3 College Sophomore

Diversity: there are a ton of gay kids on campus, most are accepted.

Health & Safety: Although Public Safety is really relaxed, there are several blue lights around campus, and if you feel unsafe, they will escort you to where ever you are going. The campus is really small and I feel really safe walking around late at night.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: I know several people that do not have computers, however, they spend a lot of time in the library. There are several computer labs on campus in several buildings. However, in the dorms, Wi-Fi is awful. Depending on where you are at, your signal strength could be really great, or really bad.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The campus is kind of built in an oval shape, with a green center in the center of campus. This is nice because on sunny days, people are outside having fun on the green, either just relaxing with friends, studying, or playing sports. The athletic center has two exercise rooms, a gym, and a pool that is available to students during certain hours. The commons is a new building that has a game center in it, with everything ranging from board games and chess to video games. And there is always something going on at campus.

Facilities: Well, one big thing that sets us apart from other schools is that we have a castle. And even though Arcadia is a small campus, they stress the global experience, and require that students study abroad for a semester (the requirements can be satisfied with several classes if you cannot/ do not want to go abroad). Also, Arcadia is number seven in the US for their graduate Physical Therapy program.

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: There is no transportation available from the school, so students (with no cars or friends with cars) are left to rely on SEPTA, which has several bus stops next to the school, and there is a train station about 15 minutes away.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: People have different experiences with their majors. I have just declared Biology, Pre- Forensics, which is what my suitemate is. The workload for this major is crazy insane, but it is totally worth it. The Biology department is super nice and will help you with any questions you have.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have just declared my major, so I did not have an internship yet, but the school holds a career fair once a semester, which internships are available.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Honestly I have only been to the financial aid office once since it is in the Castle, and I rarely go up there. However, when I talked to my financial aid counselor, she was very friendly and helped me figure out my expenses for the next year.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: When the weather is bad, it sucks if you are walking from Oak, which is like a three minute walk from campus. But thankfully the campus is small enough, and the buildings are close together, so you do not have to be exposed to the weather for long.

Local Atmosphere: Arcadia is a perfect place to be. Glenside is a cute little town filled with boutiques and small restaurants. Keswick, just a little further down, also has nice shops and a small theater that occasionally has a well- known performers come through. And with just a thirty minute train ride, you can go down to Philadelphia city.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Public security rarely checks to see if cars have tags on them, and if you receive a fine, you can go to the office and rebut it. Like most colleges, Arcadia does not allow freshmen residents to have car, unless there is an extenuating reason as to why they should have one. The reason why I gave parking 3 stars was because it is so hard finding a parking spot close to the buildings during school hours.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The campus is not really strict. As far as academic's go, there is no cheating or plagiarism tolerated. However, as far as social lives go, the rules are never enforced.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are several apartment complexes right next to the school. The places have a high availability rate. As far as expenses go, it is cheaper to have a whole group of friends live together than on- campus housing.

Greek Life: Arcadia does not have Greek Life!

Greek Life: There aren't many, if any, fraternities or sororities at Arcadia. If there are any they are brand new and very exclusive. The whole Greek life isn't a main focus at Arcadia, which is something I really enjoy.

Overall Experience: Overall I love Arcadia. There were a few bumps along the way to where I started as a freshman and where I am now, but I don't think I would change them for the world. Arcadia really has some great programs and activities, the people that are on campus are really great and it's easy to get to know people. The history of the school is one reason why our school is unique, the castle is a main focus of the school and a place where some freshmen are allowed to dorm. The campus is small and it feels like a closer community. There are events every weekend, hosted by a number of different clubs and organizations.

Academics: I am currently a History major (secondary education minor) and I really enjoy the history department and the courses that I am able to take. Almost every single one of the teachers that I've had made the class enjoyable and interesting. The workload isn't that bad, mostly essays and the occasional test. Overall the History program is awesome.

Academics: The academics at Arcadia University are overall average for a college. There are some departments in which there are a few problems, not enough staff (or the staff that they have aren't the greatest), not having/giving out information to the students, and a few others. In the opposite direction there are some really great professors that care about how their students are doing and will give them the help and support that they need. The registration process is okay, when I first arrived at Arcadia I wasn't registered for classes but they were able to help me sort everything out, the process is a little unfair for anyone who isn't a senior or an honor student. The honor students are allowed to register before everyone else which isn't fair if they are freshman and the sophomores and juniors aren't allowed to register until after them. The workload is fair, although in some cases it might seem outrageous to the amount of classes some majors and minors have. Arcadia is said to be the number 1 study abroad school and they really push their students so spend at least one semester abroad. They also have a program for freshman and transfers called Preview in which they are allowed to take a class and visit a country during their spring break, it's a lot of fun and a cheap way to study abroad/travel.

Transportation: I don't really know much about the transportation at Arcadia, I have my car on campus and don't need to use any transportation that Arcadia might or might not offer. I do know that there are a few zip cars (I believe 2) but as I have my own car I don't need to use theirs.

Campus Dining: I am not a huge fan of on campus food, but it has gotten significantly better over the last year or so.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: My financial aid counselor is not the best but the department itself is very helpful. Arcadia has helped me with financial aid appeals.

2 College Senior

Nightlife: Nightlife is what you make of it here. There are not a ton of local options but our Student Programming Board does have a ton of fun programming.

3 College Senior

Weather: If the weather is bad, campus parking is almost nonexistent. But facilities is really good at making sure there is salt down if it snows. Also, the walk of pride does tend to flood a bit when there is heavy rain.

2 College Senior

Health & Safety: Glenside is a really safe neighborhood.

Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle Grey Towers Castle Arcadia's Grey Towers Castle is possibly the University's most unique and special building. The castle was built in the late 19th century and has been declared a historic landmark. Freshmen can dorm in the castle, and many events and activities take place there, as well.

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
