Drug Safety: Every Night Is Party Night – The biggest drug problem Auburn has is alcohol. It's everywhere. Football season is crazy because every drinks at tailgates, then sneaks drinks into the game, then goes and celebrates a win with a drink, or mourns a loss with a drink. Fraternities have big parties with alcohol everywhere, not to mention the fact that everyone "pregames" before the party so they're already drunk when they get there. There's plenty of bars to go to and every night is party night for a lot of people. There isn't so much a problem with people pressuring you to drink, as far as I can tell, but alcohol is highly present at any time of the day or week.

Local Atmosphere: Find Your Fun – Auburn is fun but a lot of that fun comes from discovering new things to do. The best times I've had in Auburn are when my friends and I are discovering new places and doing new things. For example, we like to navigate through the underground tunnels and have bonfires out at the old fire tower. Not exactly the main attractions fo the town, but it's the things you discover that you find the most enjoyment in.

Overall Experience: Love It – I love it here at Auburn, am glad that I chose to come. It's a small town college with a big town feel. Also it really is a "family". People are helpful and friendly. Most of downtown Auburn is in walking distance, and the rest is only a mile or two away. You do have to really study to make good grades; if you let your social life get out of control, then your grades will plummet: it's all about balance.

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments run between 650 (if you're lucky) and 1000. Granted, some of those are shared by up to four people, but they're still expensive, when you consider adding in utilities. But, there are many options, and most are close to campus, some within walking distance. Also, a few will allow pets, though most will not.

Health & Safety: Completly Secure – I feel very safe on campus. There are security stations that will put you directly in touch with 911 and let them know your location on campus. There is a campus security shuttle that runs from 6pm-7am. The campus is well lit at night. If you live off campus and don't have a car, there are a few transits that run at night, and probably 30 during the day. The only downside is that don't run at all on the weekends.

Scholarships: Auburn gives out a lot of money for scholarships through sponsored scholarships as well as guaranteed merit scholarships. I am currently a Presidential Scholar here at the university and am on a full-ride scholarship that comes with stipends every semester as well other amenities. My scholarship money and bills all showed up paid for weeks before school started, and my refund check even arrived at the bank weeks prior to starting school. My experience with financial aid here at Auburn University has been amazing.

Overall Experience: Auburn University is home to some of the nicest, most caring, and by far the most family oriented group of students and faculty I have ever had the chance to meet. No matter what the day or situation someone will always smile in passing, say hi, stop to help you pick your books up off the floor if you fall, inform you about the latest events on campus, or even just be there to hold a random conversation about how you are doing today or how was your weekend. Having such a home-like atmosphere definitely makes the transition to college easier and allows each student to feel as though he or she has a niche where he or she belongs at Auburn even among thousands of other students.

Parking: THE AUBURN POLICE DEPARTMENT BOTH ON AND OFF CAMPUS ARE CRAZY ABOUT GIVING TICKETS!! If you park in the wrong zone/spot even for 30 seconds during restricted hours your car will either have a ticket on the windshield, a boot on the tire, or be the newest member of the Auburn Impound Lot. Likewise, if you run a yellow light, cut off pedestrians, or speed at any rate, you will have a ticket faster than you can blink. Moral of this story: Do exactly as you are supposed to do when driving.

Scholarships: Take the ACT early in high school and work on getting a good score.

Overall Experience: College Experience – My experience at Auburn has been awesome. Its a laid back college that stills demands your best. I wouldnt choose another college.

Diversity: There is good diversity on the campus of Auburn University. The male to female ratio is close to 1:1. Religion diversity is high and is the economical background. But the political beliefs are not very diverse, there are not many democrats.

Guys & Girls: People Dress Comfortably – The girls at Auburn are very attractive, but they dress in sweats and comfortable clothes most of the time and do not try to show off their looks.

Campus Housing: The Village Is the Best – The dorms in the Hill are the oldest and the ones in the Quad aren't much better. The Village halls are only a few years older and have an apartment style to them which is nice.

Weather: Alabama Heat – It's the south so it definitely does get a little bit hotter than other places. It stays hot for a while and may not feel like fall weather until mid November or so.

Transportation: Riding Tiger Transit – The transportation is convenient. It's paid for i your tuition. It brings and takes students from all over to and from the campus. Buses come to set stops every 10-15 min. so it's very convenient throughout the day.

Off-Campus Housing: Living on Your Own – Off campus housing has both its pros and cons. Although it isn't convenient as living on campus it's still close by and the prices are reasonable depending on where you go. For all parking there must be a parking pass. The area is pretty safe but you always want to be mindful of possibilities.Off campus housing is located close to the campus so it's easy to find.

Drug Safety: I don't know that many people that do drugs, but to get alcohol is pretty easy.

Guys & Girls: Girls and Guys – There are a lot of pretty people at Auburn. Most people are healthy and attractive. Everyone pretty much looks the same though. A lot of frat boys and sorority girls.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Campus Living – If you don't apply early, then you most likely wont live on campus.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Science Center – As an intented Marine Biologist major. Auburn science center is state of art. Professors want to help you suceed.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Plenty to choose from, prices are good. Safety and parking are good as well.

Athletics: WAR EAGLE! Everyone knows the south is big for its sports and football, but you won't find love for your school anywhere like you will at Auburn. Auburn has the strongest school spirit around. Everyone is part of a family and feels it so deeply it will bring you to tears at the football games. The traditions are amazing and the Auburn pride is so strong it can overcome any loss.

Campus Housing: Dorms? Ha. That'd Be a Nice Option. There is hardly any space for students to live on campus. Between the Quad, the Village, and the Hill, there's only room for a few thousand students. The entire freshmen class won't fit on campus. That's right: freshmen aren't guaranteed housing. I love Auburn, but I'll be honest, I've never heard of another school say that to freshmen. Many are forced to get off campus dorms or apartments. There are THOUSANDS of apartments and student housing around town because most students don't live on campus. If you're Greek, you most likely have a frat house or hall in the Village you can stay at sophomore year or above. If you're not, however, you have to come up with your own housing. Living off campus isn't terrible though, I actually really like it. It's hard sometimes, but you get a better room that comes furnished for a MUCH cheaper price than if you were paying the outrageous cost of room and board. It sounds tough but in the end, living off campus is worth it and is a better choice! If you have your heart set on living on campus at your college, either act fast to ensure a spot or find a place that guarantees freshmen housing.

Local Atmosphere: Cute College Town! There's a lot to do around Auburn - there's plenty of boutiques for shopping and places to eat. You can find any kind of food within walking distance or a short drive. You have to travel a bit to get to big time shopping like department stores, but for students the area is great. If you go out looking for something to do, you'll find it because there's ALWAYS something!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – Besides the typical robbery that you will at every college, Auburn is pretty safe and feel comfortable walking around campus at night and day.

Overall, students are very happy to be in Auburn. They love the people around them and the experiences that they get to have.

College is what you make of it. If you sit at home and don't do anything, then you won't enjoy yourself no matter where you go. With all the options you have offered to you at Auburn, you have to try to not have a good time. And with a student body that is so happy to be here, it's also hard not to get swept up in the excitement. As always, it's a good idea to visit a college or university before making a final decision. Make sure you're as happy and comfortable as you can possibly be.
