4 College Freshman

Facilities: Ashland is a school that always seems to be building or planning to build. We have a new Education building that is gorgeous and reminiscent of Hogwarts, an amazing sciences building, a football field that is less than five years old and a rec center that is less than four years old.
Some of the dorms are small and they aren't air conditioned but you don't need to spend that much time in your room! Go out and make friends and spend time in the library or in a study room in Kettering!

Off-Campus Dining: Ashland is a small town and so there aren't very many places to eat off campus. There are the normal fast food places that are within walking distance from campus but there aren't a whole lot of places to go.

Academics: I'm in the Music program at Ashland and I have to say that the professors are some of the best people that I have ever met. All of them are so eager to help and they really want you to succeed. They all have pretty long (imo) office hours and are very willing to meet with you another time if you have classes during their office hours. I feel comfortable talking with all of the professors and they will all make a point to make you feel that way.
I've only taken a few classes in other departments so far but as a whole I think that the Ashland staff are all really willing to help as long as you're willing to ask for it.

Majors: Most of everyone is accepted right into their major. If not, they are put on a "watch" until they are accepted into it. For nursing there is no wait for clinicals and it is still somewhat easy to get right in. There is just one test to take now a days.

Campus Strictness: Our campus is pretty strict about drinking on campus and have opposite sexes on each others floors after 2 am. Our RA's enforce the rules and sometimes don't understand that we are college students who do not live with they're parents anymore.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are many fast food restaurants within walking distance. The nicer places to eat are across town or even about 20 minutes away depending how nice you want to eat.

Transportation: It is convenient that they allow us to have cars on campus. Ashland is a small campus so there is no need for much transportation. They do have a bus that takes people to wal-mart, which is free and very nice.

Campus Strictness: Safety Services are there to write you up if you are causing someone harm, but for the most part they seem to know when it is necessary to intervene in student partying and when it is okay to look the other way.

Local Atmosphere: Ashland is a small town with all the activity taking place on campus. Off campus the best things to do are taking a trip to walmart and going to bdubs for karaoke night.

Guys & Girls: The general student body of Ashland is not very diverse. The majority of the students come from the same background of a middle-class American small town family.

Academics: I am a nursing major and the work load is heavier than any other major offered at Ashland. We are the only major not currently required to also have a minor. (so we are told) We have a very heavy workload. Our classes generally have a class, a lab, and a clinical so we have 3 times the studying to do. The facilities are Amazing!!!! We have a state of the art Simulation lab. With new simulation mannequins that can do everything from blink, vomit, talk, sweat, give birth, seize, etc. We have great clinical locations and opportunities. Our clinical instructors are very knowledgeable and experienced in the fields they are teaching.

Guys & Girls: The students are your typical "traditional" college students. Some come dressed up, others show up in their pajamas. The majority of the students are your "traditional" right out of high school group. With the addition of the Nursing college there is a few more of the "non-traditional" (older, out of high school) students.

Academics: Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Nursing has an amazing state of the Art Simulation Lab that is just fantastic. The clinical faculty are great and are amazing teachers they are great at hands on learning. As with any school you have some classes that you love the professors and some that you wish you had someone else but overall it has been a positive experience. The nursing workload is heavier than any other program Ashland has to offer. We do have amazing mission trips!

Off-Campus Housing: Off Campus Housing at Ashland is irrelevant mostly because most students are "traditional college students" and campus policy requires them to reside in the dorms unless they live within so many miles of the school. However, being a "non-traditional" student, (married with kids) it was not likely for me to live in the dorms with me kids. So I did have my own home and commuted to the college.

Academics: I am enrolled at Ashland University majoring in Education administration towards my Master's. I am extremely satisfied with my educational experience this far in the program. I feel the professors I have encountered have been of the highest quality in professionalism and related experience. I look forward to each new class experience.

5 College Junior

Academics: I am totally loving my experience at Ashland University. I feel the class sizes are perfect. The professors are always more than willing to answer questions and help. The assignments are appropriate in achieving great thought and learning experience without a lot of busy work.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: They are pretty good but it can be a hassle when it comes to getting into some of the majors like nursing

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: I suggests getting a car or finding someone who has one.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: There are multiple places around the campus to get access to computers when needed.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Its fun during football season but as that dies down it can get pretty boring AU is a dry campus.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The class rooms are smaller which gives you a good advantage to work with profs most nursing clases are hard and you have to pass with a C+ or you will have to retake the class.

4 College Sophomore

Parking: Since AU is a small campus getting to parking is a 5-7 walk depending where you are I don't have a car but its highly recommended

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: It is mostly white community but they are working to make it diverse with international students everyone is friendly for the most part.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Ashland is a pretty family oriented place to live its a small religous town but everyone is very friendly.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a couple of places to eat but there are varieties of foods to choose from and for the most part everything is pretty good.
