Academic Experience: I just started a few weeks ago so I am still getting a feel for things. So far I am enjoying my first class, which is a psychology class. Each class are five weeks long so you are only doing one class at a time, which I like because I can focus on one area at a time while taking care of other responsibilities in my life.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The Tuition I Am Paying Is Worth It for the Degree I Will Receive. Ashford University tuition is at a great price for the knowledge you gain. With the classes you take and information learned, the price of the tuition is well worth it.

Academic Experience: Excellent Support Staff – In my school the support staff, I think is the best part. They are very supportive and any time you have a problem it is always someone available to help no matter what the problem is. I haven't gotten to my core classess but I have no doublt that they will be more intense than my general classes but I have no doubt that I will have the support.

Overall Experience: So Far So Good – I am a new student at Ashford University. It may be hard for me to rate the college at this point in time. Getting enrolled was a breeze. I'm currently waiting to see how many of my previous credits will transfer to this university. My Admissions counselor has been very helpful with my transition of going back to school. I look forward to seeing how the online learning experience will be for me.

Overall Experience: Very Happy – If it weren't for this school and other schools like it, I would not have been able to go back to school. I love the fact that the school is constantly keeping me updated on things that are going on. They also offer meetings for students in my area, just so they can meet other online students. I am only weeks away from my degree and wouldn't change anything about my decision.

Online Courses: Self Discipline – To take classes on-line, you have to be very disciplined. There is a lot of time management that has to be involved. The flexibility of the schedule is great but it can also catch you off guard if you are not used to it. After a couple of classes, I got a schedule down to a science that worked well for me. The professors always post their hours and the general response time if you e-mail them. The lack of face to face interaction is one thing that I kind of miss about a traditional classroom, but I am willing to take that out of the picture if it means getting my degree.

Student Body: Online So You Do Not See Them or Know Too Much About Them. Each class requires you post an introduction, but you never really get to know your fellow students. Most are older individuals, working full time, back in school to get the degree they always wanted.

Academic Experience: Professors Are the Best! The professors take an interest in helping the students to understand even the most difficult classes. The discussion posts and responses require involvement by all students so you can understand how your fellow students see a problem which helps you to understand it easier.

Student Body: Online Class Diversity – My classes consist of students who for the most part are returning to school to complete their degrees. There are people who focus on several different majors in school and from various parts of the country.

Campus Resources: Online Resources – The online resources are good. There were a couple of online videos provided that were a little bit difficult to understand, due to the accent of the presenter.

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
