5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Students dress in a variety of ways, most of them modest. Groups of students can be seen all the time on campus laughing and hanging out. Every now and then there are class parties, and in warm weather there are games of volleyball, corn hole, and ultimate frisbee on the green. There are lots of couples on campus, and it's a running joke that at least one couple gets engaged every day.

Local Atmosphere: Wilmore is a quaint little town, but it doesn't have a lot going on. Nicholasville and Lexington are close by, however, and have all kinds of attractions and stuff to see and do.

Computers: There's almost always computers available for use in the library and computer labs, except during midterms and finals, though its more convenient to have your own. You can print so many pages for free, and I know only a few people who have gone over the limit and have had to pay. The network has problems every now and then, but is good overall.

Diversity: Even though most students are part of the majority, those in minority groups are accepted and welcomed. I have never seen signs of discrimination or intolerance.

Drug Safety: I don't know anyone who uses drugs, though I have heard of some people drinking off-campus though they're not supposed to.

Nightlife: Wilmore is Dry. If you decide to go to Asbury University, you decide to sign a code of conduct that says you will not drink while in attendance there. This is not a problem for most students or professors.

Campus Housing: I love living on campus. I wouldn't have made half the friends I have if I lived at home. There are 4 traditional dorms (2 for men, 2 for women) and a selection of on campus apartments. If you ever visit, try to check them all out! I live in the Kresge women's dorm and love it because I share a bathroom with 3 other girls that includes a toilet, 2 sinks, and a shower all behind a closed door rather than community bathrooms.

Drug Safety: If you're looking for a great Christian school with very little substance abuse, Asbury is it. I doubt any other school on the planet has less drinking or drug use. Seriously.

Local Atmosphere: Wilmore is beautiful, but if you're looking for a night on the town, drive to Lexington (about 15 minutes away.)

4 College Freshman

Athletics: We have some awesome sports teams, although we don't currently have a football team. Everyone is supportive of the sports teams!

3 College Freshman

Transportation: You can get anything you NEED within walking distance, (even church!), but a lot of students have cars so they can drive to Nicholasville or Lexington on the weekends or to go to a restaurant other than Subway. Many people carpool. Having a car there is only about $25/semester.

Academics: Asbury has one of the very best and challenging Education programs in Kentucky. I am an English Education major and love both parts of it. The workload is a little above average. On Asbury's website, you can find a list of all the credit hours required for all majors/minors. They are very helpful.

Academics: Asbury provides an amazing community of learners to grow and develop in!

Health & Safety: Wilmore is a tiny town with very little commotion. There are a limited amount of police patrolling the area and only 1 or 2 security officers on duty at a time. Our health center is there with a band aid when you scrape your leg, but go to a walk in clinic a few miles away with anything else.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There is a wide variety of looks, interests, and whatnot at Asbury. Almost all students are Christian/Believe in God. A lot of musicians/singers. A lot of media communications majors.

Off-Campus Housing: If you're looking to live off-campus, stay home. Wilmore is a very small town with almost no off campus apartments. Students have to obtain special permission if under 21 to live off campus without their parents.

College Freshman

Campus Strictness: A rating would be based on whether or not you are looking for a Christian school or not. Asbury is very strict when it comes to drinking and drug use. Check out their website to see their guidelines. They enforce what they say they do.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Asbury can be stingy with scholarships based on Academics or financial need. Try to interview for a larger scholarship if possible. Asking NEVER hurts - trust me! I got an extra $1,000 just for asking if there was any extra money for aid.

Weather: I've lived in Kentucky my whole life and the weather here is fine. It only rained hard enough to phase students in their commute a couple times this past semester. It didn't snow but once.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: I love Asbury! We have a really nice athletic center with an indoor Olympic pool that I work at as a Lifeguard. The best part about Asbury is the awesome professors.

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls on campus interact quite well together. There are the typical groups of couples, but most of the people with whom I hang out with are very enjoyable. The company is good, yet when one needs alone time people are most of the time considerate and let others work. Most of the people on campus are attractive, both physically, socially, mind-set-wise, and spiritually, which provide a desired environment.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Although located not too far from a larger city, Asbury seems somewhat remote from other activities. It is a small town not too cut off from the world, yet is small enough that it feels like it. The atmosphere is what one expects when attending a private, liberal arts college.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The health department is very good, assisting students when needed and offering substantial health care aid. Security goes around campus, yet is not in too many places. Asbury has proven to be a safe campus where no major crimes have occurred. Small thefts in dorms have come about, yet have not posed any threat to the safety of the students.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: The financial aid office worked hard and seemed to genuinely care about getting me the most scholarships for which I was applicable. Without them, I would have had a harder time getting to attend Asbury.
