Local Atmosphere: There is not much to do off-campus. You have to be 21 or older in order to go to the bars. There are a few clubs that aren't that bad and other colleges are nearby too.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Often cold. It snows or rains a lot, but classes do not usually get cancelled.

Computers: There are computers pretty much all over campus and they are all new macs and super nice. They're starting to provide more printers in different areas of the campus and I've had some issues with a few of them. But the campus is not too big so that if one printer is giving you problems you walk a minute to the next one. I have never had an issue finding an available computer on campus, even during exam week.

Academics: I have had some great experiences with professors so far, especially with my adviser. Except for my bible class, which was totally new to me (not having opened a bible once), I enjoyed all of my professors, felt like I actually got my moneys worth, and the classes weren't ridiculously hard.
However, I have heard a lot of complaints from people about certain linkage programs and some of their classes. Some teachers are not available, seem to be a waste of time to show up to class and you cannot wait to just get the credit. But sometimes there's professors like that everywhere so I'm not letting it effect the grade I gave.

Diversity: The school is small so it makes sense that there is not a ton of diversity. The majority of students come from New England, including myself, and of that majority, 80% of them come from Mass. Even with this majority, there are still large organizations on campus and clubs that get together with other colleges in the area. There may not be a ton of diversity, but there's a niche for any individual that's looking for one.

Transportation: There are buses on the weekends that go to movie theaters and close shopping malls but no buses that take you into the city. If you want something in the city, you need to find a friend with a car or take a taxi. Freshmen aren't allowed to have a car on campus freshmen year, which is typical but really frustrating if you ever have to go off campus to get medicine, cleaning supplies, bath supplies etc. For the last month of my freshmen year I sneaked my car on campus in the overflow parking lot and never had any issues or tickets but the tickets can get super pricey. On the weekends for late night there is "Safe Ride" which has the ride back to Assumption a flat $5 rate no matter where you are in Worcester, which is definitely nice especially for keeping drunk drivers off the road. But other than that, a car is definitely necessary.

Computers: My favorite thing about the computers on campus is that printing is free! All you have to do is swipe your card on a little screen, select what you need to print (it is touch screen) and you're documents are ready for you in seconds. The only thing that I don't enjoy is that IT only prints single-sided, so if you need to print something double-sided or just have to save paper, you can only go to the library. Also, getting connected to wifi is a pain unless you have an ethernet cable (this applies to people who have Dell computers). Overall, the computers are efficient on Assumption's campus.

Guys & Girls: While every student is involved in his or her own interests and students, the student body overall is very friendly and I always see people waving, smiling, or saying hello to each other. It is also very easy to make friends on campus because everyone I've been exposed to in the dorms are very outgoing and engaging.

Facilities: There is plenty to do on Assumption's campus! Lots of activities every weekend. The only complaint I have is there isn't a group for sober kids who just want to hang out.

Weather: Worcester weather is crazy. Lots of rain, snow, and sun. You never get the weather you were hoping for, but it makes each day an adventure.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I usually don't eat off campus or leave campus because it's so expensive. Worcester has a lot to offer, but first years cannot have cars and for me that was a reason to stay on campus a lot.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: We have a very effective points system at my school where if you drink and get caught you get points that eventually can add up to expulsion.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I took a really nice RAD (rape aggression defense) class sponsored by campus police. I always see officers out and making sure things are going smoothly. People usually don't steal your things, but I also lived in honors housing. I was a little upset by all the underage drinking and how campus police never seemed to notice a lot of it.

Off-Campus Dining: Worcester is full of great dining finds! If you want to eat healthy, check out EVO, if you are vegan, check out the Loving Hut, if you want a italian food, check out Ciao Bella! The options are endless, and there is pretty much a restaurant to meet any food craving. There are also lots of student discounts offered at these places.

Transportation: Assumption is good about public transportation. We have this contract with the yellow cabs in the city of Worcester that any time after 10pm, a cab ride to Assumption is only 5 dollars. This is known as "safe ride" and works to help reduce the cases of drunk driving. We also have WOO bus schedules posted every where that take you to almost any local shopping center.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Assumption does offer a lot of financial aid, however I found that each year you lost more and more aid and the price of the school consequently increased. You definitely need to keep copies of all your financial aid letters together so you can compare them year to year. Also do not be afraid to call and fight for more aid, because there always seems to be a little bit more money if you are willing to work for it.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: They have shuttles for the weekends that go to the same places: one mall and a few schools, but the schedules are not very accessible.

4 College Freshman

Computers: We have a lot of computer labs, which are very accessible and aren't usually crowded.

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Campus police are pretty strict they give out alot of parking and speeding tickets.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: It is an open campus to the public which can be a risk

3 College Freshman

Diversity: There is diversity but I feel the college could be more excepting

Weather: The summers and springs are fine, but fall and winter are bad. We get a lot of snow in Worcester, and tons of wind. It rains/snows a lot and generally can keep students holed up in their dorms, but you can get used to the weather.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I came to Assumption looking for a good classics program (Latin and Ancient Greek languages) as well as education. The professor I've had for the two languages is very understanding and a great teacher. I've done a wide variety of work for my classes, including class translations and take home work. The professors are nice, and some will even make the class feel more open and relaxed while still providing good instructions.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Worcester is a large city. While the campus itself is nice, and is located in a quiet part of the city, much of Worcester is full of crowds and shady people. There are many places to go, such as the Art Museum and the other campuses, but Worcester isn't a very attractive place.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: There is a wide variety of both team and recreational sports. The teams have runs that are too early in the morning, but other than that, they are open, challenging and competitive.
