Online Courses: You definitely don't have distractions when learning on line that you normally would in the traditional classroom. Add in more one on one, and the ratio student to teacher it is also.

Student Body: My peers are from all around the country and world. Many are enlisted in the military many are already working professionals trying to enter different fields and some are fresh out of high school. For the most part you learn as much from school as you do from your peers. I think Ashford does a good job feeding my mind new and fresh content. And each class either furthers your knowledge on the subject taught in your prior class or teaches you something entirely different!

Academic Flexibility: I thought it would be easier than it ended up being. I'm still having trouble with my transcripts, even though I've sent them to them more than once. Not all of my credits from my previous college transferred over, so I lost money because of this, which is kind of a big issue.

Student Body: The students at my school are at most average. I don't speak or socialize them much unless it is necessary for my grade, and I assume that goes the same for the rest of my classmates. We're all mostly in the same boat, so to speak. Most of seem to be very similar as far as religion, economics, etc. go.

Student Body: I was an online student so unless someone comes out and tells us their race, color, etc., we do not know and it would not matter, we all are there for an education.

2 Recent Alumnus

Tuition & Financial Aid: Ashford University does not give scholarships to On-Line Students, now I owe $10,000 for classes because I ran out of federal financial aid. I am through with classes and basically considered a graduate but cannot receive my diploma until I pay this money. I am trying to get outside scholarships but have been unsuccessful.

Overall Experience: There were only a couple of professors that thought they owned the world. They felt that they were God and they could play with students lives.

2 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: Because I was an online student, it was not so good. I received no help with trying to find work, infact, there are professional certificates in HR and I was never informed of these. I have received nothing about being a part of the alumni association.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Resources: I took on line classes but from what I saw of the campus they are average

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
