Transportation: Arcadia is a small campus so you don't really need a car to get to classes. The train station is an easy walk from campus so travel into the city or anywhere else in the area really isn't that bad, and if you need a car, you can always ask one of your friends that has a car on campus or one of your upperclassmen friends.

Scholarships: The financial aid counselor that I received was a blessing in disguise. Whenever I had a question, I would email her and she would get back to me within 24 hours. She helped me through the entire process. She even helped when we had to apply for an appeal due to the fact that I didn't get some government funding that I was expecting to receive. The financial aid office at Arcadia helps you with loans, finding scholarships and anything else that you might need.

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Arcadia isn't like typical campuses. Arcadia is considered a dry campus. Not a lot of people drink on campus. And if they do, it's either one of the sports teams when they are having a party, or upperclassmen who are off campus and are of age. If people are caught drinking underage, the school does take action. If it gets to the point where students need to go to the hospital, they are taken right away; their health is the number one priority of the school.

Campus Strictness: Campus strictness is pretty average at Arcadia. When it comes to drinking and underage drinking, they are somewhat stricter, but they are only like that because they want to keep everyone safe. They send out a program called AlcoholEdu for everyone to complete their freshmen year, and that makes everyone more aware of drinking and the affects that it has on you. They are very strict when it comes to plagiarizing, if they catch you, you fail the class and have to get administrative action. They are strict on the meal plan as well. They make sure that you wait 4 hours between each swipe, make sure that whatever you are getting is on the meal plan and double check your order slip to make sure that you get what you asked for.

Campus Housing: The campus housing isn't as bad as everyone made it out to be back home. The dorm rooms are a decent size, there are enough showers for the whole floor and you can feel like you are part of a community when you get back to your hall. The cleanliness isn't always 100% because you still need to wear shower shoes when you go in and the showers can get clogged, but you expect that. Having an on campus gym is really nice that you don't have to pay extra for, so you can work off the freshmen 15 without a worry. The housing process is pretty extensive due to the fact that they want to make sure you are with a roommate (or roommates if you are in a triple or anything bigger then that) that will really be easy to live with. It really is inconvenient that on campus housing doesn't have elevators, because that would make life a lot easier, but I guess you can see that as a way to have really good leg muscles by the end of the year.

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere is okay in my opinion. The school is located in an area that is outside of the major city of Philadelphia. Glenside really isn't set up for a college town, but hopefully it will start to become one. There is a diner that is right outside of the campus that is open 24/7 which is really nice for those nights that you stay up late studying or just finishing up an event that our school was having (like Frost Fest at Arcadia). A lot of the things that people do is go into Philadelphia to find an 18+ club that they can go into or go to other events that you can usually find in the city (concerts, sporting events, etc.)

Majors: The most important criteria to get into my major is to show academic strength when it comes to math. One way that we had to do that is having our math score on the SAT's be higher then any other SAT category.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I haven't gotten into a lot of the major specific courses yet since I am currently a first year student; I get more focused once I get into my sophomore year. But, according to my mentors and upperclassmen, there are just a lot of math courses that need to be taken and you will just have a big work load in those classes. But, you expect a big work load because you want to make sure that you are proficient enough in the subject to actually succeed with it in the future. Some unique aspects with the internships is that you usually intern with Arcadia graduates that went through with the same program. It's nice to be able to communicate with them and see how well Arcadia prepared them for the working world.

Academics: Actuarial Science isn't a major that a lot of campuses provide. Arcadia is great for this program because the head of the department passed all seven of the exams that are needed to be considered a Fellow (the highest level an actuary can be). We are being taught by someone who knows what the exams are like and can really prepare us for them. And Arcadia also has you pass two exams before you graduate, which will be really nice once we head out into the real world. The curriculum is very centered around everything that we will need to know; calculus 1-3, statistics 1 and 2, linear algebra, an actuary seminar and a some accounting and business classes as well. As for internship opportunities, Arcadia has relationships with a lot of insurance companies and other businesses that have actuaries on their staff. They also help you find an internship that will be very beneficial for your learning experience and easy and convenient for you to get to.

Nightlife: Arcadia is a very small and dry campus. While they have some nice things to do at night (sometimes), a lot of kids go off campus if they want to party or enjoy the nightlife. And the transportation is pretty good as well, with a lot of bus stops near us and the Septa system a 15 minute walk from campus.

Weather: The weather around campus can vary depending on the season. You have your days when it can be really nice, when it can be windy, rainy or really snowy. Just recently, Arcadia had to be closed because the high amounts of snow caused the power to go out. But, with bad, there is always good. Some days are really nice and you can go lay out on a blanket in the Green and just soak up some sun.

Greek Life: We don't have Greek life at Arcadia University.

Off-Campus Dining: Small local restaurants are all in Keswick. Best bet is taking a train to Philly to go out.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Glenside train station is within walking distance. That's what most people use.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: They talk about it, but it's often gotten away with.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Our health services are great. Plenty of therapy groups and low cost bc available at all times. Campus security is decent with swipe card access to all dorms.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: They're by far not the most difficult in the country.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Pretty wide selections. Better sciences than anything else.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: They're pretty helpful about setting up internships.

Campus Housing: Housing is better on campus than at oak summit, but oak has full apartments.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: We don't have greek life

Weather: At the beginning of the school year it was extremely hot, unbearable. During the winter it was also unbearable. The school is very cheap and only turned on the heaters once it went below 30 degrees outside while it was freezing in all the dorm rooms for the time being.

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
