3 College Senior

Academics: Instructors are available after hours to help student with work.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: We have a pretty diverse school of people. Everyone usually gets along with everyone.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: A little on the pricey side and portions are a little small.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: People might steal your materials when left unattended.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: This school is considered to be one of the best design schools in the country. The work ethic and caliber of student that graduate prove this time and time again.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Some good diversity. People from all over the world.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: They offer some great scholarships. No full-rides.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Shuttles Right to Campus – In Pasadena, the buses and shuttles run like clockwork. I would get a earlier bus so you get there on time, just incase of traffic. There is a shuttle that goes right up to the Hill Side Campus, which is extremely helpful for students with no cars or rides.

Campus Dining: Good for the Buck – If you need a quick snack or a meal, the dining hall does have options. It may be a little pricey, but you can find things that fit your budget. Best of all, they do have vegie and vegan options which is a bonus with a lot of vegan students. It is a beautiful eating area, glass walls, clean table, comforting environment. To save money I would bring your own main meal and buy a snack there.

3 College Senior

Parking: Not Enough – More students are being accepted to a school that was built for a remarkably smaller number of students so problems arise in fall and spring terms mostly. Summer is quite a breeze.

College Senior

Greek Life: Not Very Present – Mostly asian students make up the majority of the student body

Off-Campus Housing: Living in LA Is Expensive – Apartments for singles are expensive, although there are a lot of portals to finding an apartment here, the neighborhoods that are safer will reflect in higher prices. You actually pay for your neighborhood here.

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: A Healthy Work and Social Environment – The design of the school lends to a clean sterile space for students to create in their respective fields. It is nestled in the St Gabriel Mountainside, with great vistas looking into the surrounding cities. Deers often are spotted running and feeding in the edges of campus which provides a nice symbiotic environment with nature, allowing students an escape and relaxing moments in between the rigor of school work.

Campus Strictness: Strict, but They Need to Be – Our security isn't involved with academic/social activity, but our grading system and expectations are high for completed work. But that's what I'd like to encounter at an expensive art school. We don't have on campus housing, so campus police are pretty benign. A lot of the students at school are about drinking age anyway, so it's a non-issue. I don't even think most of us have time to party anyway.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: There Is None – There is no campus housing. It would be cool if there were, but as it is, nothing to say about nonexistent housing one way or the other.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Its Southern California – A little hot in the summer, but one can hardly complain.

5 College Sophomore

Weather: Gotta Love Socal – I would have to say about 80% percent of the year is perfect, warm, and non humid. The rest alternates between nicely cold with a few rainy days sprinkled in.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Good, for Me at Least. I was fortunate enough to get a generous scholarship and the process was pretty smooth. That being said, it takes an enormous amount of work to get it.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Not Around School, at Least – Directly around Art Center is a purely residential area, and aside from Colorado Boulevard, there isn't all that much to do. Luckily, the drive into Los Angeles is a little over 20 minutes, and there is so much you can do there.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: We Just Don't Have It – There is no Greek life at Art Center College of Design. Since we don't have dorms on campus and have very limited space already, it wouldn't be practical.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Colorado Boulevard Has It All – Located about 4 miles away from Art Center is the busy and bustling Colorado Boulevard. I have never seen such a dense congregation of things that you would need on one street. Banks, stores of all kinds, but most of all, the multitude of restaurants. You can find fine dining to cheap burgers. Asian noodles to Spanish tapas. Small local pubs to beloved chains. No weekend is complete without a visit to Colorado Boulevard. Might I also suggest Bird Pick? Just a block off of Colorado, Bird Pick has delicious, high quality teas at a great price. Worth the 2 mile walk from home!

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Great Tools – This school has access to some of the best, most high tech tools in the the art/tech industry. These tools are bundled in the cost of tuition and should be used! Don't be afraid to learn something new.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Great Library – The library is an archive to get lost in, in addition to the vast tombs of design and art, there are are wealth of online resources to draw research and inspiration.

5 College Junior

Majors: Illustration-Entertainment Arts Track – The illustration department is the largest major at our school, so we have variable tracks within our department to determine which path we would like to take as illustrators. I chose the Entertainment Arts because of my love for film. The workload is immense, but incredibly worthwhile. The teachers are exceptional artists who are very knowledgeable in the field and I can learn out-of-school trades within the classroom. While laying down connections with my teachers and peers, I am able to make a foundation for my networks outside of school when I graduate. I plan to do an internship the next summer, and have heard that the Center for the Student Experience is helpful in finding internships for hopeful students.

Weather: The local weather rarely has any effect on my college life, it's generally nice weather all year round as it is located in the hills in Southern California. When driving in the early mornings of chilly days, it can get fairly foggy but not to the extent that it hinders my experience at school. If anything, the days can get unbearably hot during summer and we try to stay indoors as much as possible.
