3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The only tips I have are to fill out the FAFSA early, do as many scholarships as one can, and continously go to the Finicial Aid office.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Our school has the Undie Run which gets school regconigition and also news time. It is a big part of the school year because this is a time when students candonate whatever they want whether it is clothes or food and also have a good time by celebrating the end of the school year.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: It Is Okay – This is a majority white school. Although I do not feel out of place, other students tend to be a bubble and away from the other students.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Student's Academic Progress – Students must maintain a certain gpa and cannot be off track in their department major for two semesters.

2 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The Way Student's Dress – Students dress in their pj's or half naked, but this isn't the whole school that does this only some.

Overall Experience: I'm transferring. The average "ASU lifestyle" wasn't really for me but this is true of most of my friends as well. Many people I met are leaving, the ones who stay are generally from around here and other places out west

1 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Eh Not So Great – It was cool to meet a lot of the people here I met, but I felt like ASU lacks a lot you can get elsewhere. It is also very expensive for out-of-state kids. Felt like ASU was missing a lot

1 College Freshman

Greek Life: The Greek life here is rife with immaturity. I paid them no attention and received none in return. Do not expect to get into Greek parties if you are not in Greek life yourself. Girls get in easy

Athletics: Some People Are Really Into It – It can be cool if you are really into it. I know they just tried to raise the cost of student tickets

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Small crimes are common, ex. bike theft, laptop theft, but these happen everywhere. Walking around late at night is very safe, because there is almost no one waking around at night! Ever! I am from baltimore and people walk around all night- its not like that here at all. The only danger that you might find is from dealing bums/crazy people walking around on drugs.

5 College Freshman

Weather: The weather here is amazing. Very sunny most days. it can get gusty in the desert but its never a bad thing really. Summer is hot, winter is warm.

1 College Freshman

Transportation: Not Much, Nowhere to Really Go, Limited Access – There is the light rail which goes through Tempe into Phoenix. It is useful for getting into Phoenix, but what there is to do for fun in Phoenix is beyond me. The only thing I ever heard of kids using it for is to go to a suns game, or kids that go to one of ASU campuses (Other than the main Tempe campus). it can be helpful if your trying to get to a party or restaurant or something. There is a bus system in the area, but they are slow and run a confusing route.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Pretty Nice – Many computer labs, you can find a computer usually

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: University Owned = Bad – It's best to get your own place and live in not something that is university owned. You won't have to deal with CA's that way and you live with your friends

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of Options – Lots of fast food, subs, mexican food, etc Pretty good Decently priced

1 College Freshman

Parking: I don't have a car but I know for a fact the price of a parking pass is ridiculous, the lots aren't in convenient spots, not bad if you skate but still why skate to your car? Everything is spread out like that in AZ

2 College Freshman

Nightlife: Many typical "college" parties and ragers, often at peoples apartments/houses/dorm/whatever. what kinda party your getting into depends on who you are and who your hanging out with. all different styles, some more predominant than others however. If your looking to come to ASU to party I'd say its not worth it TOO MANY COPS HERE TURN AWAY

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Students in the Arts Get S******** Dorms – All different styles of dorms goin on at the Tempe campus

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Many, many, people at ASU do not do drugs. At the same time though you could probably find whatever you were looking for in Tempe, its a party town.

1 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Rip Off – The dining hall food sucks, everything in the on campus convince stores is expensive as s***, the hours of the dining halls suck, I often rolled up to find the place closed. Imagine everything being a few dollars more than it needs to be

3 College Freshman

Facilities: Campus Facilites – The Memorial Union is a pretty nice place to get some food, read, or just chill. The food there is pretty much only open during the campus' "peak hours" ie, most people come to campus for class during the day and then leave and go home. The best facility on campus is the SRC: they have a ton of weights and equipment, courts, machines, random rooms, and a dope pool

2 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: it depends on who you are and who you know, what you do, how you do it. if you be yourself you'll be straight here. a lot of people dip out after the first year myself included, its all good tho i have no regrets. more gay people in az than east coast good vibes however

3 College Freshman

Academics: Geography Major – This is actually a pretty good geography program here at asu. Any of the sciences are a straight choice at asu. I was a film major first semester- it was bullshiitt, they teach it as a business and not an art

1 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: AZ Cops – AZ is crawlin with police Im from the east and not used to this many cops being around, they are a common sight both on campus and off of it. It is not uncommon on any given night to see 3-4 cops (bikes, segway, cars, motorcycles) all on the same block. The mentality these cops have is f***** up, they are wild. Surprised that the people of AZ have not reacted to this more severely. F*** cops.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: The search and variety of scholarships are limited on ASU. Although, every institution has their own scholarship search to make the search much easier for specific degrees.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
