3 College Freshman

Diversity: On West Campus, I have encountered very little diversity. On other campuses, such as Tempe, there are tons of people with a wide range of beliefs and backgrounds.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There is hardly any good off-campus housing near West Campus. Near Tempe, though, there are tons of great options for off-campus living!

Scholarships: I received a great scholarship from ASU, as well as money from filling out my FAFSA. I could have tried to get more financial aid, but I am happy with what I got, and the process was very easy.

Campus Strictness: The administration policies have been made very clear. Overall, the policies seem to be enforced. From what I have seen, the campus police are very nice and helpful if you are respectful and follow the policies.

Academics: I know I am getting a great education. The class sizes are small, which makes it easy to connect with professors. There are many resources, including free tutoring, that are offered in order to help me succeed.

Local Atmosphere: While Glendale does have many things to do, none of these are located within walking distance of my campus.

Off-Campus Dining: There are very few off campus dining options that are good, healthy, and not pricy within walking distance of my campus. If I were to go off campus to eat often, which I do not, I would always be going to the same places.

Greek Life: Almost all Greek life is on the main campus in Tempe, so I'm not surrounded by much of it. However, it does not seem to be a huge deal whether you are or are not in a fraternity or sorority.

Transportation: I am located on ASU's West Campus, which is in Glendale. There campus shuttle does not run on weekends, which is extremely inconvenient because there is not much to do around the campus. While there is public transportation, it is not easy to use, and is very costly.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: They are willing to make time for your questions and work with you.

Drug Safety: There's the occasional on-campus smoker but that's really all that I've seen.

Athletics: There's a large exercise building on campus that offers much to students with different athletic interests.

Campus Housing: It's nice being close to the people on your floor. Friendly atmosphere. People from other floors are also friendly.

Campus Strictness: It works well. The administrators are kind and enforce the rules politely.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: The shuttle goes straight up to the airport. There are also a lot of bus lines that will take you all around to other cities.

Greek Life: I'm indifferent about Greek Life. I don't know many details about it.

Weather: It's easy to work with.

Nightlife: There are free events every Friday and Saturday night hosted on campus by the school.

Diversity: Diversity is all over the campus. We need diversity so everyone gets to experience different people and gain new found knowledge about them.

Majors: I do plan to take an internship in my junior year of college. I find that they email us all the time regarding internships. I don't think I will have trouble finding an internship and I feel that students are prepared if they put in the effort.

Majors: I like my program. I want to be a television or media executive someday. I feel my program helps me to learn better about the media business and gain knowledge on being innovative for my future success.

Academics: The academics at ASU are top notch. Some professors are not much of an educator but the majority are. I have learned so and gained the rich experience every student deserves.

Drug Safety: We don't really have much of that on the campus. If it is going on, it is well hidden.

Off-Campus Dining: I love the off campus dining. There are great places for a student discount. You have to have hunt for them but they are there.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
