Transportation: Many Options – A great thing about ASU is all of the options of transportation. One could pay $25 and receive and UPass for the lightrail and bus system, or they could purchase a parking pass for any campus. Great options!

Diversity: One of the reasons I chose ASU was because of all of the diversity on campus. You can walk around anywhere and see a white, black, Asian, or Mexican person within the first few seconds. Every economic background is represented at ASU, as well as political and religious beliefs. Different sexual orientations are also widely known and accepted at ASU.

Scholarships: The amount of Financial Aid I received is unreasonable. The amount they gave me was not even enough to cover tuition costs. On top of that, even living on my own they still refuse to give me more. I was forced to get alternative loans through my bank. The financial aid representatives acted as though everything would be okay when in reality, it's not.

Local Atmosphere: City of Tempe – What isn't there to do in Tempe? Arizona State University, one of the largest universities in the country, has just about everything to offer. Located near ASU is Arizona Mills, and huge shopping mall with a Harkins Theater, and also Tempe Market Place is near too. The atmosphere is great, lots of people I can relate to. There is always something going in around here no matter what.

Academics: Computer Science to Mathematics – After being at ASU for over 2 years, some people have been extremely helpful in guiding me though the classes and others have just added to the headache. My advisers have been my saviors throughout most of my college career and the professors are really great too. ASU does mostly a fine job in selecting their professors and advisers.

Parking: Parking is a problem for Arizona State, only due to the price of the parking permits. Parking lots are in abundance, but they drag and hefty price for a 8 by 6 foot piece of concrete. If you're comfortable paying $750 for a parking permit, then ASU is the place for you!

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is extremely diverse at Arizona State; ASU contains scattered dining halls throughout the campus, little restaurants hidden in between buildings, the cornucopia of choices on Mill Avenue, the many convenient and delicious stops in the Memorial Union and the obvious large selection of the outlying city, Tempe. P.F. Changs is relatively "on- campus," the food is beyond delicious and not too expensive, when comparing other "upper" restaurants. Pita Jungle and Extreme Pita also sit on the beautiful campus, for a healthy indulgence, these cheaply priced underrated pieces of heaven are the perfect place for anyone to stop in and get a good meal! A popular sandwich shop, aside from Subway, is Jimmy Johns. Jimmy Johns is located across from the Hassayampa dorms (which is extremely convenient for most) AND is located on Mill Avenue; this "up-scale" sandwhich place obtains high- quality meat, "FAST DELIVERY & SERVICE," and almost --beats-- the prices of the ordinary Subway- a favorite of mine, and almost all the other students!

Scholarships: Get it done asap! the soon it is the done, the more money you may get

Scholarships: The process wasn't as difficult as some make it out to be. Well at least for me. I took the online approach. Very fast and easy. Not only does it tell you the amount of money you may receive. The website also has available sources for scholarships handy.

Weather: As seen on the new today, its to hot for any outside activity. Well at least for the next few hours. The best time to avoid the sun is at noon. Temperature is expected to drop during the night time. A cooling of ninety degrees. The best way to beat the heat, is a lot of cold drinks. Drinks such as ice, water, juice, and soda if needed ( not highly recommended. How about taking a dip in the pool to blow off some steam. And don't forget the sunscreen.

Guys & Girls: Perry Pumas Daily News – To at Perry High School, eager students enter the campus. Eager for what? Ready and willing to learn, others looking forward to the time spent with friends. The ladies wearing all of this season latest fashion. Such as forever 21, Agaci, Love Culture, Coach and etc. The jocks A.K.A dudes sporting letterman jackets, v-necks and vans. The bell rings for lunch, all the cliques sit together. Dancers, cheerleaders, and the football players mingle together. For it is unheard of to not sit outside of your clique. Time to go back to class, what's another three classes? Well, unless you are fortunate enough to have half days. Leaving campuses earlier then the rest. With the rest of the day free to do whatever you want.

Scholarships: Process Needs to Improve – I received the money that was necessary to cover all my expenses but the process is a hassle. After you think your done with turning in all the paperwork that is needed it always turns out that they ask for more or that something is missing.

Campus Housing: Upperclassmen Dorms Experience – Living in the upperclassmen dorms definitely has its advantages. Especially in the dorms im living at which is the Barretts Honors College Dorms. These dorms have its own dining and fitness center, as well as an entertainment room. Its comfortable to live in and the study and private rooms are very helpful too.

Scholarships: The scholarship application is a hassle. Most are need based off of taxes, but they do not realize that, that does not compare to what people have to spend money on. People who look like they may have money might not, and need help to.

Greek Life: Greek life is diverse, yet mostly about partying, which is fun at times but people also need to focus on school.

Scholarships: Took all the work out of my hands to get me my financial aid! Even offered a direct deposit option to put any extra money after expenses directly into my account!

Drug Safety: Depends What Your Scene Is – Really it just depends who your friends are. No pressure to do drugs, however they are available.

Facilities: Lively Dorms – School spirit can be felt everywhere, and on-campus residents take it to another level! With great community assistants and awesome residence hall activities, dorms are definately the place to experience the college life. The convenience of being close to everything from Scottsdale Fashion Square to Mill Ave makes it all the more while.

Scholarships: I come from a well off family but still received some financial aid. I thought that was great because I am coming from out of state.

Campus Strictness: Campus Police – Campus police is very strict. Underage drinking in dorms is highly frowned upon and a lot of parties get busted.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Bar/Club Scene – Mill Avenue is very close to campus and offers many bars and clubs for those students 21 and older.

Weather: Hot for the first two and last month or so of school, besides that it is perfect.

Drug Safety: The university is very strict on drugs and alcohol, but that doesn't stop students. Marijuana and many hard drugs are prevalent among the student body, its just part of the culture. As a non drug user I find it easy to resist but for people that are easily influenced, this could pose a problem.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: Ask for a Scholarship – I had good grades and test scores coming out of high school but nothing spectacular, and ended up getting a 10,000$ scholarship. They usually don't outright offer you an academic scholarship, you need to ask for them to review your portfolio. There are stipulations to keeping scholarships I think for most it is a 3.25 GPA and 12 credit hours per semester.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of Choices – There are TONS of places to live in Tempe. The rent will be more expensive than your average college town but it is easy to find a nice place to live close to campus.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
