5 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: I was able to have good communication with my teacher and I completely understood the class and what the teacher was trying to explain.

Career Services: In my classes i was having trouble with the subject but my school had tutoring sessions. Fortunately they also have the library where i can study too and do my homework in a quiet environment.
My school also has the bookstore where you can sell or buy books for the classes, now there doing rentals so now you can rent a book and dont need to spend as much!

Campus Resources: There's always computrs available in the computer lab. I also usually carry my laptop with me since I can use the wifi from anywhere around campus. Printing on campus is excellent since it's free and are provided with a good quota for the semester.

Academic Experience: I'm currently only taking my prerequisites for the nursing program and the classes seem fair academic wise, but I can imagine how hard they are going to get once I'm in the program.

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: My college offers Writing and Math Lab and they are all free. If anyone is struggling with either math or writing, they can always find a math tutor that is ready to help. Even though the equipment in computer lab are quite old, all the typical software like Microsoft Office is available. More advance software like Maple 16, Matlab, and Visual Basic are also available.

Academic Flexibility: I would have given it an A if there were more classes to choose from. Teachers are limited to the few if you're pursuing Engineering and Science degrees. However, the school is doing its best to meet student's demand. For example, this fall semester, there were only two Chemistry 151 classes but they were all full with 30+ students on the wait list. In the end, they managed to squeeze in 2 more Chemistry 151 classes. They even try to add more classes like Math after classes had begin.

Academic Experience: The classes themselves are quite enlightening. The professors seem enthusiastic about what they are teaching, despite the fact that they are greatly unappreciated by the college. I have no complains about the teachers, but rather they terribly unorganized administration of Arizona Western College. Half of the workers in the main office don't know of basic things such as building names, important locations, or even where specific offices are located. Other than the teachers, the staff is completely incompetent.

Academic Experience: As a Biology major, getting all of the credits I need to transfer is a hassle. I have to stay an extra year, not because I am doing poorly, but because Arizona Western College's class system leaves much to be desired. One of the classes I need for my transfer degree doesn't exist anymore, so I have to open a petition to have it created again. There is only one Biology II class this semester with 24 open slots. The classes themselves are informative, if you can actually manage to get into them.

5 College Senior

Academic Experience: So far, I have only take one education class. Most of the classes I have take are generals. But the one educational class I took was amazing. The first day of the class the teacher told us that by the end of the semester we would of realized if we wanted to become teachers or not. She was totally right, at the end of the semester I knew, and was convinced that Teaching is exactly what I want.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: Staff and teachers are really helpful, which makes them get an A, but the thing is that if you don't hurry on getting register for your classes, most likely you won't get the classes you wants since there are a lot of students that need the same class you need too.

3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: I wish the teachers were more interactive with their students. I took a class that only involved 4 students. The professor bored me out of my mind and it was one of my favorite subjects, I actually withdrew from the class due to the tiresome and wasting of my time.

3 College Freshman

Online Courses: Online classes are fairly easy. I enjoyed being able to have some time to myself to relax and focus on my schooling. The workload is also fairly easy and doesn't pile up

3 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: The main reason I chose this school was so I could stay in my hometown for a year due to funding at Universities. I hope to attend a new school next year so I can get away. AWC isn't all that fun.

5 College Freshman

Campus Resources: My school has a cutting edge five megawatts solar panel system. Which collects energy during the day to supply our school throughout the day and night.

3 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: The education is worth the money I paid for the classes, but the prices of books and things needed for the classes are quite costly. I did not receive any finacial aid. The most important part about financial aid is getting all of the forms turned in on time and to the right people.

4 College Freshman

Online Courses: I am in an online class this year and so far I have come to realize that in order to do well you really need to sign in to class a lot and keep an eye on all the due dates. After you have taken the class for a while you get used to it. There is a good amount of work that is given as well as a weekly tests and assingments. It all is about time management.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: I'm going to be studying Arts and Humanities. There are many different feilds that I can research and take classes on and it will help me no matter what I decide to major in for my Bachelor's degree. Due to their partnerships with NAU and UOA I have many possibilities of different degrees I can go into and I have the resources to do so. All teachers are teaching fields that they have an interest in and it is useful for anyone looking into new career fields!

Student Body: We have an extremely diverse college. There is a large body of international students and many students who now have the ability to student abroad through different partnerships offered with other colleges and university's. We have many non-traditional students and have many different activities and clubs for people to participate in. Everyone is sociable and friendly and msot of the time are always willing to try something new. With so many possibilties and opportunities you have to give the student body an A!

3 College Senior

Online Courses: I often have difficulty with the blackboard software and many of my online courses use SimNet or another websites for homework and quizzes including assignments on blackboard. It sometimes can be confusing with deadlines because each place has different deadlines. Always be sure to check with your teachers to make sure you have the correct dates. Most teachers communicate very well and are always willing to help.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: The fitness center is quite well equipped. It has plenty of equipment, though some is outdated, there are fun machines like a rope, rowing machine and stair climber. The trainers are very helpful and always watching for people who need help. The staff is friendly and offers towels upon each visit.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: There are plenty of computer labs at AWC, so having a laptop is not that important. However, with so many people using these computers, the network can sometimes be very slow. Wireless access on cell phones works well. You can use up to $50 worth of printing until you have to pay, so I would say there is always opportunity to print.

Academic Experience: Extremely Unorganized and Undermanned – To be quite frank, Arizona Western College has very little structure when it comes to office divisions and class schedules. As a biology major, it can be very frustrating to only have one Biology II class available.

Recent Alumnus

Career Services: Not Sure – I have never had to deal with the Career Services department at AWC.

2 Recent Alumnus

Online Courses: Probably Wont Learn Much – Online classes at AWC are a joke. They are usually composed of weekly posts and interactions with other students posts. As long as you do your weekly posts, it is pretty much a given that you will pass.

3 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: Didn't Meet Expectations – If you are a science major, good luck because there are not very many sections available to the school.

There are many things that make AWC an outstanding college. The small size of the classes allows the instructor to pay attention to everyone, knowing each student by his or her name. The flexibility of class schedules allows students to adjust their extracurricular activities with their school time tables. The affordable tuition allows students to save money while preparing to transfer to a four-year university. Plus, the faculty members are always ready to serve the students. Students are assigned an adviser to help them make important decisions on their academic journey. You can get connected with your laptop to the campus Wi-Fi from the dorms, the cafeteria, Starbucks, or the library. Staying in the college dorms keeps you close to everything. The library offers study rooms of different sizes that you can book for your academic needs. The Student Success Center offers free tutoring in different subjects, as well.

Attending AWC gives you the chance to embrace a new community. Through the diverse nationalities of the international students attending the college, AWC opens the door to a global community and provides the opportunity to discover different cultures. You can join one or more of the many student clubs, such as the Science Club, the Radiologic Technology Club, the Rotaract Club, and the I Team (international team), just to name a few. Besides these individual clubs and organizations, faculty-supervised programs (such as the Matador Ambassador program, the Honors program, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Student Government Association) provide leadership and connection opportunities and also a chance to get scholarships.
