Health & Safety: There is round the clock Security, and I feel safe on campus. They have safety stages, which are little poles that have HELP AND INFO buttons on them for people in need. All in all I feel safe and secure.

Local Atmosphere: Montgomery's a Different Place to Live – The city of Montgomery has a wide selection of bland tasting fast-food restaurants. The all you can eat buffet bars serve an array of luke warm dishes unless they have a chef who cooks things like steaks right before your eyes. The fine dining restaurants are overpriced for the exquisite dishes that do not compare in taste to the Burger King Whopper. A student in Montgomery must get used to eating Ramen noodle soups because on a student budget that is about all they can afford and probably is the best choice in terms of taste for the money. The irony of it all is the fact that Montgomery ranks among the top ten cities in America with the obesity rate. How people can become overweight by eating bland tasting food is a mystery that might never be solved. In conclusion, if a student is looking for something good to eat that has taste and doesn't cost a lot of money, they should browse their local snack machine

Facilities: AUM Campus – The campus is very convenient for me because the classes are so close to each other and the library isnt far from the classrooms either. The dorms are nice and they provide enough space for me.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It'S So Easy a Caveman Can Do It – Personally, I do not receive financial aid, but most of my friends do. I have been with them when they were setting everything up and AUM seemed very knowledgeable about their personal situations and willing to help. Since there is tons of students that do this you might want to make an appointment prior to your visit.

Off-Campus Dining: Historical Local Restaurants – Whatever food your craving Montgomery offers it. From local "hole in the wall" restaurants that have been recognized nationally for their one of a kind cuisine to the everyday names, you are sure to have a great meal. Hamburger King and Chris's Hotdogs remain the river-regions favorites.

Computers: AUM Computer Labs – At AUM there is a computer lab at every corner, some more nice than others. The main lab is predominately Macs, however, they have the second option of running the Windows program. The School gives you a fifty dollar credit each semester which makes printing a breeze. There is only one down side to these labs. On certain occasions they are way to loud to concentrate on your work. This is why I think it is crucial to bring your own computer and do your school/studying somewhere else.

Athletics: We have a very good tennis team, number 2 in the nation, they won 7 times the national championship. The other sports are not bad, but it's not that great. Not a lot of people are coming to watch the games. The gym is just a joke. I have never seen in my life a gym smaller than this.

Campus Strictness: Punishment? Yea Ok – I have honestly never heard of any kind of punishment other than academic probation, and that is serious stuff. I think the only other thing is no food in the computer lab. OHHHH and Parking ughhh the campus police are very strict about parking.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Pretty Much a Mixture – There are alot of different races, looks, and personalities. I guess that there is someone for everyone here.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: We're a Mix! There are a ton of different ethnicities on campus. You can see basically any race and any sexual orientation. No one really seems to notice everyone seems very comfortable here.

1 College Freshman

Nightlife: The only nightlife I know of on campus is evening classes.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Dorms Are Pretty Nice – I personally do not live on campus; however, I have been inside the dorms and they are very very nice. North commons is the newest and nicest. Try to get in there if you wish to live on campus.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Key Points – The professors at AUM are amazing they are always willing to help if students are willing to try. The admissions office is wonderful they work especially hard to recruit young new faces to AUM. The workload is much like that of other schools; however, one must study. Most profs are crazzyyyyy about group projects so participate and do them!!!!

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: AUM Is the BEST – If you are serious about your education and getting a degree then AUM is the place for you. There are alot of activities and clubs; however, the main focus is where it should be and that is on the actual classes. The professors are amazingly helpful and most will work with students in difficult situations. ALso a great school for adults with children because there is an affordable on-campus daycare.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: There are a few Auburn Montgomery shuttles and the Montgomery Area Transit Buses make stops at school. The shuttles are most likely the best option because of saftey and convenience.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a few apartment complexes in the area but mostly large homes surround AUM.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Unique Features – I am not sure about other schools, but the faculty at Auburn Montgomery is great! The teachers and staff are extremely nice and helpful and seem to genuinely care about each student. Great hospitality is a feature that always sets something apart in a positive way.

Another great feature at Auburn Montgomery is the many tutoring and counseling opportunities they provide.

5 College Freshman

Weather: AUM Alert – The weather in Alabama rarely gets bad, and when we will be having bad/severe weather, AUM Alert notifies us by sending everyone prescribed a text message, and also sends an email to every student. Very helpful and useful.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Filing for any loans or FASFA or any other outside source is very simple and the aids enjoy helping. Problem is it takes too long to be notified about an award or takes longer to have an award received. Plus there aren't enough academic scholarships at Aum

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Is Exactly What It Stands for Aumazing – Aum has very few downs to it. The teachers and students love to be social and very friendly and will easily work with you if there are any problems to assess. I learned alot here that I didn't expect to learn in an average semester of college.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms at Aum have decenet policies and the spacing and cleaness of the dorms is above average, but if you are receiving outide sources to pay for your housing and you file in time before the semester begins and you don't receive the award for awhile they just kick you out regardless if you have for example a FASFA with enough money on its way.

Academics: Being a Communications Major – Being a Communications major at AUM has it's pros and cons. The pros include the fact that after you've taken certain communications classes, you are familiar with all of the departmental staff. The department is really close knit and about 10 professors total teach classes necessary for this major. It helps to be familiar with your professors in order to feel comfortable enough to be able to talk to them about any questions or concerns you may have. Another pro is that a lot of times, what you're learning in one class can overlap with what's being taught in another. This allows for easy retention. The only con with being a communications major is the lack of clubs. Certain majors such as business, psychology, and economics have their own clubs which center around things of interest to the students. Communications doesn't have this for their students. However, being a communications major is great and the pros outweigh the cons.

Computers: Auburn University at Montgomery has a wide array of computer labs available for use. There is a huge computer lab in the student center with almost 50 Dell and Apple computers inside. In addition, the library has ample computers on each of it's 10 floors. Also, the education department and the business department have computer labs available for students, regardless of their major. Printing at certain places on campus is free, and in some buildings, such as the student center, it's 10 cents a page which is deducted from a student's account. (This account is strictly for printing use, which is a part of student activities fees paid at the beginning of the year by each student) So, no matter if it's time for final examinations or not, you can find a computer at AUM for your personal use. (You just have to look around)

1 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: very boring, there are little parties on the weekend but nothing big. and there is nowhere to go if you are under 21. the people are nice but its really boring.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: theres alot of different races on campus. the new diversity guy came in and acted like he was going to fix something that wasnt broken. apparently there wasnt enough diversity. i think if there was a need for more we would do it ourselves. from what i do we do just fine without that dummy telling us what to do and how we should act towards other people, when all he does really is try to make the african americans look better and caancel out everyone else.
