Campus Resources: AWC makes it so much easier for you. There is a building known as the 3C building which consists of everything you will need. From financial aid, to work study, registration, to seeing advisors, to taking your placement test. It is all in the same building upstairs and there are big signs on every desk so you can choose where you need to go.

Academic Flexibility: It all depends on you to choose the times you want your classes. You can most definitely be taking classes and work at the same time. There are a lot of people who do that so it is possible. However the science classes are usually just in the afternoon so you might have trouble putting those classes on your schedule if you wish to work in the afternoon.

Online Courses: My class in online and with some classroom interaction but a lot of the work is very difficult. Having a time due date on an assignment online when you don't know what you are doing can be very difficult and stressing. But my teacher will move due dates if more then one students have an issue with the assignment.

Campus Resources: Besides partnering up with Northern Arizona University, Arizona western college has their "Three C" building which is the College Community Center where you can eat, study, registrar, have coffee, or just hang out with your classmates. Yuma has the YCAT bus which if you do not have a ride you can buy student pass for the semester. They have the study building which is called the student success center.

Academic Experience: My first intention was to be a nurse and they have fantastic nursing programs and wonderful biology classes. They have great opportunities in Yuma for nurses. The school has very educated professors with many skills they have learned and stories they tell the students. Nursing program is fantastic. I have changed career to studio art and the program is very spectacular too. Basically, besides the heat, this school is a great school. Arizona western college has partnered up with Northern Arizona University, so when you are finished with your first degree you can transfer over to the university without needing to leave your family.

Academic Experience: Although the school is far away from the city and large, it is very easy to get to class, play, study, and workout all on one place. If the professors are not as great as others that spend time on every student there is ample people who are willing to tutor that the school pays for to be there.

Overall Experience: Overall nice quality of professors and other staff. The alumni is also really good. The academics are challenging and the professors are there to help you when you need them.

Campus Resources: The campus is half old and half new. A few new buildings were recently added, as was a field of solar panels. But the computer lab and library are both located in an older building that feels like you're back in the 1970s. I've never been in the dorms but they look like World War II-era military barracks from the outside. The college is located in the desert and there is an agriculture program there, so most of the campus has desert landscaping. There is a gym, a pool, a baseball field, and a football field, but the facilities are far from state-of-the-art.

Student Body: From what I've seen, cliques are everywhere! The athletes tend to stick together, as do the Mexicans, Asians, and nurses. I haven't witnessed very many opportunities for members of different groups to mingle. Most people stick to their own kind.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: I've always had professors who were very knowledgeable about their subject and who were very approachable and helpful whenever I had a question or didn't understand something. I'm a little self-conscious so I usually ask questions after class instead of during class. The professors never make me feel like I'm inconveniencing them, they've always been very willing to help me understand the information.

Academic Experience: Instructors and faculty are very knowledgeable and approachable. The classroom lectures directly apply to what our weekly focus is in the clinical setting. I also get the opportunity for hands-on practice in the lab portion.

Academic Flexibility: What I love more about this school is the flecibility of time. I can put my own classes according to the time I am available for.

Campus Resources: i know that my school offers work study which is great! they also offer rental books and a books store which is very convenient. although there should be more student discounts and promotions.

1 Recent Alumnus

Academic Flexibility: I had just graduated high school with the hopes of entering college that summer. Sadly i was not able to attend due to my new work schedule. I was threatened that if i did not pay my tuition by a certain date my classes would be dropped. I did no pay my tuition being under the impression that my classes would be dropped as stated by awc staff . The day i went to pay for the fall semester the cashier had informed me i had a pending balance. It resulted that i was charged for the summer classes which i did not step one foot in! Wait theres more, find out that i received a No show on my transcript opened up another can of worms because my finical aid became suspended! such a sour start!...

Tuition & Financial Aid: non commutative staff. nobody seems to take initiative to give an extra hand

Career Services: I haven't interacted much with the career services here, except that they helped me get a job working for campus life.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: It seems that there is always some sort of activity happening on campus. People are friendly for the most part.

3 College Sophomore

Online Courses: Online classes move very quickly through the material. Once you can get in a good rhythm with the class then it's pretty easy.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: There's gym and pool, and many fields to practice all kinds of sports and recreation, so its pretty good.

3 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: If you want to do good in your future, the time to struggle is now, put in your best effort in school and it will pay of later. So far, AWC helps me understand all of this.

5 College Senior

Online Courses: Before taking online classes, i was afraid i was going to fail because I am that kind of students that has to interact with the professor to understand and learn. I thought it was going to be a disaster and that i was not going to be able to adapt to the online classes but it was the opposite way. last semester I took two online classes and both passed with A. they were easy to understand and helpful.

5 College Senior

Campus Resources: I am please to say that AWC has great campus resources. Staff members are always helping you. If you have any questions or any concerns, they try their best to help you. People do not hesitate to contribue and help you achieve their goals. The resources they provide are amazing.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: My major is Biology and it is really hard to get into the science classes. Mainly because they fill up really fast with students that hold priority registration. They have more credits so they get to register earlier. The workload in some of my Biology classes are hard but not impossible. It helps keeping what is taught.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Like I said before, there is always help from the professors and tutors. There are also many work study opportunities and extracurricular activities.

There are many things that make AWC an outstanding college. The small size of the classes allows the instructor to pay attention to everyone, knowing each student by his or her name. The flexibility of class schedules allows students to adjust their extracurricular activities with their school time tables. The affordable tuition allows students to save money while preparing to transfer to a four-year university. Plus, the faculty members are always ready to serve the students. Students are assigned an adviser to help them make important decisions on their academic journey. You can get connected with your laptop to the campus Wi-Fi from the dorms, the cafeteria, Starbucks, or the library. Staying in the college dorms keeps you close to everything. The library offers study rooms of different sizes that you can book for your academic needs. The Student Success Center offers free tutoring in different subjects, as well.

Attending AWC gives you the chance to embrace a new community. Through the diverse nationalities of the international students attending the college, AWC opens the door to a global community and provides the opportunity to discover different cultures. You can join one or more of the many student clubs, such as the Science Club, the Radiologic Technology Club, the Rotaract Club, and the I Team (international team), just to name a few. Besides these individual clubs and organizations, faculty-supervised programs (such as the Matador Ambassador program, the Honors program, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Student Government Association) provide leadership and connection opportunities and also a chance to get scholarships.
