5 College Freshman

Diversity: People from all over the world come to study at ASU and I personally have seen a great number of Asian and Middle Eastern students here, as well as Northern and Eastern European students. They're all very nice and very grateful to be in America.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: ASU has TONS of school spirit, especially during football season. Although ASU's football team has been on a bit of a down-turn lately, there is always great attendance and spirit at games!

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Tons of places in the Tempe area offer student discounts, which is very helpful. There is also great cultural diversity in food around ASU because of the great diversity of its students. Convenience is also prevalent, even in sit-down restaurants.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am not in Greek like and for the most part I recognize that the organizations on campus do good work for the community. I just do not personally identify or like most of the people that I know who are involved in Greek Life.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The one policy that I run into constantly as an online student is the Academic Honesty Policy. They adhere strictly to it and there is no room for dishonesty.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I live about 1 hour from the nearest campus, and that is the Lake Havasu campus. As for that campus, there are several nice places to eat at all price ranges.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Most of the year, the weather in Tempe is great. Not TOO cold in the winter, and fabulous in the fall and spring (like right now in mid to late April). The summers are brutal at times, but unless you're taking summer classes, it's not too terrible.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: There are good policies in place to guide students' academic and behavioral careers.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I transferred from another school and all of the advisors that I have dealt with have been great. I told them why I was transferring and what my educational goals were and within a week, I was attending class.

College Sophomore

Parking: I have never parked there as I attend classes online.

College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I am not affected by this issue as I do all classes online from home.

College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I attend classes online, so I do not have any security issues.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: There is strict enforcement of dorm rules. The campus police are strict about noise control and underage drinking. If there is loud noise and a neighbor complains, you are likely to get busted if you are drinking or have alcohol in your room,

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I am enjoying the engineering program and would chose the same program a second time around. My career goals are to find a job in the environmental industry and also to work on solutions to our current gas problem (e.g. find alternatives to gasoline). I do not have any concerns about finding a job in chemical engineering.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I enjoy the engineering program because it stems my interest and I feel challenged in my classes. I don't like the fact that my professors are not easily accessible for questions and oftentimes are not available during office hours; although, the hours are posted indicating that professor should be available. I have had great professors and not so great professors in my engineering program.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I did not encounter any challenges or difficulties getting into the program. The most important criteria for admission in the Engineering program is a GPA of 3.0 or above. There was no special application process when I applied to the engineering program. My advice regarding admission for high school students is to talk with your school advisor early in your high school years to understand what the requirements are for college entry and also to meet with advisor regularly to make sure that he/she is on track with grades/GPA>

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I plan to find an internship in my junior year. I think that the junior year is a good time to pursue an internship because by this time I would have basic engineering training and would be better able to integrate and apply engineering concepts. I have explored some of the local businesses that have internship progr ams and do not have concerns about finding an intern position.
I worked as an apprentice with an electrical engineering firm in Tempe, Arizona in Summer 2011.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: It is a felony to possess any sort of drug in the state of Arizona. If I were you I would just not do anything like that.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Good cuisines. Not many fast food places which is awesome. Makes you cut back on the bad food.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Nightlife is awesome at ASU. You have mill avenue and scottsdale for the 21+ year olds and then you have countless number of parties also if you join a fraternity you have that much more fun.

3 College Junior

Facilities: As a transfer I had a pretty good time here at ASU. Athletic center is nice, but was small. They are now expanding it a lot which should be nice. The library is super nice. I love going there to study and to see all those hot girls is just great.

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: I drive and I don't know of anyone else who doesn't drive. There are no subways or trains. The buses and lightrail is so-so.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: There are a lot of scholarships, but unless you are a minority you are unlikely to get them.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Winters are AMAZING. Summers can be brutal in July and August but everywhere you go they are blasting the air conditioning. Have access to a pool. No crazy storms/hurricanes/tornados/snow/ or earthquakes to deal with.

College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I am not a student living on campus so I am unaware of the drug scene. I have heard the alcohol is a lot bigger problem than drugs

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
