Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.

Academics: Arcadia is all about study abroad which is great for me because I'm an international studies major. Most of the faculty on campus has a great deal of knowledge about certain parts of the world and it's super easy to study abroad. The workload isn't too heavy, but it's not super easy either. Also because the school is located so close to Philly, there are a lot of internship fairs and opportunities.

Drug Safety: Some people drink and some people don't, there's not really a lot of pressure here to drink or do drugs. Most students don't get caught underage drinking or get in trouble for drug use. Usually if you get caught, you'll receive a warning from your RA or you'll be sent to AA meetings.

Campus Strictness: The school is very lenient. It's very easy to have people come visit you and campus police are really nice. However you don't want to miss a lot of class or else Arcadia sends people to come check on you and ask you why you're missing so much class.

Campus Housing: The dorms are one of the best ways to socialize with people, you just have to leave your door open and people will usually come talk to you. The worst option would be Dilworth because it's near the dining hall which means there's mice. The dorms are really close to classes and depending on which class you're going to, you can be there in about 3 minutes. The housing process is also not that difficult but the housing prices are just okay.

Local Atmosphere: People often go into Philly, there's always something going on there. Students often mingle with other students from Temple or Drexel. There's a decent size mall down the road along with some restaurants, however I wouldn't walk around Glenside alone at night.
