Campus Resources: For being a school who constantly advertises the importance and greatness of their technology, they have a lot of issues. There is no wireless in dorm rooms, the online 'portal' occasionally goes down, and printers often go down. IT is generally made of up students, so it can be slightly difficult to fix an issue.

Campus Resources: There are a lot of different events to go to each week, from athletics to organization events.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: There are a lot of different groups and organizations for any kind of student to join. There are also a lot of events put on by organizations that are fun to attend.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The availability of my professors is great because it's such a small school. There are also no TA's, so you always learn from a professor.

5 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The English department is probably the best at my school, in my opinion, because the teachers are the youngest and teach using newer, discussion based techniques.

College Sophomore

Online Courses: I haven't had any online classes. Classroom classes are great in size and interest.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: I have had the Presidential Scholarship both my freshman and sophomore years, and the room and board scholarship my freshman year. However, there are still some fees not covered in that scholarship, nor does it cover the price of books. Based on the fact that my education has been relatively paid for thus far, my education has been well worth it.

Academic Flexibility: Class sizes are small which is really nice and you have the opportunity to meet one on one with any teacher to ask questions or talk. Class selections are some what limited but you can make it work for your major. Small sized school means tighter community.

Facilities: security sucks, activities are good, classes small

Academic Flexibility: See previous answers regarding classes and workload.

Academic Experience: The professors would be very helpful and encouraged questions and application of real life to classwork. The work load tended to tie in with what was relevant and in current events.

Academic Experience: Again this was an online school so I did not experience the full range of opportunities offered. The online classes were goal oriented and designed to assist in student success and retention.

Facilities: Again this was an online school so I did not experience the campus lifestyle.

Online Courses: I found that the online classroom experience was preferable for me. I am an independent learner and the classroom online streamlined interaction so that you could interact with classmates only if you wanted to and at your convenience. The course load was a bit more rigorous but it assisted me with staying focused on the task at hand. Traditional courses for me took to long and allowed me time to let my mind wander so I was not as focused.

Career Services: The career services department was and is still offering assistance but I never took the time to use their resources.

Recent Alumnus

Student Body: Since I only dealt with one class of students at a time and all interaction was online I cannot accurately answer this.

Tuition & Financial Aid: This school really works well with my schedule. It had flexible start dates and classes started every 2 weeks so if I needed a later start date or had to rearrange my schedule a bit the classes still worked with me. The teachers were available and helpful and always willing to make time.

Campus Resources: Since I elected to take online courses, I knew that I would be required to have access to a computer. I have 3 computers at home that I can access at any time, so if one crashes I do have a backup. Being unemployed the only worry that I have is keeping my internet/phone bill paid so my connection is not interrupted/

4 College Freshman

Online Courses: Since this is my first experience with online learning, I am still in the awe stage. I love the flexibilty of when I log into class. The syllabus is very direct and exacting in what the expectations are for the classes. The peer-to-peer interaction is great as we have a discussion subject each week that we all comment on. The workload can sometimes be demanding, but it is what you put into it. If you want to really succeed in class, you will put forth the effort and have assignments completed before the deadline and be ready to start the next weeks class load.

College Freshman

Career Services: Since I am not post-grad I really cannot rate this service.

4 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: Being a non-traditional student, I am taking on-line classes at Ashford University. I have the flexibility of when to log on to classes and have a set deadline and expectations on my assignments. Not being in a traditional classroom setting has its advantages!

5 College Sophomore

Online Courses: You are working at your own home and at your own pace so, you are getting the flexibility that you need more to me than being in a classroom setting. With traditional education you don't have as much flexibility with having to be in a classroom setting, and then you are actually in front of the instructor, so you do not feel as comfortable as you were in an environment all to yourself. I know it made me more nervous that way. The workload are also more flexible with online than the traditional classroom setting, system setup is much more complex, and you get a more thorough breakdown of exactly what's required of you. You interaction with your online peers are great even through you are not setting in the actual with them, you can definitely get a sense of them being there by communication strategies such as discussion posts, email, etc. You also get a relationship with your professor as if he right there in front of you, because you can communicate with them as well through interaction of discussion posts, email, and you can even contact them at the cell, and home numbers, so online and traditional setting has so many different experiences. Online classes also has its perks with working with the adult working students who do not have the time for actual classroom settings, giving them opportunity to obtain their degrees.

5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Everything at school is effective and great!

4 College Junior

Student Body: The student body is huge. We have all races and ethnicities..

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: We have good resources and I enjoy using them.

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
