Health & Safety: Safe and Snug – Campus security is pretty tight here. Nothing serious ever happens for real but when it does they be there to help. I feel safe enough to walk around campus late at night because I know that no one will bother me. Its a small, beautiful safe place where anybody can enjoy themselves without worrying about getting jumped or robbed or anything like that.

1 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It is easy to get a loan, but grants and scholarships are hard to come by

1 College Sophomore

Weather: It rains alot in the summer so walking to classes can be a burden.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are several places to live near the campus. Being on the newer part of town they are costly though.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: AUM is an excellent school for furthering one's education. It has many excellent programs, including it's outstanding Nursing School. However, it's not the friendliest campus. Instead of seeing groups of friends walking together to and from classes, often people are walking by themselves talking or texting on the cell phone.

3 College Senior

Weather: Better Come Dressed Accordingly, Because You're Gonna Walk a Mile – Getting from the parking lot to your class takes anywhere from 5-12 minutes. Usually just walking from your car to class and back to your car involves trekking about 2 miles or more. So, if it's hot outside, your going to end up breaking out into a full sweat by the time you get to class. If it's raining, you better have that umbrella or else you're showing up wet to class.

3 College Senior

Diversity: Being as it is Montgomery, the Black population highly outnumbers the white population in the city, as well as on AUM's campus. Being a white female, I am actually a minority at the school. However, troubles never seem to arise racially at AUM. We all get along for the most part and are accepting of whatever skin color you are.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: There are no sorority houses here and there are only 4 sororities that I know of. Greek life does not dominate the social scene here

Off-Campus Housing: Living Off Campus – Montgomery is not a college town so renting is sometimes a challenge. Landlord's in Montgomery are expecting to rent houses to families and are not used to renting to students. But, there are some really nice houses in Montgomery that are reasonable to rent if you have roomates!

Academics: Registration Process – AUM's clinical psychology department lost my application and took over 2 months to inform me on my acceptance even though it was only supposed to take 3 weeks. Let's hope my experience with the school gets better!

Transportation: The only real way that you can get around is by walking. You can drive your car to school but there is no other way to get around the campus but by on foot (or if you bring your skateboard, bike, etc). There is a city bus that can bring you to and from campus and wherever else is on its route.

4 College Junior

Parking: We have two different areas that you can park. There are always plenty of places to park and all of them are free. The only spots you can't park in are the ones that are red for teachers. It takes about 5 to ten minutes to walk to class from your car, depending on where you park. If you don't park in an actual parking spot, don't have the parking thing in your window or park in handicap or teachers you will get fined. It is nice to have the free parking though.

Academics: Graphic Design Major – I do not live on campus, I live at home, and the drive is only about ten minutes. The school is conveniently located about five minutes from a strip mall which makes a great handout for students who want to see friends or study at Starbucks. All the teachers in the Graphic Design department care very much about the success of the students. They will work with you, help you with anything you are not sure to do as well as critique your work and help you do better the next time. Teachers also work diligently to help students gain internships that will help them to further their carrier. I have been able to get two internships in Graphic Design so far. The workload is about average, we have 2 hour classes and almost all the assignments we are able to accomplish in the classroom.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: VERY STRICT PLACE – The police can be very strict when it comes to certain places. The housing people are strict also, but I guess they mean well.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Campus life is good to a certain degree! Once you get to a certain level Campus life starts to be a bummer! I am moving off Campus.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: There is round the clock Security, and I feel safe on campus. They have safety stages, which are little poles that have HELP AND INFO buttons on them for people in need. All in all I feel safe and secure.

Local Atmosphere: Montgomery's a Different Place to Live – The city of Montgomery has a wide selection of bland tasting fast-food restaurants. The all you can eat buffet bars serve an array of luke warm dishes unless they have a chef who cooks things like steaks right before your eyes. The fine dining restaurants are overpriced for the exquisite dishes that do not compare in taste to the Burger King Whopper. A student in Montgomery must get used to eating Ramen noodle soups because on a student budget that is about all they can afford and probably is the best choice in terms of taste for the money. The irony of it all is the fact that Montgomery ranks among the top ten cities in America with the obesity rate. How people can become overweight by eating bland tasting food is a mystery that might never be solved. In conclusion, if a student is looking for something good to eat that has taste and doesn't cost a lot of money, they should browse their local snack machine

Facilities: AUM Campus – The campus is very convenient for me because the classes are so close to each other and the library isnt far from the classrooms either. The dorms are nice and they provide enough space for me.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It'S So Easy a Caveman Can Do It – Personally, I do not receive financial aid, but most of my friends do. I have been with them when they were setting everything up and AUM seemed very knowledgeable about their personal situations and willing to help. Since there is tons of students that do this you might want to make an appointment prior to your visit.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Historical Local Restaurants – Whatever food your craving Montgomery offers it. From local "hole in the wall" restaurants that have been recognized nationally for their one of a kind cuisine to the everyday names, you are sure to have a great meal. Hamburger King and Chris's Hotdogs remain the river-regions favorites.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: AUM Computer Labs – At AUM there is a computer lab at every corner, some more nice than others. The main lab is predominately Macs, however, they have the second option of running the Windows program. The School gives you a fifty dollar credit each semester which makes printing a breeze. There is only one down side to these labs. On certain occasions they are way to loud to concentrate on your work. This is why I think it is crucial to bring your own computer and do your school/studying somewhere else.

1 College Sophomore

Athletics: We have a very good tennis team, number 2 in the nation, they won 7 times the national championship. The other sports are not bad, but it's not that great. Not a lot of people are coming to watch the games. The gym is just a joke. I have never seen in my life a gym smaller than this.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Punishment? Yea Ok – I have honestly never heard of any kind of punishment other than academic probation, and that is serious stuff. I think the only other thing is no food in the computer lab. OHHHH and Parking ughhh the campus police are very strict about parking.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Pretty Much a Mixture – There are alot of different races, looks, and personalities. I guess that there is someone for everyone here.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: We're a Mix! There are a ton of different ethnicities on campus. You can see basically any race and any sexual orientation. No one really seems to notice everyone seems very comfortable here.
