1 College Freshman

Transportation: Good luck walking everywhere. Especially when it rains.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: If you're not 19, then you can't get into a bar. So you have to go to Frat houses.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There's a reason why everyone goes home so often. There's only one mall, and it's "where clothes go to die" so very picked over and nothing really good. We don't even have a Macy's. And the "stores" are more like clearance bins. Boutique shops are better, but pricey. Everyone buys online. And if you're from out of state, make friends with someone with a car because the transit doesn't run on the weekends.

Weather: August to November is hot, then December is bitterly cold. And up until March, it stays cold. So get used to wacky Alabama weather

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Alcohol is probably the most prevalent but it's college, so we're all kind of used to it.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: We have literally the best Student Athletic Center ever. The Rec center is brand new and everyone goes there. It's better than any other gym I've ever been to.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: It depends on what you're looking for. If you want to spend the money, then you can get a really nice place that's close to campus. And parking off campus is better than parking on campus.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: I would definitely bring a car or make friends with people who have cars. It's harder to go to parties or outside of auburn if you don't have a car.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is fun when you have friends who live on campus as well. Even though the newer dorms are expensive try to get into South Donahue or The Village, these are the better dorms plus you get your own room. Roommates are okay until you get into a small confrontation. Try to avoid getting into arguments over stupid things and find someone you know for sure you would actually like having as a roommate.

3 College Freshman

Computers: I have my own laptop and printer so I've never had to use the school's tools.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Parties are fun but sometimes they are over-hyped. Being 18 you can't go to bars so unless you're going to the club or a house party not much else to do.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Not a lot to do on the weekends when it's not football season and if you're from somewhere that you can't drive to in 5hrs or less.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: School is very diverse but you can almost always tell who hangs out with who.

Off-Campus Dining: If you don't want anything on campus you can walk downtown or take a transit to go get food.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus, especially at night.

Off-Campus Housing: Don't really know much about off-campus housing but the prices vary depending on how far from campus you stay. There's always a transit bus stop near by so no worries about getting to campus, if you don't have a car. And another pro to living off-campus is you make friends faster and easier.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Make sure you have a good gpa. No important criteria for admission, just make sure to get your transcripts in on time.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm not in the nursing program yet. I'm only a freshmen. Career goals? Chief of Nursing staff and work in a children's hospital and putting a smile on someone else's face.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Not much else to say.

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is great but there are some days that are really dull. Those dull days make you want to just lay in bed and watch movies all day.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Auburn has a lot of different options for nightlife.

Greek Life: The Greek life is great if you are into that social scene, but they include non greeks in their activities.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Overall, students are very happy to be in Auburn. They love the people around them and the experiences that they get to have.

College is what you make of it. If you sit at home and don't do anything, then you won't enjoy yourself no matter where you go. With all the options you have offered to you at Auburn, you have to try to not have a good time. And with a student body that is so happy to be here, it's also hard not to get swept up in the excitement. As always, it's a good idea to visit a college or university before making a final decision. Make sure you're as happy and comfortable as you can possibly be.
