5 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I am earning my MS/MBA in Information Systems; I cannot think of a more flexible way for an adult to complete such a degree. With all of the outside additional family issues that require my daily attention, I would not be able to work toward completing my MS/MBA without such an accommodating and flexible educational experience. My experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. I think this is the ideal model that nearly all other forms of education will one day follow.

Online Courses: The flexibility is second to none; the instructors are outstanding, care deeply about their students’ success; and work tirelessly to offer an enriching, fulfilling; educational experience. I truly wish that I had earned my undergraduate degree via an online college. I think that I would have gotten even more out of it, while also taking advantage of the flexibility that such distance learning programs provide. I am learning much more by not having to commute two hours every day to attend classes. The time I used to spend commuting; I now use to study, complete course work and the like; for me it is much more productive and efficient. I think that eventually, this will be the means by which most individuals will earn their degrees.

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
