Local Atmosphere: Opportunity for Fun! ASU Tempe campus is right in the center of other huge cities which have tons of activites to immerse yourself into. There are professional sports stadiums, museums, cultral centers, special event centers such as play houses and clubs.

Scholarships: Stressful but Possible – Hard to find right types of aid, but when seeking help from financial aid office can make it possible.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Football and Softball – Two teams that bring a lot of recognition and are very much supported by the student body.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Decent, but Typical – Most days they offer decent food, but usually the same things everyday. Sometimes students can get tired if eating the same thing everyday.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: GOOOO DEVILS!!! You can't get more school spirit than the SUN DEVILS!!! The school invests a lot of money into athletics and we have amazing teams. I am not a big sports fan, but I always make it out to a few games a year, just because it is so much fun. While our football can sometimes be frustrating for fans, we have tons of other teams that really represent us well.

Guys & Girls: Plenty of Bros – There are 72,250 students at ASU... so you are bound to find someone you like. I personally don't like the super-tan, bleach blonde, and over-done make-up... but if that's your thing, you are going to love it. There are plenty of bros as well. I would say that is the predominate style. However, there are plenty of other looks around ASU... including a healthy ginger population!

Campus Housing: I live at Center Complex at Best C. Best C is the hub for the whole complex. We have a computer lab that has dual screens for windows and 27" Macs. This complex has buildings that have community bathrooms. They're sometimes nasty but there's a cleaning staff. Center complex is isolated from everyone. It's located on the SouthWest corner of the campus. It's basically near everywhere especially the MU which is the hub at ASU. MU does close early though and the dining hall over there. People that live here needs to go to farther dining halls and restaurants late at night. There's other dorms at the North Campus Dorms which has PV and san pablo and hassy/barret/sonora/vista in the southeast area.

Local Atmosphere: It's How You Want It – Mill avenue is the only place you could go to in a walking distance but it's mostly for people 21 and above. You can catch the bus to go to AZ Mills, Tempe Market Place and/or to downtown Phoenix. Everything is in walking distance but should invest in a bike or start to learn how to ride a longboard. As for social life, there is not much to do around unless you're 21 and above.

Weather: Always Feels Like Summer – Every day in Arizona, it always feels like summer because it hardly ever rains nor snows. In July/August, we have sandstorms (called haboobs) whenever it gets really windy and either 80-100 degrees. When I first came here, I had to keep myself cool by drinking a lot of water and staying in a cool classroom.

Academics: I came to ASU Poly because it has a Special Education program at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. The campus is fantastic, and most of the professors I have had have been close to amazing. They are available to answer questions and give you extra help with course work. Class discussion is encouraged in smaller classes and makes it worth going to class. Most of the classes I attend are hybrid, meaning that they are both online and in class.

Campus Housing: Freshmen and Upperclassmen Dorms – The freshman dorms at ASU Poly are great for both ASU and Mesa-Gilbert Community College students. There are different dorms at Poly: Eagle, Mustang, Falcon, Talon, Phantom, and Palo Blanco (which is one of the upperclassmen houses) I'm currently staying at Eagle Hall and later this fall I'll be moving to Mustang Hall because all of the MGCC students will be moving in. We will have a new dorm hall opening this summer.

Health & Safety: Totally Safe – I have never felt unsafe on ASU Poly's campus. It is a small, safe place to be with friends. Every night, my roommates and I keep our doors locked to avoid theft and pranks. Our Campus Security would always patrol around our dorms in their cars to make sure we are safe.

Parking: Just Don't Bring a Car – Don't bring a car unless it's necessary. If you are out of state bring it, the city is really spread out so getting anywhere is impossible. If you are in-state, find a way to keep your car somewhere not on campus because it'll cost you an arm and a leg. Not mention even if you pay the price for parking, you are not garenteed a spot and there are not even spots. Overall, parking sucks!

1 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: You'll see parties get busted by police and many students get MIC's but it's not a huge deal. I haven't heard of anyone getting in trouble for anything here. But it depends on which school your major falls under, some deans are more strict than others

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: There is very little greek life but if you want to get involved in it there are plenty of great opportunities. It is not necessary to meet friends at all.

3 College Freshman

Weather: When the weather here is nice, it is very nice. You can't beat the nice wether here anywhere. The price of this amazing weather is the unbearable heat that comes with summer. You can walk to your class in a heat that you can't imagine. The sweat of your body evaporates before you can notice it, as soon as you step in a building is when the moister spreads all over you wetting your cloths.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Common Heart Ship – There are computer commons at Arizona State University. It is there for the convince of the enrolled student. They are not updated with the best and latest software, and they usually take several minutes to connect to the schools network. The rule is "save save save", because with out a moments notice, the screen goes blank and you lose any work that is not saved. This happened to me once, but lucky it wasn't hours of work, only about a half hour. It would be really nice if the expensive software I need to compete assigned projects were installed on the schools computer or network somehow, but it is nice that there are computers that I can use.

Overall Experience: My School Rocks – ASU has been very good for me. I have had alot of support from the DRS, Professors, and even student groups. Even though it has been a while since attending, I am excited to return and get back in the swing of things.

3 College Student

Campus Strictness: Parking Tight – There are quite a few parking issues at ASU. The powers that be are pretty good about catching people who park in the wrong area. I don't have that probem because I never park in a restricted area. I do have to walk farther than most, though.

3 College Student

Athletics: Athletics at ASU are pretty big, especially for Football. The school puts alot of money into the program and it shows. It helps that the weather is so nice here during football season.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Heat but Not Distracting – I live in Arizona so you already know that it is going to be extremely hot. The hot months are May and August. But not to worry every building is willing to freeze every part of your body. So bring a light jacket for your extended amounts of time in class. Especially if your wearing shorts.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Frat Boys – I feel like if your not in a fraternity/sorority you have a difficult time making friends. A lot of the guys are straight frat boys, but some of them are pretty down to earth too. A lot of the girls come off as snobby, but once you get to know them they are really nice.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Wide Variety – There is a wide variety of races on campus, which is nice, because it gives you a feel for all different kinds of cultures.

4 College Freshman

Computers: Labs Are Very Easy to Use – There are many computer labs around campus and are rarely ever full, because most students have their own computers. But if you are looking to use a computer lab there will definitely be computers at your disposal.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Amazing School Spirit – Arizona state is awesome at coordinating school colors and spirit at games. It always gets out what to wear so that we out shine all other schools! I love it!

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
