Local Atmosphere: Excitement All Around – Arizona is mega hot with one exception Arizona State University. In the mist of Tempe Arizona there is a wonderful campus filled with students ready for the excitement. Mill Aveune offeres a wide varity of shops, bars & hangout spots for college students. Two hours away is our rival school UA, which is a huge party school.

Majors: Architecture Firms – As an architecture major, I will be helping in architecture firm. Some may be working on things from fixing drawings to consulting.

Local Atmosphere: Tempe is a small town with lots to offer. Tempe is right next to Phoenix and a couple of miles away from Phoenix's airport. It is exactly two hours away from University of Arizona. It has a lot of great places around campus to hang out!

Local Atmosphere: Sun Devil Life – Tempe is a city full of attractions to college students. There is always a place to go to to hae fun, relax and to enjoy. Shops to just spend a delightful time.

Majors: I was hopping ASU would have Fashion studies, but they don't.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Special Study Options – what i like about Arizona State is that they have tutoring for almost all the subjects they offer.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Hot Weather – If people like to live were the weather is warm, then Arizona is a good choice to live in. For me I don't like heat, I would prefer living in snow.

3 College Junior

Majors: I Don't Regret Anything – I intended of doing environmental engineering, but the only one offered was civil engineering with concentration in environmental which is ok because i believe it can open more doors to my career

3 College Junior

Academics: Hard Work – civil engineering major. so far profesors for the lower division classes are alright but ive heard good stuff bout upper division ones

Local Atmosphere: Small Suburb in Big Metropolis – theres lots to do if you have a car but if not, there always mill ave which is a street right next to the campus, packed with bars n recreation spots

Majors: Internships are is a need in order to get hired out of college. However my problem is time, If I am going to school full time and working full time, where is the time to work for free and gain the experience I need.

2 College Senior

Academics: What Do I Pay for? The counselor's seem very inconsistent with each other, one will try to help me why the other seems not to care. The professors are great at their subject they love it, and keep it interesting, but lack time for students cause the work load is overflowing due to budget cuts. The registration process is much more difficult and frustrating then past colleges I have attended. N

Local Atmosphere: Arizona Hot and Hotter – Arizona State University is a very well known school. It does have it's ups with school, however it is known more for it party skills. It is a fast pace environment with many kids not going for education. The sports teams are a huge part of the college life, put have seem to over look the education part.

Majors: Relatively Easy – To be accepted into the journalism program at ASU, you are required to have a high school GPA of at least 3.0 and either a high SAT score, or be in the top 15% of your graduating class. I encountered no difficulties and the program did not require an essay or letters of recommendation.

Majors: Depends on the Program – Getting in to ASU is extremely easy. Getting in to the Journalism program is a little more difficult because they do require you to have a GPA of 3.0. The Barrett Honors College is very difficult to get into and they require you to maintain a 3.0 GPA for as long as you are in the honors college.

Academics: Easy to Seek Opportunities – As a journalism student, my school makes it very easy to find an internship or job. Each year, an award-winning journalist comes to the school and is awarded for their excellence in journalism. Last year, Diane Sawyer was awarded. She sat down and answered questions and gave us advice about her field. There is top-of-the-line equipment and editing programs at our fingertips and most of my professors are retired broadcasters, editors, or reporters (Including Aaron Brown, former CNN anchor). I would highly recommend this major if attending ASU.

Local Atmosphere: The New Downtown – Downtown Phoenix is in a middle of a change. The city of Phoenix has made it a project area. They are building new apartment complexes, opening more stores, and they moved the University downtown as well. They are making Downtown and more community oriented place and cleaning it up. Downtown Phoenix is becoming the hub of all things Arizona including community, culture, commerce, and night life.

Local Atmosphere: A Lot of Connections – As a journalism student, I am thrilled to live in one of the top ten media markets in the U.S. There are many local stations that offer internships and part-time jobs to students. Also, there are many museums, concerts, art shows, and sporting events to attend on the weekends.

Majors: Struggling With Biochemistry – To start off I am an average student who fears entering the honors program. When I realized I had enrolled for Biochemistry and discovered that it was one of the more difficult major I had a second thought about going the easy way and changing my major. However after asking questions I discovered that there was a chance for this average student to survive the rigorous curriculum of Biochemistry. Arizona State University has subject labs where students like myself can access any time for extra help, along with teachers that schedule office hours to help their students succede.

Academics: As a new students I may not have much experience, however diversity stands out when I think of the curriculum at Arizona State University. What I mean by 'diversity' is the chance for students to take classes outside the ones designated for their major. As a Biochemistry major I was a little disappointed thinking that I would not be able to take an orchestra class when I had the qualifications as an intermediate player. Though some classes are for majors-only I have been able to join a class for non-majors where I will be placed in quartets which meet once a week and expand my performance ability.

Local Atmosphere: This Place Is Huge – Its not until that first day and that first step of independence on the campus of Arizona State University to understand the establishment in Tempe. ASU is alone its own city so much that there is no need to step outside its boundaries. The campus is filled with the vibe of many individuals that there is a community for any individual. In fact the campus is so large there are shuttles and buses with free access to all students if a class is on the opposite side of campus that runs regularly.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Fan Support – the fan support at ASU athletic games is pretty strong, but very weak when it comes to supporting girls sports. It is unfortunate, but hopefully will improve in the next upcoming year.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I love my major. It is so interesting a=yet challenging at the same time that it always keeps me intrigued. I still have lots to learn and I look forward to it all.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I have yet to move into any off campus house, but of the friends that I do have that are owners or renters, they feel very comfortable and safe. I feel safe as well whenever I travel off campus.

Overall Experience: ASU is a great school. Being able to meet students from all over the world is pretty cool. Teachers are great, and the campus is great. If you need help there is always help out there you just got to look.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
