College Junior

Transportation: No transportation in the area.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I live at home with my parents which is only 15 minutes away. We have more people that commute than live in the area.

3 College Junior

Diversity: I have met many people of different religions and ethnicity, and I love that our school is diverse rather than homogeneous.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Never had to deal with it but I hear it is wonderful

4 College Junior

Weather: I have enjoyed attending Athens State very much!

4 Recent Alumnus

Local Atmosphere: Great small town atmosphere, but close to Huntsville with 3 malls to shop and great selection for dining.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: had a small issue with financial aid (one of my own making) but the financial aid office was great in helping me straightening it out.

2 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: no Greek live on campus.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: Very strict on honor code and serious offenses are disciplined pretty harshly.

3 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Dining: you typical chain options with some local small diners also.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: do not live on campus and have not been in any of the housing, but hear they are not bad

1 Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: no real night life in Athens. You would have to travel to Huntsville or Florence for any real nightlife.

3 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: not sure of off campus situations. I know there are some on campus housing, but not sure any help is needed for off campus living.

5 Recent Alumnus

Drug Safety: This is a 2 year finishing college and most of the students here are more mature and older. Drugs are not an issue at Athens State.

2 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: There is no real sports activities on campus. There is some intramural activities, mostly Frisbee golf.

3 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: Athens State has a very easy going atmosphere and some great instructors. The campus is small, well laid out and easy to get around.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: It's great, I don't notice much of it

Campus Strictness: Well currently I do not live on campus of the school I attend. I have been to the main campus a few times and they seem to have everything in order. The school currently does not have living arrangements for students (such as dorms). When I do visit the campus it seems to be in great order I have observed and seen that the campus security does drive around the campus to make sure that the students are safe and that there are no problems in need to handle.

Scholarships: I have had financial aid at the school I am currently enrolled in. At the moment I have no financial aid and I am currently having to pay for my own classes. That is why I am trying to get a scholarship to be able to help me pay for my school. I do have a job, but it is not enough to even help pay for my school. I have other responsibilities I have as well to pay for.

Transportation: I am currently enrolled at Athens State University,AL. There is a location that is somewhat closer to my home now. I travel in my own car about 25-30 miles a few times a week. It is very convenient to travel to the closer location than it is to travel to the school itself. I am about an hour and half away from the main campus. I feel that it helps to save money, gas and time to travel to the off campus site than it would be to travel to the main campus.

Majors: I do plan to intern in my plan of study. My major is in Elementary/Collaborative Education K-6. Which basically is that I am double majoring. I am majoring in Elementary and Special Education. At the end of my my program is when I plan to intern I plan on it in the Spring of 2016. I am not concerned with finding an internship. In my my major we have what you call Field Experience each semester. This experience is similar to our intern but mainly gets us prepared for it.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I am very excited about the program that I am in. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I have not changed my mind since day one. M career goals are first to become a teacher. I hope to start out in the Special Education program, then when the good Lord calls me away from that program I plan on teaching any grade in elementary. Whichever grade I am needed at.When it comes to finding a job in the field that I am going into I am not concerned at all. I feel that if God has called me into this field for a reason and that is to teach, I feel that He will provide me with a teaching job where He wants me to go I will go where He sends me!

4 College Junior

Academics: There are many majors to choose from.

1 College Junior

Nightlife: This is not a college town.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Small town, not much around.
