Campus Housing: The dorms aren't a nightmare to live in, but they aren't amazing either.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek students are everywhere. Typical scene, parties, close-knit communities. It's not for everyone though.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Plenty of Parties – ASU is well-known for it's social atmosphere. As the largest university in the US, there are plenty of options for everyone. There are lots of parties, clubs and anything really. Mill is a great hangout place and throughout the valley there is something for everyone.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are quite a few places in the Tempe area. Your best option is heading down to Mill Ave. They have quite a few good places to eat, but it is not the cheapest area. There are lots of little diners throughout the valley, but not within walking distance of ASU. Arizona has a lot of variety and the mexican food is better than anywhere else I've been. There hasn't been too much ethnic variety in the past, but that is changing.

Campus Strictness: Dorms are dry. Easy to sneak in liquor, and depending on the CA's you could get away with drinking and being a little loud

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Computer System Engineering – I am a computer system engineer. It is a mixture of Computer Science, math and electrical engineering. I have had some very enthusiastic professors who are into what they teach. The workload at times varies. Usually it's pretty fair. Professors are willing to help you and there are plenty of tutoring hours.

4 College Senior

Computers: The computers at my university are easily acceptable to me and work great. They have great and clear network and it is most reliable and the speed has never been a problem for me.

2 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's a menta institution parading around as a college – I'm a freshmen, and I've been here for about 2 months, and I've wanted to transfer since before the second week. People sucks here. I used to say hi to random people just to be nice and maybe make some friends, and I got snubbed by snobby girls and jerk guys, which is basically everyone. Also, the people in charge here who think the only way they can improve the school's reputation by breaking up parties instead of cracking down on admissions and letting anyone in with a 15 on their ACT are retarded. I would rather go back to high school than stay here for another four years. I'm already talking to other schools about transferring because this school sucks so bad. Go anywhere else but ASU. It's truely atrocious

Weather: It's Alright – The weather is usually very hot and there needs to be mo0re shade and possible misters

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: It Could Be Better – I wish there was more of a selection. There needs to be more healthy foods and the prices need to be less expensive

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Tempe is a pretty safe area! Tempe campus is a very safe area, especially since there are a few residential districts nearby. Police are available when you need them, and the streets are very clean and relatively new, making it easy to drive. There are provisions for pedestrians and clearly marked bicycle lanes to avoid any accidents.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments and Condos Are Reasonable – There are many housing opportunities around the ASU area. Apartments are reasonable prices, and condos are becoming more affortdable to rent especially if multiple students share housing.
The campus is in an well-rounded area with everything available including diverse shopping, hiking trails, parks, and sports activities available nearby.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Being the largest university in the nation opens a lot of doors that you didn't even know existed. They are well networked with firms and potential employers. No doubt about it they understand the importance of relationships.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: California Blondes – There are a lot of girls here from California and a lot of girls that love the beach. Plenty of blondes if you are into that and everyone is fun loving. Some need to pay attention in class though if you get my drift.

Health & Safety: Safe and Secure – Both the university and the city of Tempe keep a close eye on everything going on around campus. They are quick to respond to any needs and don't tolerate law breaking. It is a safe place to be overall.

3 College Senior

Transportation: There's the Light Rail which goes through Tempe, to Mesa (east) and to Phoenix (west). It's cheap and easy to use, but is only good if you are heading to certain areas. There's the bus, which is super cheap but is a pain because you have to do transfers and the buses are never on time.

2 College Senior

Parking: Parking permit are extremely expensive. Unless you are there five days a week for eight hours a day, they are not worth it. There are meters in various spots, but you can only park in them for one or two hours. ASU will ticket you if you are parked where you don't have a permit or if there's an expired meter.

4 College Senior

Facilities: Campus has many different facilities for students to utilize. The Memorial Union (campus center) has many food options, gaming areas, study areas, computer labs, and much more. They gym and pool on campus are very nice. There are always vendors, student clubs and events happening on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Great Atmosphere – Arizona is a very hot city but there are a few attractions. On the strips there are many clubs and bars for young people to have fun. There are also beautiful mountains and parks for the active people that want to go jogging or walk.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Despite the drug problem at Arizona State University, I love it here. The campus is gorgeous, most of the people are friendly, and the Interior Design Program is amazing! There is immense school spirit here, which is different than my high school, and I love it! Even though it has a reputation for parties, the academic programs here are really good. There are at least a handful of prgrams which are highly rated among others in the nation. It is not all just fun and games, you have to work hard to earn that coveted degree.

Drug Safety: "Arizona Meth Project" – The surrounding areas around Arizona State University, Tempe Campus, do not really provide a great role model for the students attending Arizona State University. Arizona is known for its Meth problem, though, I do not really see much of it on campus. The drug of choice by the students, is popularily marijuana and of course, alcohol. Being known as the number one party school in America, Arizona State University does live up to its reputation.

4 College Senior

Diversity: Arizona State University is a melting pot of students. There is every imaginable relgious affiliations who have centers within walking distance to campus. There are many groups and clubs that unite certain ethnicities and races as well as unite everyone. There does not seem to be many diversiy issues across campus. I do not hear very often of an instance where there has been a crime committed based on race. Walking across campus I notice groups of friends together who do not have the same background, racially, but they still are friends and they are able look past accept each other for who they are.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Nice People – I am not super social but so far the people have been pretty nice.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: Tuition Keeps Rising! The tuition is so unpredictable. Save up now, you never know what it will be next semester!

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Parking at the West Campus Is Amazing – The parking at the west campus is huge! The main reason I attend that campus, I hear all of the other ones are pretty terrible.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
