Academics: I came to Arkansas State University because I wanted to get my general studies completed. I love the campus. Not only is it a beautiful building, but it also sits on the spectacularly breathtaking Sugarloaf Mountain. The professors are nice, and care about my overall well-being and success. Most are available to assist with any questions or problems that arise. The ratio of students to teachers is roughly 19:1 and everyone knows everyone else. Discussions are encouraged in class, and even the professors participate! Everyone is willing to help and study groups are encouraged. In fact, ASU has a room just for study groups! There is also a learning center where you can receive FREE group tutoring and there is a computer lab that any student has access to all for FREE!

Computers: We have labs in many of the buildings, but some are restricted to certain majors. Our library has a good amount of computers, but at peak times it can be full.

Our computers have been recently upgraded, but sometimes IT does a poor job at keeping all computers updated.

Guys & Girls: There are various cultures at ASU and they mix perfectly.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: You can tell the good dorms from the bad ones. The honors dorms are much better from what I have experienced at Kay's Hall in your freshman years. Staying on campus is very convenient as you don't have to hassle with the horrible parking situations and you feel very in tact with the university because of all the events and organizations on campus.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The campus is quite pretty. Some dorms need an upgrade but construction is ongoing.

3 College Junior

Weather: Its Arkansas! If you don't like it, it will change before you can voice your opinion.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: You will find a various range of people here at Arkansas State University. You may run across city people, small town people. We have people who travel from across the world to attend our University. Mainly we have the country down south people who attend our school.

2 College Junior

Campus Housing: The rooms are not up to par, most of them are nasty looking and they expect you to clean it when you're they but its not clean when you get here.

Parking: Parking, especially for off-campus students is absolutely terrible. Because of new construction of sorority houses, lots of parking has become inconvenient and further away from central locations of campus. Not to mention, you must drive around for 10-15 minutes to try to find a parking spot.

4 College Senior

Computers: The computers are easily accessible and they have recently added computers in a more central location to campus.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There are plenty of choices available in Jonesboro and local surrounding small towns, however prices may keep students away.

5 College Senior

Weather: The weather doesn't really effect our campus very much. It doesn't snow much and even when it does, the campus takes students' safety as priority.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: ASU has emergency lamps that are bright blue all around campus that helps all students feels safe. The University Police Dept is always patrolling and there is a text message and email system set up to contact all students when an emergency takes place on campus. I've never felt unsafe at ASU.

Majors: I am a Psychology Major at Arkansas State Jonesboro campus, and I have only become more interested in psychology since meeting the professors. Many can get you in touch with psychology professionals in the Jonesboro/Memphis area, and know a lot about where you can start working on your vitae or improving your resume if you wish to attend graduate school. A few are die-hard about getting students into graduate school and will help you every step of the way as if you were their children. I love the respect they have for education and improving psychology as a whole.

Majors: Arkansas State University (Jonesboro Campus) is highly motivated to a growing student body. They travel to many high school campuses throughout the school year to help high school students understand how to apply and what sort of financial help is offered. You can also apply online through the ASU website, and that is also pretty simple. Once enrolled on Orientation Day there are tables set up in the Student Union where you can talk to all the representatives concerning majors. They will guide you through any process you need help with and are very helpful.

3 College Junior

Transportation: Public transportation is almost non-existent. It only runs to the mall and the city library from Campus.

3 College Junior

Facilities: There is bad internet reception at several buildings.

3 College Junior

Facilities: Some of the buildings don't have good internet service.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The schools facilities are great. The library could use more computers and work space during the lunch hours. Other than that everything else is very professional. There is a great campus attitude towards campus activities and everyone loves to be involved.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Jonesboro is a decent town and has quite a bit to do. The town is also growing fast.

1 College Senior

Parking: The parking is so awful! You have to drive around for atleast 30 minutes to find a parking spot if it's not 8 in the morning.

3 College Senior

Athletics: Athletes on Campus – The athletics at ASU is a great program and has decent involvement.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Student Issues Awareness – Arkansas State University has a no tolerance policy, however I am very impressed with the campus counseling program. Counseling is widely and readily available for students who are dealing with any type of substance abuse in addition to many other issues such as stress and time management, peer pressure, social anxiety and depression which many students deal with on a day to day basis. There are no reasons for students to face these issues alone. Their door is always open.

4 College Junior

Athletics: No Idea – I don't play sports, and I'm not into sports - I guess they're decent.

2 College Junior

Guys & Girls: They guys are decent - mainly jock-type people and the girls are mainly sorority-type. Most people are stuck up, but there are a few really nice people.
