Academic Experience: Great Work Study Program – Arizona Western College offers students with a work study program. This program allows them to work in an office in college and get paid. It is an awsome opportunity offered to us the students because it is extremely flexible job that allows us to be able to work and keep up with work classes. I am currently a work study and I enjoy this position so much. I have been gaining so much experience and and developing myseld in the work enviornment. I absulutley like this program that the college offers the students.

Campus Resources: Resources Varied in Quantiy and Quality – We have our own library with books that are constantly updated. The computer lab has plenty of computers for students and installed with Windows XP. The theater is too small in stage and seating. Some areas seem outdated like the classrooms in older buildings, but our school has two new buildings. One hosts the agriculture and science classes and the other is one for student activities and enrollment. These two buildings are very nice and a popular hang out. Overall, it seems like our campus is half old and half new. A transition to a place where education and connections can prosper is happening on this campus.

Academic Experience: Low Attention for Mathemathic Major – My math degree is transferable to one of the other universities of the state. Completing this degree was hardly a struggle for me since I only was required to take four math classes. I would like there to be more math orientated classes that go beyond college algebra to calculus III. My adviser was nice, but he seemed to know little on what classes I should take for my math program. This may be because majority of his students are applying for engineering and other science based degrees. Overall, my major allows me the freedom to choose classes that interest me, so I am pleased with that.

Student Body: Busy Bodies – Most of us students, on top of school, are full-time workers as well. We go to class like we should, and move on with the day.

Academic Experience: Professors Actually Care – I love how my professors will stay after class with me if needed and help me over the internet with homework late nights. They get to know all of us students personally, it's nice to know they care.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I attend on line classes in Quartzsite and we have a small addition of AWC here, with the main college being in Yuma. Elaine and Kimberley. who both work in the Quartzsite office are helpful beyond belief. They always have time to answer questions, help fill out papers, and even e-mail information on upcoming events that you might be interested in.

Online Courses: 50/50 Class Time/Internet Data Base – I was confused at first, when my Instructor told us that apart ffrom the lesson at class we were required to do some school work through out the internet. As I got used to it I of started liking the idea of doing work in the internet, and turning in homework and emailing it to the instructor.

Academic Flexibility: Best Decision Ever – The main reason I chose this school was because of how I first wanted to experience the college life near my hometown. At first I was doubting the level of education from this school, but then I realized that it was more than just an illusion. I"ve been at this school for two years now, and my experinces have been awesome as a student.

Academic Experience: What to Expect? My major is in Radiology Techinician, and so far I've only taken general classes. In this next semester I will be taking the necessary classes to start on my major which I'm very excited about it. I can't wait, to see what I will have to work with, or expect of it.

Career Services: Career Center Is Helpful – When one of my friends graduated, he had no trouble finding a job. We have an online job board under Student Employment based on your college education and prior work experience. I was very impressed. The only thing that disappointed me was that there were only a handful of jobs available to students that justed graduated college. So, on that aspect they need to focus more on finding post-graduates careers that match their qualifications aand interests.

Campus Resources: Great Agriculture Science Program – My schol has a great agriculture science program that really get you involved in the agriculture industry. One week you could be talking about Soils and the next you are discussing Feed & Feeding for animals it is always something interesting. Through the program, you have an opportunity to internship at an agricultural company or business and get the oppotunity to really get a hands-on look at the agricultural industry and community.

Campus Resources: Food Court Is Great – The Food Court on campus is very diversified and organizaed. You caan satisfy whatever you are feeling like eating anyu day of the week (except Fridays). Whether its drinking Starbucks coffee, or enjoying a create your own salad, you always have an option at the 3C Eatery.

Student Body: In my couple of classes that I am in currently, there are a variety of students. There are some high school students, parent students, outgoing students and further on. What I have observered from most of them is that they are determined to reach their goal and learn the material. They seek and push theirselves continously.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Pay Attention – The schools education system supplies everything a student will need to help them through their education. I believe the tuition was well wroth the pay; the teachers teaching are extremely well educated were they can teach the material well. If you want to know about financial aid just ask one of the office workers or look on the website. Do not procrastinate on anyhting, it will catch up to oneself.

Overall Experience: GOOD CHOICE AWC – Arizona Western College it is a very good school. I like my teahcers, classes and classrooms. Everyone is gently and peaceful.I like it because every knows what they are doing, and why are they there. I feel proud of my college, GO MATADORS!

Campus Resources: AWC has a great amount of computers in their computer labs-- I never walked in and had to wait for a computer. There were smaller computer labs for classes which was very nice. The internet was pretty fast and if you needed to print anything, they gave a reasonable amount of free pages to print. At this school you definitely need access to a computer with internet connection as teachers rely on web-based programs to submit essays and homework and to complete quizzes. Not to mention the staff that assists with everything having to do with computers. They were always available and could always answer my questions.

Academic Experience: Excellent Staff – The professors I had at Arizona Western College were always very nice and on top of their game. They would go above and beyond to help struggling students and challenge the students who needed to be academically challenged. The amount of homework was never overwhelming, but enough to keep you focused and consistently learning. The registration process is a tad bit annoying. There are way too many places to go and people to see on campus and you need to have a few hours open to complete the registration process. Again, there are many extracurricular activities to participate in.

Campus Resources: Average School – After attending Arizona Western College for a semester, I saw that the teachers were always willing to go above and beyond to help out struggling students and make the courses challenging for those who needed the challenge. The campus is very nice and there are many extracurricular activities to participate in, but they offered a limited amount of majors.

Career Services: my counselor signed me up on a class that i could not take and ended up getting an f because that class required previous classes i did not take.

Student Body: most of the students here are working class hispanics.

Online Courses: it was very easy to have some classes at my own time

Academic Flexibility: Everything Transfers – that is good always check if they transfer and they do

3 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: Do Homework – homework gets you ready and prepared very important to get the books as i didnt and now am behind

Campus Resources: Facilities Are Fair. there are a few on campus but they are hardly open and i havent seen a gym yet. No one help you find anything it is kind of scary. But i like it and wish i could afford more years so i can attend.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: MY School Is Unique – I believe that Arizona Western College is unique because I have the opportunity to have my school less than a mile away from me. They have three facilities here which makes it convenient for anyone that does not have a ride. Wonderful teachers here as well. They really do try and make sure you understand everything. It's really great.

There are many things that make AWC an outstanding college. The small size of the classes allows the instructor to pay attention to everyone, knowing each student by his or her name. The flexibility of class schedules allows students to adjust their extracurricular activities with their school time tables. The affordable tuition allows students to save money while preparing to transfer to a four-year university. Plus, the faculty members are always ready to serve the students. Students are assigned an adviser to help them make important decisions on their academic journey. You can get connected with your laptop to the campus Wi-Fi from the dorms, the cafeteria, Starbucks, or the library. Staying in the college dorms keeps you close to everything. The library offers study rooms of different sizes that you can book for your academic needs. The Student Success Center offers free tutoring in different subjects, as well.

Attending AWC gives you the chance to embrace a new community. Through the diverse nationalities of the international students attending the college, AWC opens the door to a global community and provides the opportunity to discover different cultures. You can join one or more of the many student clubs, such as the Science Club, the Radiologic Technology Club, the Rotaract Club, and the I Team (international team), just to name a few. Besides these individual clubs and organizations, faculty-supervised programs (such as the Matador Ambassador program, the Honors program, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Student Government Association) provide leadership and connection opportunities and also a chance to get scholarships.
