Local Atmosphere: There really isn't much to do except for thrift store shopping, getting tattoos/peircings, get your hair/nails done and grabbing a bite to eat. People usually get a ride or use SEPTA to go into the towns next door which offer a lot more. I know I never hang out in and around downtown glenside. The only places to be are on Campus, at the Oak apartments or around those (for the few that live in houses), at the wyncote towers or eating at michael's. Otherwise you're better off heading out somewhere.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: People often go into Philly, there's always something going on there. Students often mingle with other students from Temple or Drexel. There's a decent size mall down the road along with some restaurants, however I wouldn't walk around Glenside alone at night.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Not much to do in close proximity, everything is at least a 20 minute drive.

Local Atmosphere: The city of Glenside really isn't exciting, the only good thing is that there is a train station close by to go into Philly. Philly is a lot better.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere is okay in my opinion. The school is located in an area that is outside of the major city of Philadelphia. Glenside really isn't set up for a college town, but hopefully it will start to become one. There is a diner that is right outside of the campus that is open 24/7 which is really nice for those nights that you stay up late studying or just finishing up an event that our school was having (like Frost Fest at Arcadia). A lot of the things that people do is go into Philadelphia to find an 18+ club that they can go into or go to other events that you can usually find in the city (concerts, sporting events, etc.)

Glenside is a small suburb with a few great restaurants and bars. There are several thrift stores nearby and a mall in Willow Grove, as well. Glenside is located near Jenkintown, so many students venture there for fun. Glenside is also close enough to Philadelphia that one can make a day of wandering around the city, enjoying the shopping, history, and sights. Though there is little to do right around Arcadia, there are plenty of ways of getting around to nearby places of interest through the SEPTA bus system and train station, which is within walking distance from Arcadia.
