall was my next dorm. This dorm also offered air conditioning but did not have carpeted floors which isn't a big deal. This dorm neighbors Westerlin Hall which houses many more students than Erickson and does NOT have air conditioning. Many students like Westerlin because there are a lot of students around to talk with. This year I'm currently living in an on-campus house that is old, but nice. I enjoy living here with my three other roommates.

Majors: I haven't had an internship yet but I plan to this coming summer because it is a great way to gain experience in the job world, make connections with other workers, and possibly getting a job afterwards. There are plenty of internships that are available within the quad cities that relate to my engineering major but I would choose them only if I didn't receive a different internship that I'm looking into.
