Nightlife: Great Student Activities Offered on the Weekends – I may sound like a loser, but I enjoy all the activities that Assumption puts on every Friday and Saturday night. While the 21 year olds hit the popular Worcester bars, the rest of campus can go to the student center to see a comedian or participate in a gameshow and every Friday night the school operates its own "club" where there is a dj and blacklights. Students definitely have their own parties in their rooms, but I guess I think that the school does a great job at making sure that students are never at a loss for what to do on a weekend night. Some people hit the clubs on thursday nights, but they are never worth the trouble of getting yourself there.

Weather: I am a natural born New Englander so I enjoy snow and leaves and rain in the springtime. Assumption receives lots of snow and typical spring and fall weather. The school is very good about removing the snow and making the campus safe. The grounds always look beautiful and school is cancelled when it is appropriate. No complaints!!!

Transportation: You Have to Rely on Taxis More Than You Want to – Assumption College is part of a consortium so it has a shuttle that transports students to all of the colleges in the consortium on weekdays. That is convenient for students in that situation. However, in terms of going off campus to the mall or grocery store, students are only offered to ride the "Woobus" on Friday and Saturday nights. The "Woobus" is not reliable and it is an actual school bus so it is pretty lame. If you want to go to the club or out to dinner you are most likely going to end up splitting an expensive cab with your friends. They do have UShare car on campus but it is too expensive. The only method of transportation that I really appreciate at Assumption is the 5 dollar cab rides that are offered on Friday and Saturday nights. Basically the rule is that the school does not want anyone driving drunk or getting in the car with a stranger because they are trying to be frugal. So on those nights, not matter where you are in worcester, you can call a cab and get back to school for 5 dollars. You don't have to be drunk or in danger to use it, and the cab drivers are on board with the deal so it is easy to just get in a cab and say what you want.

Computers: Assumption College has several places where students can gain access to computers and printers. Printing on campus is free and unlimited so that is a great perk when a class expects you to print dozens of slides or if you just want to spare your own printer every now and again. WiFi exists all over campus but it can be a little spotty. I have very little trouble with my Mac but I know that those with Dells tend to rely on their ethernet cable oftentimes.

Health & Safety: Extremely Safe – Although this school is located in a city that doesn't have the best of reputations, Assumption is a very safe school. I have never felt threatened by fellow students or visitors to the campus. The campus police are all over so you always have someone to turn to if you need help. I feel completely comfortable leaving my computer on a desk in the library while I search for books or step outside to make a phone call. I do lock my door at night, but that is just because I don't want friends to feel free to come in whenever they want. Assumption College is truly a safe place to be.

Overall Experience: Assumption College was my dream school from the very beginning. Everyone was so welcome and respectful. People are always willing to help you at a drop of a hat. We always have activities going on everyday so that people can get involved around the community! It's an all around amazing school and I wouldn't dream of transferring to a different school!

Scholarships: Decent System – Everyone is very welcoming at the financial aid office. They give you plenty of time and notice so that you get your papers in on time. My only complaint is that I've had to make multiple trips back and forth to the financial aid office because they have told me I had everything in, and then a day later sent me an email saying that another paper was missing.

Health & Safety: Usually Safe – Assumption College is a very safe college. There is a sense of security that I didn't get from any of the other schools I have visited in the past which is one of the main reasons as to why I am enrolled in the school. My only concern is the weekend drinking that sometimes gets out of hand. For the most part, myself and many other students feel completely safe.

Athletics: Even if you are not on a sports team, which most people are, you still have the opportunity to participate in intramural sports. They are very popular and competitive on campus, and you and your team recieve prizes for winning.

Academics: The academics at Assumption College are very challenging and you really have to strive to succeed in your classes.

4 College Junior

Computers: There is always an available computer to use on campus, with free printing! The internet is also very fast.

Academics: It is difficult being an English major because although you only have 10 required courses for the major, 5 of them must be at a 300-400 level, which is very challenging. The English professors are also very critical about your writing and really strive to make you a better writer.

Transportation: Buses Are Great If You Need Them – The public transportation is usually pretty reliable for the Consortium schools in Worcester. Most of the times, the buses arrive on time, and they take you to all the different colleges, as well as nearby malls and shopping outlets. It's great for underclassmen who don't have cars, but the transportation system does have its drawbacks. Sometimes the bus drivers are not always clear about their bus schedule, and will tell students that the bus will arrive at a certain time, when in all actuality they are wrong. Students can easily be waiting outside at the bus stop for an hour wondering how they are going to get back to campus. Other than that, the transportation does really help get students off campus to see different scenery.

Nightlife: Nightlife around Worcester is definitely a great experience, especially if you are coming from a small town with no city life. However, going to school in Worcester, like any other city, really appeals to people who are 21 and over because most of the clubs are not accessible to 18+ after a certain hour. This drawback causes a lot of underclassmen to search for parties elsewhere, either off campus or on campus. Assumption College Campus police have hawk eyes from Thursday to Saturday night, making it impossible to even go to a party just to socialize. Many Freshmen, and sophomores end up going off campus to WPI to find a party and to meet new people.

Guys & Girls: People on Campus – The assumption campus is more boys than girls but does not really feel that way. Most guys are atheletes. Because we are private school i find that a lot of students have a lot of money. sometimes the school can feel snobby or cliquey but there is a place for everybody to fit in somewhere.

Academics: Professors at assumption seem to be either a hit or a miss. I have had awesome ones that teach me a lot and I have had ones not so great. My english comp. teacher specifically did not teach anything about composition and she did not help me to learn anything new. It is kind of frustrating when you spend so much money for a class and get nothing out of it. But I have also had very awesome professors as well.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I have no problems with the nightlife on campus. There are some nights where nothing is happening but you can find that at any campus. Sometimes police are a little tight but they are doing their job. I find it easy enough to have a good time on the weekends on and off campus.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The housing lottery at Assumption can be disappointing. I wouldn't get your hopes up. I have never gotten the room I want but I do get the next best thing. On the bright side housing is guarenteed all 4 years at Assumption. The space and size are great and reasonable.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Being the accounting major so far has been fine. I am only in my second year of the major so I do not have quite the experience as older students. I have however had issues with acedimic advisors. My first advisor was not in the business department therefore could not really direct me in the direction i needed to go. Once i switched to an accounting advisor it was then told that there were things i should have previously done but i was unaware. It would have been a lot easier to have been originally assigned a business/accounting advisor.

4 College Junior

Computers: There are a lot of computer labs located in many building of Assumption. I have never had to wait to use a computer before. The internet while using my personal computer can be frustrating though. The internet can be really slow or not even work at all.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Assumption has the perfect amount of strictness. They make sure that you are not doing anything illegal or out of line but they still leave room for fun. I believe they keep us in line but are not overly commanding. I have no issues with it. The people who deserve to get in trouble generally do and those who are better behaved are understood.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Extremely Safe – Assumption makes me feel so safe. There is only one entrance to the college and it has a guard house. They check everyone that comes in. It's a small campus and help is available pretty much everywhere. The social atmosphere is friendly and kind. I've never felt so safe anywhere else.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: It's a Hassle. I have received a great financial package from Assumption, which actually helped a lot when it came to decision time of where to attend college. Getting loans and grants is quite the hassle though. I always have to do it a few times before I even get it right and approved. It can be extremely frustrating.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: It's Pretty Good Here. Assumption is a little pricey, but most would say it's worth the money. I'm extremely challeged in all of my classes and get the attention and help that I need. I have made great life long friends and can't wait to go back. There is also plenty of things to do. There is no such thing as perfect though. I have had some tough times first starting out. It was a lot to get used to in a short period of time, but I have no regrets.

Facilities: the entire campus is clean and a great environment to be in. Students have a great time around campus
