Academic Flexibility: I was surprised at how flexible they are. I had to drop classes twice within one year, and it was not a problem.

Online Courses: We can go to class when it is convenient for us. No commuting taking up our time. At my school we take one class at a time, which is also more efficient. Every class operates the same. No surprises.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I think the school is way too expensive, but I am really between a rock and a hard place. I would prefer to be able to go on campus but time does not permit. The tuition and/or lab fees, taxes, or some other fee seems to be added or increased. On this basis, I think the school is taking advantage of students.

Academic Experience: I am in Health Care Administration. The workload tends to be a lot to me because I already have two jobs. The courses are accelerated but that is to be expected.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: The academics offered seem to be average considering it is an online school.

Online Courses: The instructors are fairly interactive with the students. There is a lot or writing so be ready. The class assignments are predictable so you know what days assignments are due.

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
