Academic Experience: As an Ashford University student I'm basically taking courses that are required for my major. For Example; Psychology202, Exploring college, and english and composition classes to learn how to write corrective APA style papers. As a Liberal Arts major the work is very easy and all class discussions, testing and assignments are posted on the classroom board. Just read the assigned chapters and you will earn good grades. There are falcuties members who are available between the hours of 10am-7pm to help you out. The library and composition centers are available mon-fridays from the hours of 1-5 pm. Responses to these centers are to be posted 24 hours in advanced to receive a timely feedback.

Online Courses: I find the classes challenging but fun. They are fast paced. I love the first class that Ashford has their students do to get them familiar with online schooling and their own learning styles.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I really don't have enough information to go off of as I have not done this before, but it appears to be average.

Student Body: I like getting to know others students. I find it interesting and sad that there are a lot of people going to college that have poor grammar and spelling. Especially when teachers emphasize that they do their work in Word and spell check and grammar check, it's amazing to see what gets through to the discussions.

Academic Experience: The academic experience has been great thus far. My major is Applied Behavioral Science and I am so excited to be on my way to doing what I was born to do! All of the professors have been very helpful, as well as all of the advisors. I would recommend this school to everyone!

Academic Flexibility: The classes flow. I took classes that I would have passed on, i.e., Science. The first day, I could not understand how the ecosystem had anything to do with business. Taking this class and other business classes has transformed my perspective of the earth. I am more aware of our dependence on our environmnet. There were classes that I did postpone because of financial issues regarding purchasing the textbook. I communicated the problem to my advisor, and she quickly revised my schedule so that I could work with the ebook and continue the learning momentum. Schedule revisions are hassle-free.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Tuition is reasonable. The financial aid process is not to complex. The financial aid office is helpful though they could be more efficient at answering student's questions and concerns. If they had a more stable staff and didn't switch people out so often, they could keep better track of their paperwork.

Student Body: The majority of the students in my college are people who have full-time jobs or are between jobs. There are also several stay at home moms, like myself, and military personnel as well as military veterans. There are students from all around the world from a diverse array of ethnic, economic, political, religious, and sexual backgrounds who come together on our online forums for discussions.

Student Body: Ashford's on campus students are quite diverse, we have students of all ethnicities, religions, economic status', political views and sexual preferences. So we are typically very accepting of diversity.

Online Courses: I have not taken any online courses here at Ashford.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The library is wonderful. We have the option of going to the Flavian Center, which is a place that we are able to take make up tests/quizzes and get free student tutoring.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Ashford does offer great scholarships to those of us who are on campus, I am getting most of my tuition paid for. This is the main reason why ultimately decided to attend college here.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The internet connection is iffy half the time and we need to sign into the network way more often than we should have to. My printing card doesn't work, so I am unable to print anything off at school, which is quite frustrating.

Academic Flexibility: The teachers are very accommodating to those of us who are on campus, if we have a scheduling conflict they will work with us.

Academic Experience: Asford's Admission is really great. Academic just seems a bit overwhelming at times. But we are able to to cover a lot of material in a short time frame.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Ashford University as an online student in Child Development. In spite of considering myself as a "fairly intelligent" 47 year old woman, I was still concerned that I would not be able to keep up with the coursework. While my GPA was high (3.84) I worked hard to get that grade and it was a perfect balance- hard enough to be a true challenge but only sifting through real and pertinent applicable information. All of the coursework was relevant and transferrable into the "real world." The online test exams offered such a ridiculously long time window that they were almost a joke, but that said, the open book tests alleviated a lot of stress that I did not have to deal with because I hate tests. (I tend to stress out so much that I make dumb oversights.) The online, non-proctored tests were still rigorous enough to have to think through the questions and the final exams (papers) were extensive enough that understanding the material was imperative. Finally the support and discussion boards made the online experience very meaningful. Definitely recommend the school with one obstacle being the difficulty in choosing which degree major to study as there are so many interesting programs. Fortunately, I walk around thinking how much I love my educational experience at Ashford. (Any naysayers are babies who would complain anywhere.)

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
