Majors: I am currently a Nutrition student at Arizona State, and I hope to use my degree to go into the field of community nutrition. I chose to pursue a career in nutrition because that is where I thought I could make the most impact in my community. I always wanted to be a nurse or a doctor so I could help people but I came to find out that I am quite squeamish around blood. I might not be able to fix someone's broken bone but I can make sure they get enough calcium so it doesn't break so easily. It is my hope that if the leaders of the future have a solid foundation built on quality nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, they can live up to their full potential. I am also very passionate about food, so I believe nutrition is the perfect marriage of science and culinary arts. I believe in fresh, locally grown organic food. I want to change the world one plate at a time! It is so rewarding to do something for the greater good. I believe by putting positivity out into the universe you will in turn receive it. I’m simply paying it forward.

Nightlife: The lightrail runs right through campus and can take you pretty far and it runs late. There is a lot of stuff on mill just west of campus late night for people who wish to drink. One can usually find a party every thursday through Saturday. If youre underage and don't like they party scene then there comedy shows in the Memorial Union and other activities organized by MU after dark. There are also a lot of events held by your residential community that can fall under Nightlife categories. Dorm quiet hours started at 11pm weeknights and 2am weekends but even my CA and floor never really cared, we would still watch loud movies and game regardless. Only mattered during finals week when a 24 hour quiet hour was instilled.

Guys & Girls: At Arizona State you can find every type of person. From the frat guys and sorority girls to international students. ASU is a melting pot of different types of people. Because of the large student population, it allows for many different types of people to be found there. You'll find locals, but you'll also find many exchange students and out-of-staters.

Weather: Its Hot, its freaking Arizona......

but only for the first month and a half then its nice until the last month and a half of second semester. You shouldnt need more than a light jacket. It gets windy though and storms a couple times but it is usually clear and sunny

Greek Life: I am not apart of Greek life at Arizona state University although many people choose to and it is a thriving component of the University community.

Drug Safety: if you want em you can find em but if you dont you dont have to worry about it. Your roommate might have em in which case you might want to switch if you wish to avoid a hairy situation. there is hookah being smoked often at night around campus but supposedly the school is going tobacco free so all of this should go away.

Transportation: Arizona State University has a great transportation system. They have shuttle buses that can take you from campus to campus. Many of the campuses are also located by the light rail. All campuses are close by a freeway as well.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Students on campus are attractive if you like the west coast look. Very beachy, short shorts, long hair, and skinny ladies are the usual. The guys have a better mix but tend to be pretty cocky. I try to focus on my schoolwork rather than the looks of my classmates.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Hands down one of the best campuses for student life. Before even applying when I visited campus everyone mid semester was wearing ASU clothing. The spirit alone captivated me. The sporting events and rallies are high spirited and fun. The student resources and advisors are always there to help you any way they can. Definitely one of the best.

Local Atmosphere: Tempe is located in an amazing area not far from Phoenix. Also 5 minutes from campus is Mill ave where all the bars are located. There is a zoo 15 minutes away as well as several museums. The Grand Canyon and lake havasu are both 5 hours away, a drive but well worth the trip.

College Sophomore

Computers: I am completely unsure. I have always found myself at the library to study on my laptop where I find great peace of mind and solitude.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: A lot of police presence, I have never felt unsafe or seen any foul play. Any events that happen on campus are immediately notified via text or email when they happen and are resolved. Beautiful campus and overall great and friendly staff.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of off-campus options but not many healthy ones.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: ASU's facilities aren't the worst you'll ever see, but they aren't the best ever. Many of the classrooms are older but the business school is going through many renovations, Hassyama (dorms) are also quite new and a popular choice among incoming Freshman.

Campus Dining: To be honest, it's pretty average. It's not the greatest, but it's also not the worst you'll ever have. There's a selection of dining halls and a few on-campus other dining options. But there pretty normal, Taco Bell, KFC, etc.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Honestly, it really depends on the field that you go into. The business school for instance is a school that's looked highly upon (and is often where most of ASU's funding goes).

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There are all kinds of guys and girls at this university. Guys ranging from hipster to nerds to jocks and then to douches. Girls have pretty much the same. You can definitely find a lot of sorority girls. Their conversations can get really weird and funny if you take the time to listen.

Scholarships: It's never easy receiving financial aid; especially at an office where they change out workers every semester or so and they don't know what they need or what they are doing. It's very rough. However, there are a variety of scholarships and work study options. My advice, apply for the university scholarships, try to get work study, and apply for scholarships that are not related to the university. Avoid loans because they will come back to bite you. Only take them if you absolutely need them (from a student with lots of loan debt to pay off).

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: I don't see or hear many people doing drugs. Mostly, it's just smoking or doing some hookah at home or off-campus. Alcohol and partying is much more popular

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Being under 21 makes nightlife a little difficult for incoming students. School ran activities and events are really the only night life things that students under 18 can do. Clubs do allow for events that are 18 and over, but it isn't that often.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Cutting edge! The off campus residences are brilliant high rises with plenty of beautiful built rooms, pools, and recreational areas. In short, these residences are excellent!

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There is n real way of describing any general air about the students of ASU, as students tend to break into their groups, but all appear to be friendly enough and are always willing to help should you need it. Likewise to good character, there are plenty of hot girls who vary in character as they do in their love of fun.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are many places to eat, but like everything else you will eventually get tired of it

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: ASU is in the process of renovating many of their freshman dorms. Staying on campus is definitely recommended although it can be a little pricey.

2 College Freshman

Parking: The parking is extremely overpriced at the Tempe campus. It's around $500-$600 for an annual parking pass. It's also common for car tires to melt while in the lot during the summer.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
